Hello! My name is Kevin Tsaih, and I am a designer who graduated from Shih Chien University, Department of Industrial Design. With a sparkling personality I have enjoyed life to the fullest and given the best of myself during my living. My nickname in college is "瓜 (Qua)", in mandarin there is a saying, 種瓜得瓜，種豆得豆 - as you sow, so shall you reap, Do put all effort into daily life to seek out the best in it. My education and experience so far has equipped me with the skills and confidence to face a wide range of designs. From getting into the minds of consumer, to presenting a refined or innovative solution, I have always felt in love doing so. Temp Traveler x The Familiar-Unfamiliar / 2012 Traveling in Taiwan, you can discover ancient temples hidden around in the alleys. Every town has up to more than 10 shrine or temples covered. Why such strong contrast could be seen in the streets and yet our everyday living is apart from it?

Concept In Eastern culture, the stable of a temple could also be meaning of gathering, surrounding it would be mostly our everyday life. Worshiping and celebration, the lights inside never gets put out, implying the continuously of humanity, also symbolizing the heritage of generations. Far away from collapse and weaken; built from ebony, solid and incorruptible, adding both smell and looks. On the structure, "Dougong", a kind of eastern latch, giving the temple a strong support and steadiness when earthquake hits. Taking these ideas developed into an Eastern floor lamp, making the characteristics of the structure as well as the light transmittance much appealed. Last using entity and emptiness to enlarge the structure.

Inspiration Dougong is a unique structure element of interlocking wooden brackets, one of the most important elements in traditional Chinese architecture. Dougong is also an ornament which is one of the remarkable features of classical Chinese architecture, it contains profound Chinese traditional culture and embodies the ancient Chinese guarded hierarchy. Most of these are very difficult to build. Because pieces are fitted together by joinery alone without glue or fasteners, due to the precision and quality of the carpentry. It's construction is very time consuming. However, it can't be found in vernacular dwellings. That's why I want to bring Dougong into the home and make it become a part of life. Furniture is closely related to our living.

Thinking Lines come in both authentic and virtual. Like lights, electric waves or heat they can’t be touched but do exist and create lines either can be seen or not. From above I’ve thought of products that also create lighting possibilities and can bring eviornmental feelings into life. So such as heating products, fan, night vision goggles could come in, Ilast I’ve chosen projector since I think it would not only bring out one vision of lines but many.

Combining with the smoothness placed in a space (room). Also projecting speed with lines. The changes would let the space extend in one direction.
Development Remove the heavy weight like looking of a projector, by changing the outer shell, exposing some parts of the projector. Turning it more fluent look like and less weighted. Also making it to be more efficient in heat cooling. Using an outlook of floating to create changes of virtual and visualize. With a 360 degree spin projection, magnifying the light movement motion and a greater usage in room and space. Could be used in such places like work office or maybe into environment projection in the future.

RECO Graduation Design / 2014 People who travel to the Pacific Islands have increase these days. Since so, many hotel or resorts have been built around. But with so much tourism can the islands still be the same? Can we still enjoy such magnificent place while keeping the environment unharmed?

Scenario As tourism and leisure economy prosper, scenic attractions bring in tens of thousands of visitors every year. Places such as islands, beaches, and lakesides are equipped with beautiful sceneries and rich natural resources where ecotourism and aquatic activities are provided on a regular basis. With the building along side these attractions of high-end hotels and vacation villas come not only the booming economy, but also the challenge of environmental preservation. We aim to bring in an effective solution for the tourism industry to help them overcome the environmental issues caused by the ever popular aquatic activities.

Condition aspect Common problems shared by attractions such as islands, beaches, and lakesides:

1. Permanent damage to eco-surroundings caused by overwhelming tourists and excessive aquatic activities. 2. Potential danger caused by improper/unergonomic postures and difficulties in operating a traditional jet ski by inexperienced users. 3. Administrative chaos caused by the lack of systematic management approach despite the high similarities in the looks of common jet skis from manufacturers in the market.

To investigate the stability, we make two different widths small model made into the tank were attached a stick, manufactured by the same degree of shaking wave test, the extent of the small wooden swing is the direction we could choose. Recreational attractions are mostly visited by couples or groups, it is important that we ensure ample space and comfort for passenger of one or more. We considered the structure of a catamaran for stability and the frame of a motorcycle for ease of adjusting sitting postures.

Renewable energy has proved to be a trend that will continue into the future. Air-powered techniques have long been applied in automobiles. While earlier pneumatic engines emits louder noises, our research has pointed us to a more recent model where the piston is installed onto a single cylinder motor that uses compressed air to drive the movement of such motor. The compressed air enters the inner cylinder through 6 air cells. While the axle resolves, the air surrounding the axle offers the possibilities of zero frictions when compressing the air and working with the engine. As thereâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s nearly no noise generated with pneumatic engine, we found this technology perfectly suitable for our product.

Technology Compressed air is stored in an accumulator 200 liters of carbon fibers that are able to withstand the pressure of 350bar and 850 degrees Celsius. A light car traveling at 70 km per hour, it is sufficient to make the compressed air reservoir ran 300 kilometers. Of efficiency, because the cylinder electric vehicle battery charging inflated compared to the need to fast for several hours also many (only about 1-3 minutes), so I chose instead use pneumatic power engines. Perimeter of the island does not exceed the average tourist area 10km, we set so that visitors can have twice the margin around the island, after the translation of RECO need to configure two 8-liter cylinders will be enough to let visitors within a reasonable distance, getting to spots then go to next marina.

Capacity of 175kl is able to drive 220km, so the amount we need is 16kl. Concidering the weight planting only 2 bottles on each side the dimensions would be R18cm*60cm each.

Features Visitors rent the vehicle at leasing stations by the shore. While at sea, system alerts the rider of low air in gas tank and asks if the rider would want to be navigated to the nearest air station. Also, riders could elect to return the vehicle at a different location so long as the returning station shares the same merchant database.

The iron hooks at the front tip are used for anchoring. Unlike regular jet skis which require significant labor parking onshore, RECO is designed to work on waters and stay on waters.

RECO is named after the first letter of four of its main features - Ride, Eco-friendly, Craft, and Ocean. Combining yet redefining these vocabularies, RECO is a modern day watercraft inspired by green energy and user comfort, both concepts trending but lacking in the jet skis in the existing market. Designed for enthusiasts of aquatic activities and even lifeguards by the waters, RECO leaps significant steps in practice as well as aesthetics. Positively echoing the advocates of the tourism industry, RECO utilizes the ever progressing pneumatic engine technology to attain zero pollution for watercrafts and further presents itself as the jet ski in the future.

Inspiration When on overseas business traveling, you would waste a great time on packing lugage. No mater how carefully you packed your trunk or suits, it just wouldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t come as the same, after a long flight. Upon arrival you would find it crumpled! Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s when it would get embarrassing during meetings. So starting to think how to pack a formal suit, when you take it out it would be still flatten. Without wrinkled clothe at the meeting, making business travels a better experience.

Idea On bussiness trips, suits could easily get wrinkles during packing and unpacking suitcases. Hanger. Know is a combination inbetween hanger and clothe folding plates. It uses square plate structure to fold clothes. Through the sliding track structure, Hanger.Know could transformfrom a cloth folding plate into a hanger in one motion. Without changing the plate, the clothe could be prepared into the right hanging form. In addition, Hanger.Know thoughtfully designed an additional space for hanging pants or accessories.

Concept Chopping . Know is a two side use chopping board. With both kinds of advantage, wood or bamboo boards are great for chopping and cutting hardly, while plastic boards are easy to bend and pour things in to pot or pan and also light weighted. Combined of both kinds Chopping . Know is a new way to cook, whipping away all the bad experience you once had, once again bringing joy into the kitchen, making you fall in love with cooking.

Rough Sketches At the begining, the main idea was to create a bendable wooden structure so that it could have both needs. But in order to doing so there were too many gaps created so tried out few mock up models to figure out how much pieces were needed to pour down the things that were chopped and figure out using rubber filling in the gap would solve the problem where peices of food would fall inside, also it could be bended as well. Then the conncetion in between PE and Wood can be connected by the material Rubber. Where rubber and wood can be made by Double injection mold.

Identity Design client / Pieman Pieman is a homemade pie selling online store, since nowadays click businesses are usually more flexible than brick-and-mortar operations. It's Chinese pronunciation means villain in Taiwanese, with a bit hidden meaning of locals.
