Nature Camps “THIS IS THE ONE PLACE WHERE I CAN JUST BE MYSELF.” -Micah, age 11
“GETTING OUTSIDE IN NATURE TEACHES YOU HOW TO THINK FOR YOURSELF.” -Grayson, age 10
Our nature camp sessions provide a well-rounded experience for campers ages 7-13. Campers have the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of ecosystems and habitats, experience live animal encounters, play traditional camp games, interact with our chickens, and express themselves creatively. Nature camp brings children back to basics and nurtures connections to the natural world.
Our art camps allow campers, ages 7-13, to explore the natural world in a whole new way. Campers will get to go on hikes and excursions into the heart of the Backcountry to seek out inspiration and materials found in nature. From painting and sculptures to land art and photography, each art camp session works with different mediums. Campers will let their creative side run wild as they create art and lasting memories alike.
“MY FAVORITE THINGS AT CAMP WERE RIDING HORSES AND BUILDING SHELTERS. -Abigail, age 9
Horse Camps
Art Camps
Our horse camp sessions are offered in two different levels, allowing each camper, ages 7-13, to excel no matter their skill or comfort level around horses. Campers have the opportunity to learn about horse anatomy, horse behavior, horse care, grooming, parts of the saddle and bridle, and safety around the horses. Campers will enjoy riding time daily, either in the arena or on the trails, play traditional camp games, and will help care for the horses.
Expedition Camps Expedition camps provide an added twist to the classic day camp experience for campers ages 1113. While each week is unique, expedition camp sessions may include special topics, off-site trips, new challenges, and an overnight campout. Campers will develop lifelong connections with friends and the natural world.
“AS I GROW UP AT CAMP, I GET TO DO MORE AND GO ON BIGGER ADVENTURES EACH YEAR. -Taylor, age 11
Leader-in-Training Program LITs have the opportunity to serve as role models, develop as leaders, and make a difference in the lives of others and the environment.
Leadership Camp Wilderness-based leadership sessions offer teens non-stop adventure. Challenges such as whitewater rafting, exploration, and leadership development come together for a once-in-a-lifetime journey.
Our Base Camp
Our Camp Team Camp Backcountry is great because of its staff and counselors who are always actively engaged in teaching and playing with the campers. All of our staff and counselors have a passion for nature, animals, outdoor recreation, and science, as well as a desire to educate today’s youth.

“YOU MAY COME INTO CAMP BACKCOUNTRY AS A STRANGER, BUT BY THE END OF THE SUMMER YOU WILL LEAVE WITH A WHOLE GROUP OF MUD COVERED, SUNSHINE FILLED, HAPPY AS CAN BE, ADVENTUROUS FRIENDS.” -Emily, 21
Our Base Camp is nestled into our 8,200 acre conservation property, right in the heart of the Front Range. Our many different learning spaces, meadows, Ponderosa stands, and the foothills provide a dynamic setting for learning about the natural world.
