Dear Friends and Family of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School: It is with gratitude and good wishes that we send this edition of the OLSH Advancement Review to you. Having completed another very productive and successful year in the history of OLSH, we relish the opportunity to express our appreciation to our benefactors, who help to sustain and enrich our school, and ensure that an OLSH education remains relevant, distinctive, and within reach to families throughout our region. Please be assured that thoughtful, competent and intentional stewardship of your gifts is a responsibility we take very seriously. And your investment has yielded significant returns. OLSH is connected…to a plethora of friends, family members and a host of organizations, making new opportunities for learning, service and achievement possible for our students. OLSH is current…in technology resources, facilities, curriculum and knowledge. OLSH is mission-focused…actively engaged in the spiritual renewal of society, carrying out the Felician Sisters’ core values, celebrating our faith, and fostering the ongoing formation of students, faculty, staff and others in the OLSH community. OLSH is blessed with a team that is dedicated…to working hard, in order to continue the Felician Sisters’ tradition and legacy, and ensure that our school fully accomplishes its newly developed 2014-2017 Strategic Plan. And OLSH is blessed by YOU. May God’s blessings surround and sustain you in the coming year and always.

Sincerely,

Terry O’Rourke Donoghue

Mission Statement of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School Rooted in Catholic Felician Franciscan tradition, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School educates and transforms each student for a life of exceptional Christian leadership, stewardship, and service to all.

Blessed Angela Society The Blessed Angela Society was created to honor the individuals who have shown uncommon commitment to OLSH through planned giving. Individuals or foundations are eligible for membership in the Blessed Angela Society if they select OLSH as a beneficiary through a retirement plan, IRA, or life insurance policy. Planned giving builds the endowment fund for the school; therefore the donor is supporting tuition assistance, faculty support, and the expansion of academic and extracurricular activities. The success of the endowment fund ensures the continued and increased vitality of OLSH from one generation to the next. With such gracious benefactors, the long future that is paved ahead of OLSH is secure.

ACTIVE NAMED SCHOLARSHIPS: THE SUSAN FAHEY SCHOLARSHIP THE ALISON & KATIE MICHEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP YOUTHTOWNE YOUNG SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIP

Tuition Assistance Fund – Tuition Assistance represents a vital component of OLSH Advancement efforts. Gifts to this program enabled 40% of OLSH families to receive financial aid.

FELICIAN SISTERS OF NORTH AMERICA Contributions to the OLSH Endowment – A gift to the OLSH endowment is a gift that is kept in perpetuity and invested in a way that protects the original amount (the principal) from inf lation. The income derived from the investment can provide a stable and somewhat predictable source of funding for academic programs and financial aid. The larger the endowment, the more income OLSH will have to support our various programs. With a gift to the OLSH endowment, you are helping to support the education of a future generation of young men and women. As the endowment grows and becomes a dependable income stream, OLSH no longer has to depend solely on tuition to provide for its substantial financial requirements. These gifts are critical to the future of OLSH.

PA Tax Credit Programs Businesses in the state of Pennsylvania can reallocate funds from their state taxes to be used for tuition assistance at OLSH. The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program and the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) program allow businesses to receive a 90% tax credit (if donating for two consecutive years), and families at OLSH receive tuition assistance. The Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School Scholarship Organization was established to allow local businesses the opportunity to direct their donations to OLSH with 100% of the funds donated going to the students.
