Enhancing property values and creating quality of life through recreation, community events and leadership
March 2013
recycling in the RANCh Pro Disposal has been awarded another three year contract with the HRCA as our Highlands Ranch trash and recycling preferred provider. The program provides low-cost weekly trash pick up and free single-stream recycling pick up every other week. "Championing environmental stewardship and sustainability is one of our board's visions and goals," says Board president Scott Lemmon. Our focus in 2013 is to emphasize the free recycling program and help our residents take advantage of these services that benefit our community. The Highlands Ranch residents who currently take advantage of the Preferred Provider service program recycle approximately 20% of their waste. As a community, let’s work to increase the percentage we recycle by recycling all possible items and increase the total tonnage of recycled materials. A complete list of recyclable materials can be found at www.HRCAonline.org/green. If you’re not already recycling, join HRCA’s “Going Green” program by signing up for this free recycling program and encouraging your neighbors to do the same. You may use your own container or for a refundable deposit, you have the option to use a Pro Disposal recycle cart. To sign-up with Pro Disposal or to order a recycle cart, call 303-791-3827. We invite you to work with us to make our community sustainable for future generations. For more information visit www.HRCAonline.org/trash.

Many of you are familiar with Pro Disposal and have taken advantage of their low monthly rates for service. Their contract was renewed for an additional three years. Stay tuned for more details in the next couple of months, but I believe you will be very happy to see that we have increased our emphasis on recycling and sustainable services. Blowing trash is unsightly and lowers property values. Even in the best of circumstances, it is sometimes difficult to keep trash contained, but with the high winds, it’s even more important that trash be kept in sealed containers and upright while at the curb. Please compact your trash as much as possible (making it heavier and less likely to blow over), place it in bags, and put the bags into tightly covered cans before putting out at the curb. Also, please be certain to keep unleashed pets off the street, so that they are not tipping over cans or tearing into bags. Trash can be placed at the curb the evening before pick-up, and cans are
