What began in 1971, has grown to become one of Switzerland’s most important business schools, with around 2,000 students attending bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes and as many again enrolled in continuing and executive education. With the passage of time, the Lucerne School of Business has set the pace in Central Switzerland’s business education landscape and built up close ties with industry, government and third-sector partners.
These days, the School operates in such forward-looking areas as Tourism and Mobility, Banking and Finance, Communication and Marketing, Business IT and Regional Economics. This broad thematic spread is the substance of our reputation as the pre-eminent centre of excellence for entrepreneurial and management education in Central Switzerland. With numerous wide-ranging collaborative ventures involving national and international partners, the Lucerne School of Business prepares its students for roles in a globalised economy.
Continuing and Professional Education Applied Research Continuing and Professional Education (most offers in German) The Lucerne School of Business offers postgraduate courses that confer an Executive Master of Advanced Studies (Executive MBA), a Master of Advanced Studies (as opposed to MSc degrees, see Master’s), a Diploma of Advanced Studies, or a Certificate of Advanced Studies upon completion. The students completing these programmes attend in conjunction with their work-related commitments. Study-Week Programmes (in English and in German) The Lucerne School of Business offers interesting Study-Week programmes in various fields of study. They provide a mixture of lectures and workshops taught by experienced practitioners and are held together with partner universities, for example in Thailand and the United States. Cooperation with companies offers a practical insight into your field of study.
Applied Research The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is involved in conducting applied research and development. The main goal of R&D at the Lucerne School of Business is to provide scientifically-based solutions for business problems arising not only in Central Switzerland but in the rest of the country and worldwide. These efforts focus on creating direct advantages for enterprises, government, and not-forprofit bodies.

International networking is a key success factor in the globalised economy, which is why the Lucerne School of Business fosters close relations with universities and partner institutions in major economies. Our partner network comprises long-established Erasmus exchange partnerships within Europe, as well as key overseas partners in North America and Asia in particular. Exchanging students in both directions is just one of the aspects of the international network. Joint research projects and dual degrees, especially in the realm of master’s programmes, are becoming increasingly important.
BSc in International Management and Economics Students who are looking for a bachelor’s programme that will provide them not only with a solid foundation in General Management and Economics, but with a truly international perspective as well, should consider the BSc in International Management and Economics. This programme provides them with: – an understanding of contemporary management theory and practice – an insight into global relationships, organisations and policies – and a thorough grounding in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Master’s Master’s Degrees in English At the Lucerne School of Business the master’s programmes are organised as work-study programmes during which the students hold a part-time position (up to 50%) in a field corresponding to the respective programme, or in an organisation with a strong international orientation.
MSc in Finance and Banking (one semester in English) Students who are looking for a master’s programme which will provide them with substantial knowledge in the area of finance and will equip them with excellent career opportunities in a bank or the finance department of a company should consider the MSc in Finance and Banking.
MSc in Business Administration, Major in Tourism The widespread desire to travel, combined with the continually growing portion of the global population who can afford to do so, has triggered a protracted boom and sharpened the challenges faced by the industry, not least those connected with the need for sustainable forms of tourism. The MSc in Tourism prepares students to face these challenges.
MSc in International Financial Management The MSc in International Financial Management opens up good prospects of career development and promotion in global companies, as well as in SMEs with an international orientation.
