Our Mission Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School is a Catholic educational ministry of the Felician Sisters, rooted in the Franciscan spirit and Gospel values.

We encourage academic excellence, provide for the education of the whole person, and welcome all students into a loving and challenging Christian community which professes the sacredness of life.

We provide a solid spiritual and academic foundation on which to build a strong faith, shape a discerning intellect and prepare students for a life of Christian leadership, stewardship, and service to God’s people.

With Heartfelt Gratitude Dear Friends, The pages of this Advancement Review contain yet another chapter in the story of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School. It is a story that began long ago by the foundress of the Felician Sisters, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and continues today through the commitment of the Felician Sisters and the generosity of those individuals, businesses, and foundations listed within these pages.

Blessed Mary Angela once said “give to all without exception.” Those words certainly rang true during her time, and they most definitely ring true today. A central part of the OLSH mission is to ensure that young men and women are given

the opportunity to experience an OLSH education

despite their financial

circumstances…without exception. This simply would not be possible without the philanthropic support OLSH receives each and every year, and for that, I thank you for embracing the words of Blessed Mary Angela.

The OLSH Fund is the cornerstone of philanthropic giving at Our Lady of the

Dear Friends of OLSH, On behalf of the OLSH student body, I would like to thank all current and future benefactors for their support of OLSH. Without your support many students would not have the opportunity to experience a first class, transformational, OLSH education. As I look back at my last three years at OLSH I realize the importance of your support.

OLSH is much more than a high school, it’s a family. A family that works together, plays together, and most importantly prays together. As I have immersed myself in all aspects of OLSH life, I realize how fortunate I am to be a part of this community.

Many families rely on financial support, and it is your support that allows many deserving students to be a part of OLSH. OLSH has allowed me to grow academically, spiritually, and socially. Academically, I am challenged on a daily basis.

Courses are diversified and teachers are enthusiastic about their work. I am proud of my academic accomplishments. Spiritually, OLSH has impacted me in a profound way. I came to OLSH as a person of the Serbian Orthodox faith. Being a part of the OLSH community inspired me to convert my Junior Year and to embrace my new Catholic faith. Socially, the options at OLSH are endless, from sporting events to extra-curricular clubs, to shows and dances; there is never a dull moment.

OLSH is not just educating a student; they are educating a whole person. Our faculty and staff are preparing us for our futures, whatever they may be. Thank you for supporting the future; the future of our school, and the future of each and every student. Thank you for making the OLSH mission possible.

OLSH Legacy Gala

The OLSH Legacy Gala was held on Saturday, April 9 at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport. This annual event both celebrates and advances the mission of OLSH. The evening's festivities included the First Niagara Bank cocktail hour, selections from the spring musical, the awarding of the OLSH Legacy Award, and live and silent auctions. The event, sponsored by SOTA Construction Services, Inc., was well attended by teachers, parents, alumni and friends of OLSH. Jim and Joan Michel were chosen as this year’s recipients of the Legacy Award for their dedication to the school over the years.
