Happy April showers everyone! It would be nice to have some more precipitation ahead of the warm summer temperatures and fire season wouldn’t it? We are coming up on the most active part of the year so dust off the bike and lawn chairs and get ready for some outdoor fun! Events – April is full of fun events for you and the family! It is the perfect time of year to attend our annual Home Expo! This event provides you with fresh ideas in landscaping, home décor or Do-it-Yourself projects. It is being held from the 11th through the 13th at the Recreation Center at Eastridge. Kids' Fishing on the Fly will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday the 12th at the Recreation Center at Southridge. Easter is already upon us and is always a great time for family and celebrating one’s Christian faith. The Annual Easter Egg hunt will be held on Saturday, April 19th at the Recreation Center at Northridge at 10:00 a.m. Please check our web site for a complete list of our annual events. Board Election – The March elections were held with three board seats open. Current Directors Scott Lemmon, Christina Caputo and Dennis Seymour, re-ran for their seats and were successful in their campaigns. Thank you to District Delegate Shon Payne who ran on the same ballot as a challenger for one of the three seats. All of their service to the community is much appreciated and we look forward to working with board members, delegates and all our volunteers that help make Highlands Ranch an even better place to live, work and play! Strategic Planning – The board held a retreat in March to continue their work on a Strategic Plan. Much work has been completed and the goal is to bring it into line with the budget process for 2015. As mentioned, the board and staff have been very busy putting a comprehensive plan together for the community. The goal is to forecast out the next five years so that we can properly anticipate budgetary costs for new capital and repairing and replacing other equipment and facilities. The board, in this year’s budget, began to put aside funds to eventually expend on these projects. Together with the staff, we are putting the final touches on the Annual Report which will cover a number of important sources of information. Spring Landscaping – Spring brings beautiful flowers and green grass, but also requires a bit of clean up. Take the time now to clean up your landscaping and all the trees, limbs, and leaves on your property. In the spirit of community and cooperation, please be cognizant of your landscaping and how it might also affect your neighbor's yard. We want to continue to enhance our property values and keep our community beautiful.
