Well, here we are - I can’t believe summer is waning and kids are in school. I was waxing nostalgic for September (fall is my favorite time of year) and thought I’d kick off the newsletter with some September song lyrics. Some of you may have caught my moon phase references above (waning and waxing). This is what comes of paying attention to what my kids are learning!

And speaking of learning, I’ve got two things for you, one fun and one that will change your business for the better, if you let it.

First, the fun:

Apparently September is a popular theme for song writers: http://www. thecavanproject.com/20-songs-aboutseptember/ . From Plain White T’s to Carol King, Earth, Wind and Fire and Frank Sinatra, September has inspired musicians.

Second, more “good stuff”!

For those of us in the real estate world, back to school generally signals a bit of a breather from the crazy summer months; hopefully you found time to relax over Labor Day (instead of laboring) and to start thinking about how you want to end this year in your business and start the new one.

It is never too early to start planning for next year’s success. As we move into the fall market and prepare not only for winter, but for next year as well, the importance of future planning cannot be underestimated.

In this Business Insider article entitled, “Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail” the author emphasizes the fact that, “One of the common reasons given for business failure is the absence of a workable marketing plan.” He even goes on to discuss that marketing plans have two main elements – (1) Goals and (2) Strategies to achieve them.
