READERS’ CHOICE AWARDS 2018

COMMEMORATIVE GUIDE

A total of 20 companies shared in 30 HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards in 2018. This commemorative guide highlights their stories

H

RM Asia’s Readers’ Choice Awards have shone a bright spotlight on some of the best HR service providers in Singapore and beyond. The 2018 awards programme saw winners across 30 diverse categories, with 20 different organisations sharing the accolades. Some 200 guests, representing the full spectrum of HR services, were on hand at Capella Singapore to celebrate the wins across such diverse categories as Best HR Technology – Payroll, Best Serviced Apartment, and Best Career Conversation Provider. They enjoyed a full, four-course meal with wine, some exciting entertainment, as well as the opportunity to celebrate and network amongst themselves and the other industry players on the guest list. The winners were determined across a two-tier judging system. The readers had their say via the online voting poll, which saw over 3,400 votes recorded during the month-long voting period in August. Those numbers were then supplemented by the assessments of an independent judging panel of HR professionals – they used supplied case studies, online research, and their own experiences to give each nominee a rating that accounted for 30% of their overall score. Interestingly, there were some very tight contest in some categories, but the awards also had some overwhelming victors through the popular vote, even before the judges scores were tallied. HRM Asia congratulates all the winners and nominees. They are indeed great supporters of HR in Singapore and Asia-Pacific, and their products and services are all designed to help take HR teams to the next level of strategy and professionalism.

Lucky staycation winners Over 3,400 votes were processed across all 30 categories, making the two HR professionals who won HRM Asia’s incentive prizes all the luckier. Junainah Mohammed (pictured), from Sodexho, and Alicia Tee, from Engie in Singapore, each won a luxurious one-night staycation in one of W.Hotel’s aptly-named “Fabulous” rooms.

Times Software

While the principal product of Times Software is labelled as a “payroll solution”, Rene Wong, Sales and Marketing manager for the company, says it has always provided much more than simple accounting technology. And that, combined with an extremely high level of customer service and communication, has meant a growing pool of satisfied clients utilising Times products for not just payroll, but also claims and leave management, among other versatile functions. That’s why she was particularly elated to have been able to pick up the Readers’ Choice Award for two categories: Best Leave Management software and Best Claim Management software. “We are very excited with our win because this is the first time we have won these two categories,” she said “This is a recognition to us that Times Software is not just a payroll solutions company, but also capable of being a total HR provider.” Wong says it was a combination of that versatility and customer service that helped the company to clinch both trophies. “Our constant improvements, as well as our willingness to listen to our customers is what has made us stand out from the rest of the pack,” she said.

“We always believe in giving our customers a great overall experience.” But claiming success outside the traditional scope of payroll software is only the beginning for Wong and the Times Software team. “Our focus had always been the same for the past 20 years, and that is to help our customers achieve better efficiency. We are currently researching various ways to further streamline HR and payroll processes by investing more in our research and development function. “We will continue to provide great after sales service and also continuously improve our product.” Wong and the team have been regular partners of HRM Magazine Asia and the Readers’ Choice Awards for more than a decade. She gave special thanks to those that voted and supported Times Software in both 2018 and previous years. “We would like to thank HRM Magazine Asia for organising this prestigious award. And most importantly, we would like to thank all our customers who have voted for us and supported us throughout our company’s 20-year journey,” she said.

Info-Tech System For the past 21 years, InfoTech has been building, and expanding on its integrated HR system, which includes time attendance, payroll, e-leave, and a range of other HR services. It was one of the first such systems to leverage on cloud technology to deliver its software as a service in Singapore, and the move has had a big impact on HRM Magazine Asia readers. They voted InfoTech as the Best HR Tech – Cloud Solutions in the 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards. “We are honored to have our work recognised by HRM Asia’s Readers’ Choice Awards,” Peter Lee, Director of InfoTech said. “It means so much to us that the work that we are passionate about also resonates with others.” That’s not to say the win was unexpected – Lee and his team had every confidence their technology would be voted best. “We had planned to win, prepared to win, and expected to win,” he says. “Our products and services provide the most value for our customers, through adaptability and manifest transparency to the market.” Having leveraged off the cloud technology revolution, InfoTech Systems is now looking at other innovations in the HR tech space to further advance its offering. “We would like to take advantage of the growing technology by investing more in research and development and contributing to the ‘Smart Nation’ ambitions of Singapore,” Lee said. “We are now focusing on enhancing and integrating our current solution to artificial intelligence to interact, connect and increase accessibility, anytime and anywhere.”

At the heart of Frontier e-HR’s win in this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards – and across everything the company does – is user experience. So said Weng Foo Chua, CEO of the company, as he collected the prize during the gala ceremony at Capella Sentosa. “We are very honoured to win this category, and Frontier e-HR will continue to focus on our mission in providing great user experiences,” he said. Chua went on to note that the company’s ongoing customer service and support was another key factor in Frontier e-HR standing out head and shoulders above the competition. “We also encourage our customers to provide feedback on their desired features through our customer support site. Besides this, we truly put our focus on the importance of cybersecurity,” he said. Frontier e-HR is now looking further at vertical solutions, a strategy reflecting the fact that the marketing is becoming more and more agile in the current business environment. “Our priorities in the upcoming year will be on the areas often ignored, like Talent Management and HR Analytics,” Chua said. “We are also strengthening our team internally through an improved process of on-boarding and on-the-job training to get ourselves ready for growth.”

Elements Global Services Elements Global Services is a leading international payroll and Employer of Record (EOR) / Professional Employer Organisation that is now making a big impact in Singapore and other Asian markets. Its win in the Best Outsourcing Technology category of the HRM Magazine Asia Readers’ Choice Awards came on the back of a broad suite of software options that give clients the opportunity to allow clients to operate their businesses across borders with confidence and precision. “With our platform, we assist our clients to expand, onboard, manage, and pay easily,” Ernee Ong, Director of Business Development – Asia-Pacific, said. “I believe the innovation of our Global EOR service was what made us stand out in the awards.” Elements Global Services is still new to Asia, but is making its presence felt, particularly among the fast-growing start-up community in Singapore and beyond. “We do have a lot of start-up with Series A-to-C funding that are using our services,” Ong noted, adding that the award would help to cement its place as the pioneer EOR service provider here. “This provides us with a stronger confidence in speaking to our clients, and explaining how EOR can work well in the region.” The company is also working to expand its offering, including through its own HR Management software that integrates easily with all of Elements’ partners and clients – which means they are able to manage all of their overseas staff with a single login.

RISQ Group by Sterling Talent Solution RISQ Group has a simple but powerful vision for its work in Asia. It aims to “build the best employment screening and verification offering in the Asia-Pacific region”. It may have already done exactly that – if the votes of HRM Magazine Asia readers are anything to go by – but Elizabeth Fitzell, Chief Operating Officer for RISQ Group (pictured here on the right with Singapore Screening Manager Michelle Soon) says there will always be more value the company can add to its clients recruitment and verification work. “Standing behind this mission is a unique combination of innovative thinking and decades of frontline employment screening and verification experience that knows exactly how to best protect organisations throughout the entire employment life cycle,” she said. “With RISQ Group, the customer knows that it is getting a team of people devoted to delivering the best employment screening and verification available. And it knows that this team is also committed to developing and executing next generation screening and verification technologies that will keep its clients protected and well ahead of the curve.” Fitzell said the win was a testament to that philosophy of unwavering client focus. “We are honored to have gained the recognition from clients and business partners for being the ‘Best Background Screening Provider’ for the second year in a row,” she said. “We are very grateful for the trust and confidence that our clients and partners have placed in us.”

BIPO Service

BIPO Service has over 14 years’ experience in delivering software solutions for Asia-Pacific’s HR community, and continues to innovate and evolve its products over time. That’s why its cloud-based HR Management System and specialist payroll service have proved such a hit with HRM Magazine Asia readers in the annual Readers’ Choice Awards. Suwandi Ng, Managing Director of BIPO Service in Southeast Asia and Oceania (pictured), says the company was “deeply honoured” to win not one, but two awards at the gala ceremony on September 28. It was voted best in each of the Best HR Tech – Payroll, and Best HR Tech – HR Management System categories. “We are truly grateful to our valued clients and business partners who kept the faith with us,” he said. “We couldn’t have done it without them.” The company takes a bespoke approach to each and every client, regardless of which modules they are using, or if indeed the entire suite of BIPO Service products are being utilised.

“We do not believe in using a ‘one-size-fits-all’ strategy,” Ng said. “Our mission is to be a complete HR technology partner, which supports the customer’s business, delivering innovation and value.” The superior technology, with a particular emphasis on the user experience of employees, is surpassed only by the depth of knowledge and experience of the BIPO Service team programming each of its solutions. “We have in-depth knowledge of the relevant labour and tax laws of each country, and are constantly incorporating best practices into our highly-flexible payroll management system,” Ng added. “We can support multi-currency salary disbursements and compliance on multi-statutory regulations,” he said about the company’s payroll service. “And our all-in-one powerful cloud and mobile-based HR management system has sophisticated planning, data-mining and analytics capabilities, going far beyond a simple data collection and processing HR system.”

across three different categories in this year’s HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards. The company was recognised in each of the Best Talent Development (for the third year running), Best Corporate – Talent Engagement Provider (for the second year running), and Best Career Conversation Provider (in the inaugural presentation of this prize) categories. Wong said the third of these awards – which focuses on the increasing trend of organisations contracting third-party specialists to help keep their staff motivated, focused, and taking advantage of the career development resources and opportunities available to them was “most significant”. “We clinched this based on our movement for the past eight years to date,” he said. “Indeed, it was a hard-earned accolade, this one!” Wong gave a special acknowledgment of thanks to all of the company’s clients who voted in the Readers’ Choice Awards. “We are indeed honoured with our clientele continuous support in our work,” he said, before adding that it would spur the organisation to even greater success in the future. “We do not take our victories for granted, no matter how small, or how big they are.”

Continually building and upskilling talent across industries, markets, and organisations is a big task. But Joseph Wong, founder and behavioural transformation coach with TrainingGearAsia, says there are some common skills that all professionals need to build, develop, and continually practice in order to have success in their working lives. “The talent and HR industry is certainly undergoing a major revamp at the moment, ” Wong notes. “That is changing the way we look at talent, resources, and also flexibility.” That is also where the self-described “Talent Development and Behavioural Transformation House” of TrainingGearAsia plays a vital role. Wong says that with every engagement the company receives, the aim is to shift mindsets, shape emotions, and sharpen performance. The typical programme will also highlight the importance of influence in modern-day organisations, with Wong noting that at least 80% of time at work requires staff to influence others in some way. “Influence is about moving people from their natural urge to resist into a commitment minds,” he said. Wong says he was extremely honoured and grateful to be recognised

Ignite Performance with Career Conversation We are proud to be the recipient of the first-ever award on Career Conversation that recognises our excellence in our domain of redefining talent and people engagement for the future of work and leadership. A programme that is specially designed with the Asia context in mind, it focuses on delivering a conversation that shift employee’s mindset towards the new blueprint of career success and how leaders of the future need to do more of, to build a powerful team and motivated organisation that can respond to the rapid change in our world today.

Award-Winning Programme

Scientifically Backed-up

This award-winning programme focuses on empowering leaders to look at retaining talents with a different perspective. When a talent decides to leave an organization, it is the responsibility of the leaders and not the HR. While we cannot keep the talent for life, we need to ask the question, “will they return to us one day?”. The only reason they will return is that the leader who led them previously had played an important milestone in their career growth.

Transforming Our Perspective

In a study done, they discovered that across all income level, the top predictor of workplace satisfaction is not salary: It is the culture and value of the organisation, followed closely by the quality of senior leadership and finally career opportunities at the company. When it comes to workplace happiness, compensation and benefits were consistently rated among the least important factors. While pay can help attract new talent into the organisation, the research shows it’s not likely to keep them there without real investments in creating career pathways that elevate workers through a career arc in the organization. All this point back to one conclusion – an organization cannot afford to not develop their people intentionally across all levels.

The programmes focus on the following key areas: To identify the new mindset of leadership and how talent retention reflects us as leaders. Appreciating the new mindset of a leader in career conversation. How we can effectively conversation with success.

Prinya Tieanworn, CEO of the VMPC Group (which is the holding company of Oakwood Hotel and Residence Sri Racha) was celebrating with colleagues from both Singapore and Thailand during the Readers’ Choice Awards gala ceremony on September 28. With the Thailand property – which serves the rapidly expanding industrial region of Sri Racha in Chon Buri province, south of Bangkok – scooping not just one, but two prizes in the predominantly Singaporefocused awards, he was keen to ensure the unique feat was recognised throughout the region. Tieanworn puts the achievements down to a superior level of guest care and service that operates throughout the property and its facilities. “It was the team’s major effort – they have been consistently working to treat our guests with the utmost care and have given them a feeling of a home away from home.

“Every day we all come back to hotel with one thought: let’s make this hotel a better place to live than yesterday.” Tieanworn says he was particularly pleased with the win in the MICE category in 2018. This is a key part of the property’s business model going forward, and the industrial region of Sri Racha has long been crying out for a modern MICE venue with state-of-the-art facilities. Of course, the recognition of Oakwood Hotel and Residence Sri Racha in the Serviced Apartment category was also an important note of confidence for the newcomer property. “It is indeed an incredible feeling that Oakwood Sri Racha has won the award,” he said after that first gong for Best Serviced Apartment property was announced. “It makes us proud and determined to serve our guest’s with the best of our abilities.” Oakwood Hotel and Residence Sri Racha opened in the second half of last year and Tieanworn says the property has surpassed all of its expected targets. “Since we opened, the hotel has been reaching milestones, and guests has been praising us on every platform,” Tieanworn said. “The right platform has been set now, so we are able to focus even more on guest satisfaction.”

The team at Oakwood Studios Singapore has worked diligently to ensure service delivery is curated to every resident’s individual desires and needs - and that helped clinch its win as Best Serviced Apartment in the 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards. While catering to the tech-savvy crowd, Oakwood Studios Singapore stands out as a quirky and trendy hotel, thus providing a unique guest experience, notes Paul Stocker, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Revenue for Oakwood Studios. “Our strong guest advocacy positioning ensures that we receive positive on-line reviews. Center for Creative Leadership When it’s done right, leadership development transforms individuals, teams, organisations, and even society at large, says Thomas Goh, Managing Director and Chief Client Officer of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) in Asia-Pacific. “Leadership is all we do – and we do it right,” he points out. Going deeper into the reasons for CCL’s success, both in business and in the Readers’ Choice Awards, Goh said the Center’s methods were informed by decades of research and practical experience with tens of thousands of clients from around the world. “CCL takes pride in getting sustainable results for our clients,” he said. “We devote ourselves to help organisations and individuals adapt to the fast-changing needs of leadership in the business world, while we also play a role in supporting nongovernment organisations through our societal advancement works – something our clients appreciate us for.” Across Asia-Pacific, clients are coming to CCL with some very common requests in this age of digital disruption and ambiguity. Among these themes are the need to develop women leaders, leadership analytics, and organisational transformation. Most important is the need for organisations to be “future-fluent,” Goh says. To be successful, organisations and individuals need to be future fluent, not just “future-ready”. “You need to be ahead of the curve,” he said.

Marketing Institute of Singapore

Roger Wang, President of the Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS), could barely contain his excitement when presented with the Best Corporate – Learning and Development Provider award for the fourth year in a row in 2018. “We are absolutely humbled by this support from our clients,” he told the gala ceremony on September 28. “Of course, we are (also) excited, as all the hard work we have done has borne fruit – we wouldn’t have won if our clients didn’t believe in us.” With over 350 curated course offerings across the executive development space, MIS has been playing a leading role in providing training, and learning and development programmes to professionals and corporations in Singapore and around the region for over 40 years. Wang says there have been many organisations undertaking continual learning and repeat programmes for their staff as each new generation climbs through the ranks. “This proves that our clients believe in the quality and the diversity of our course offering,” he said. Part of MIS’ longevity is also attributed to its ability to evolve with changing times, and particularly when times are changing as quickly as they are currently. “To remain relevant, we will continue to monitor global trends, and collaborate with our regional partners to offer blended solutions,” Wang said. “For example, there is high demand for digital-based training within the region, which is why we are excited to announce we have recently launched our Advanced Diploma in Digital Marketing.”

The combined team at Resorts World Sentosa celebrated two wins at this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards, with the integrated resort complex recognised as Best MICE Venue for large-scale events and the on-site Equarius Hotel celebrated as Best Business Hotel. Cara Puah, Head of MICE and Corporate Sale, said it was Resort World Sentosa’s personalised approach, alongside state of the art technology and infrastructure, which stood the property apart from competitors in both categories. “Venues at Resorts World Sentosa can be truly spectacular and we go the extra mile in customising every event to the very detail and delivering outstanding guest experiences that are memorable and second to none,” Puah said. “From banquet dinners set against the majestic vistas of the Open Ocean Gallery at the S.E.A. Aquarium to glamourous cocktail receptions along the streets of Hollywood or New York in Universal Studios Singapore and large scale conferences in the region’s largest column free ballroom

featuring seven super wide 270-degree screens and state-of-the-art projection technology, Resorts World Sentosa has played host to many major events of important clients.” That emphasis on tailored experiences also extends to the staff and facilities at Equarius Hotel. With large breezy rooms boasting panoramic views of both the sea and forest areas of Sentosa Island, this accommodation and convention centre is an oasis within the very urban jungle of Singapore. Puah says it is the hotel’s staff and attention-to-detail that help to give each guest the warmest possible memories of their stay. “Our focus has always been on empowering our team members to go the extra mile in addressing the needs of our guests and providing an environment where they are best equipped to make quick decisions on their feet,” she said. Puah said the win would encourage those staff to aim even higher. “Winning this accolade will no doubt spur the team at Equarius Hotel to raise the bar even higher and elevate the property to be among the most outstanding hotel destinations at Resorts World Sentosa.”

Best Learning and Development Provider Best Business Programme Provider

MDIS & MDIS-MDC

For HR professionals looking to build up the business skills of their organisation’s key staff, there are plenty of training options available in the Singapore market. Short courses are everywhere, and specialist programmes focusing on niche functional areas also abound. But for rigorous academic programmes, including formal Masters of Business Administration courses across several specialisations, HRM Magazine Asia readers selected the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) as the best provider in Singapore. And for shorter learning and development programmes, it was MDIS’ specialist corporate training arm – Management Development and Consultancy (MDC) that came up trumps in the Best Learning and Development Provider category of the Readers’ Choice Awards in 2018. Ignatius Teo, Head of School, MDIS Business School, says winning the Readers’ Choice Award for Best Business Programme Provider was an “especially proud” moment for the organisation. “This is an endorsement that MDIS is providing good quality education to our students,” he said. One thing setting the school apart from other academic institutions is its care and interest in students, even after they have completed their studies. “MDIS Business School has knowledgeable lecturers who care for students’ learning,” Teo added. “This care extends to providing career advice and moral support in their lives.” Other ways MDIS students benefit from this philosophy include the chance to attend networking events with industry professionals and taking part in competitions to apply their skills in real-world scenarios. MDC meanwhile, is also leaving its mark in Singapore, and far beyond these shores. It has an overseas business arm that is spreading its curriculum and teaching methodologies as far afield as East Timor, the Maldives, and Nigeria. Sharmila Naidu, Deputy Head of the MDC, says this is deliberately in line with the organisation’s vision, which aims to make MDC “the choice for lifelong learning with global recognition”. It was therefore an exciting win for the MDC team, and Naidu was quick to thank the organisation’s clients for their votes and encouragement. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients for their kind support and look forward to continue meeting their training needs,” she said.

Best Recruitment Firm Client Experience

Resource Solutions

“Exceeding expectations” – that is the secret to success in the ultracompetitive market for recruitment services, not just in Singapore but throughout Asia-Pacific. Simon Bradberry, Managing Director of Resource Solutions, says that simple mantra is also what drives the agency forward and was likely at the top of mind of voters in this year’s HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards. “Resource Solutions prides ourselves on providing excellent service to our clients – we are delighted to be recognised as winners of the Best Recruitment Firm - Client Experience award for the third year in a row, especially as this has been voted for by HRM Magazine Asia readers,” he said. The service is also matched by a spirit of innovation that is ensuring its products take full advantage of all available technology and the latest thought leadership on talent acquisition. “We are increasing our commitment to bringing innovation in to the everyday life of a recruiter,” Bradberry said. “Our dedicated innovation team partners with clients at the most senior level, helping them to stay one step ahead and navigate the changing recruitment landscape in real-time. Our clients trust our advice as we trial all the innovative technologies that we provide them access to.” Those technologies are evolving at a rapid pace, and Bradberry says Resource Solutions is committed to staying at the head of the pack. “We plan to continue to trial new artificial intelligence and automated technologies to enable us to provide cutting edge innovative consultation to new and existing customers,” he said.

Best Recruitment Firm Engineering and IT Positions

When it comes to recruitment for technology roles and tech-focused organisations, it takes a specialist to truly understand the market and deliver on client expectations. That, Crystal Teo, Associate Consulting Manager of Sciente International, is what has made the company the standout selection in this category since 2016. “We are a technology-specialist firm, and our laser-like focus on technology makes us second to none,” she said. The company’s ethos of delighting its clients and community also sets it apart from the rest, as does its purpose-driven team. “Lastly, we strongly believe that recruiting is about consulting, not selling,” she added. Teo says collecting the Readers’ Choice Award for the third year in a row was a “humbling” experience. “Market dynamics continue to change, and we need to continue to reinvent ourselves so that we can make our clients and community succeed – we hope to continue to sustain the leadership position of being the best within the specialist recruitment industry.” There are even bigger things ahead for the Singapore home-grown organisation, having entered the US market just last year. Teo says the vast market potential that exists across the world’s biggest economy is driving the company and its enthusiastic team forward. “With our continuous focus of delighting our clients and community, we hope to be one of the best technology specialist firms in the US market in time to come as well!”

Talent Mobility Asia Winning the prize for Best Talent Mobility Provider in the 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards was a testament to all the hard work that the dedicated team at Talent Mobility Asia has put out for the past four years, Stephen Park, Director of Consulting Services, has said. As a boutique HR consulting firm, he says that it is an achievement worth celebrating, and its efforts have not gone unnoticed by clients and the wider HR community. “Talent Mobility Asia is dedicated to helping organisations cut through the complexities of mobilising talent globally, while increasing the return on talent investments, as it gains significant experiences working within global mobility in Asia,” Park said. The company can “provide customised solutions based on in-depth industry knowledge and thought leadership.” Moving forward, Park noted that Talent Mobility Asia would continue to further improve its favourable position, as it strives to deliver an integrated platform that combines consulting services with technology and data analytics to provide a holistic experience for its clients. Park joined his team in celebrating the award at the gala ceremony on September 28. He believes that Talent Mobility Asia is now well placed to provide support to HR leaders, and that its clients are “increasing their focus on the strategic value of talent mobility and investing in their frameworks for better employee experiences and business outcomes from their mobile workforce”.

Alliance Healthcare Amid a landscape of rising medical costs in Asia-Pacific, Dr Barry Thng, CEO of Alliance Healthcare, says there is often a temptation to find shortterm solutions that take away from customer care and support over the longer term. But Alliance Healthcare’s win in the Best Healthcare Group category shows there is still some value given to its strategy of building greater efficiencies across its portfolio of services. “Alliance has resisted the temptation of adopting short-term solutions in managing rising healthcare costs,” he said. “Instead, we focus on making quality healthcare more efficient, cost-effective and accessible.” “For example, we have convinced 11 Government Restructured Hospitals to offer cashless services to our clients at their specialist outpatient clinics and emergency departments. With this in place, more than 40% of specialist referrals are now going to these organisations, instead of private hospitals.” In another example, Alliance’s investments in digital technologies and big data analysis have enabled it to offer targeted and customised solutions to clients, in order to maximise the returns of their healthcare expenditure. It was these sorts of strategies that helped to build support for Alliance in this category. “Winning the award for Best Corporate - Healthcare Group is a vote of confidence from our clients and a recognition of our efforts to bring about affordable, quality healthcare to employees amidst escalating healthcare costs,” Dr Thng said.

Best Corporate - Leadership Programme Best HR Consultancy

Talent Plus

For Talent Plus, one size definitely does not fit all; and nor does one single HR solution fit all challenges and obstacles. That’s why the company was so happy to be recognised specifically for the holistic category of Best HR Consultancy in this year’s HRM Magazine Asia Readers’ Choice Awards. It also picked up the trophy for Best Corporate – Leadership Programme, further showcasing the company’s versatility across HR functions. Steve Wang, Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific office, says Talent Plus has strong capabilities across recruitment, training, leadership development, and talent management. But it is when all of these areas are combined that clients get the highest value from its services. “We offer the highest validity of any solution in the marketplace – nearly double of many of our competitors,” he says. “And just as important is the high level of customer service that we offer our client partners. “We have a vista into Asian leadership needs and workforce dynamics to assist clients as they select individuals for the talent they bring to their organisation,” he says. “We also help them develop once onboarded – ensuring our client organisations are able to retain their top talent.”

Those qualities are more important than ever in the current talentscarce business environment that most organisations in the region are now facing. “With very low unemployment, organisations should be focused on ensuring each (candidate) selection is the right one – the right fit, the right culture, the right manager, and the right organisation. “Once onboarded, organisations should be making sure individuals have a talented manager who is investing in each person and creating platforms for continual growth.” As 2019 draws near, Talent Plus’ focus will turn toward the managerial level of business in Asia-Pacific. “With easily 10% to 20% of all organisations comprising of managers, there are millions of managers in the workforce,” he said. “We know they set the tempo. When engaged, their team members realise higher engagement in turn.” Wang was quick to thank his team and also looked forward to bigger things ahead. “We’re very proud to receive this recognition. It is affirmation that we’ve created high quality solutions that resonate in the HR space in Asia-Pacific,” he said.

Kaplan

Wayne Marriott, Executive Director of Kaplan Professional, was ecstatic at the training company’s dual win in the Readers’ Choice Awards for 2018. The company picked up the Readers’ Choice Award for Best Sales and Marketing Training Provider at the gala ceremony on September 28 – in addition to the award for Best Corporate – Training Provider. The first award for Best Corporate-level Training Provider was a particular triumph because it covers such a wide range of vocational training programmes. “(It is) the quality of our professional qualifications and training courses for skills upgrading, that has made us to stand out from our fellow nominees,” he said. “Further, the team genuinely enjoys what we do and that manifests in the service to our clients. “The team strives to provide quality learning experiences, and transformation services to clients to help achieve their business results, and for our efforts to be recognised is wonderful indeed.” With no organisation – not even Kaplan itself – immune to the rapid

changes taking place in the world economy right now, training and skills development are a vital part of every workforce strategy. “We, like our clients, are in a sector that is experiencing disruption and transformation,” Marriott said. “To meet this challenge and continue to service our clients in their change and growth, we are increasing our offerings higher up the vertical of technical and behavioural training, and expanding our range of specialised IT and Communications Technology offerings.” This is particularly true when it comes to vocational training for the sales and marketing vertical, where Kaplan Professional already offers a wide range of career-specific training programmes and courses. These include Digital Marketing certification and accredited Workforce Skills Qualification curricula, but is now being supplemented with a series of digital training offerings. “We will continue to provide learning and developmental solutions to meet business needs, and help organisations succeed in today’s competitive world,” he said.

TrainingGear Asia

TrainingGear Asia

TrainingGear Asia

We are experiencing an accelerated shift in both our business and talent landscape today and taking advantage of the aplenty possibilities and opportunities; we need to be ahead of the curve. TrainingGearAsia (TGA) has evolved over the years from an experiential learning outfit into a professional talent and behavioural development firm today with specialty into Influence, Leadership, and Performance. Our mission of igniting new performance continue to be highly relevant today. The need to transform our perspective so that we can develop the behaviour of success for tomorrow starting today, and that, is talent development and engagement. To take on the world of opportunities, we believe in being Bold, Ahead and Different

The courage to be different is a consistent benchmark we embrace in our work on a daily basis, from our thought process, design, right up to delivery, this boldness to be unique has given us the power to be in front of the curve.

Our strategic courage to introduce new practical concepts and solutions has spearheaded us to be ahead of the curve with movements that has gained significant traction over the years since the day we started.

There is no breakthrough without experiment and being bold in our thinking has allowed us to forecast different trends in the areas of multiplying and sustaining talent engagement and development.

To be ahead of the curve has also spurred us to build up a credible resource of consultants, facilitators, and speakers over the years, with an aim to support our clientele in their various talent development and engagement touch point to create the experience of the organization.

Our expertise and thoughts have been featured actively in multiple media like The Straits Times, The New Paper, The Business Times, AsiaOne Business Online, 938Now and Pioneer Magazine. We aim to redefine the talent development and engagement space. Boldly.

TrainingGearAsia is proud to be the recipient of the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice award recognizing our excellence across Asia for Best Corporate Talent Development, Talent Engagement and Career Conversation Provider. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all our friends, clientele and consultants over the years. We will continue to deliver the best and be the pacesetter in the space of talent development.

We dare to be different by introducing innovative solution and concept into the talent space, and we are highly passionate about three movements into the future.

Influence Without Authority Influence is one of the top ability required in our world today for leaders, managers, and any contributors within an organisation. With the rise of the digital era, organizations are going to get leaner with more teams created based on business needs, and therefore, the skill to connect and influence across matrix is going to be the new future of work.

TrainingGearAsia has big dreams to shift and transform perspectives to develop new behaviours for success. We want to shift, shape and sharpen the new talent and development landscape through discovering the modern science of human motivation, to ignite new possibilities and performance. In TrainingGearAsia, it is not about the training, but it is about Shifting, Shaping and Sharpening People and Leadership Performance for the new future. Today.

After all, it’s about getting things done through people and not technology. Our influence without authority program has gained significant momentum across the Asia Pacific, and this movement on how leaders can lead without authority is a spirit behind TrainingGearAsia, where we aspire to see a world where leaders succeed because they too believe in the success of their people.

Career Conversation It is not about retaining talent, but how we can ensure our talent return to us. We introduced the career conversation movement in 2011. Since early 2015, there has been an increasing need to re-look at talent retention from an entirely new perspective. Career conversation impact how we attract new hires, redefining the future version of leadership, and uncovering the intrinsic motivation of employees, leading to a sustainable engagement and pipeline of returning talent The spirit of this movement is about closing the gap between leaders and people. If leaders can work towards supporting their people to succeed, we can revolutionize how we can attract, motivate and retain people.

Partnering for Success Collaboration is the big word today, but to us, it has always been the word. The ability of the people coming together is going to be one of the critical determinants of the success of any organisation in the future. It is not just about building profit, but equally important, building a group of people who watch out for one another because they are the one who can create advantage and opportunities.
