Chess Design: Rook Narrative: I decided to make four twisting rectangular objects into one direction to retain the format of rook, and put the sword inside to represent the cross of the earth and chariots. Moreover, the sword inside the chess can represent the power of the earth, which means the only live around whole solar system. In addition to the sword, I also put the sphere on the top of the chess to represent not only the symbol of earth and chariot but also emphasis the theme in our team.

Kite Workshop As I’m actually visiting the site, I was inspired that why not doing the topic which shows the connection between human and nature, and the disconnection between city and park. Therefore , I decided to do the mapping which shows the different type of boundary.

My design is a kite workshop at the place that was chosen, where located at the eastern entrance of Golden Gate Park at the intersection of Stanyan and Haight streets.

Taking the advantage of ramp at the site, I decided to create the sense of slitting going down to the park and connect to the nature.

Narrative: The word I choose to describe the site is “connection”, and the other word for my building is “discovery”. The reason I choose the word “discovery” because I want people to discover the connection between the human (city) and the nature (park). Therefore, I decided to create a series of wall which represents the disconnection of space. I have also put holes on those walls, allowing people to discover the connection between one space to another space.

Student Dorm Design Basic information of the site. Include: sunlight study, stairs, bus station, and Actual view of the sitee.

My design is a Student Dorm at the place that was chosen, where located at the cliff at 249 Lombard St.

Design process: Circulation study For the Private Path, I was inspiring by the ancient viking symbolic of connection (interlocking triangle). I’m first rising the two corner and try to figure out the 3 dimension path should be look like. Then, I decreased three corner of the path to create the infinite interlocking path.

I want to create two special interlocking path, which connect and intersect to each other. Therefore, when people walking through the path they can see and greeting to each other. In addition to the connection and intersection, I’m intended to create the interesting gathering space between private and public path to increase the chance of interaction between one and another.
