(1) Endowment returns were 10.8% in 2010/11 and 13.8% in 2009/10 (net of external management fees). Investment earnings in % terms could be different from the dollar returns because of timing of new contributions and timing of returns throughout the year. Investment earnings are shown net of an administrative charge of 0.65%.

(2) Spending Allocation is 3.5% of 3-year average market value.

(3) Restoration of Endowment Value is 10% of the January 1, 2009 deficit deducted each year from the spending allocation until 2019 or until the market value recovers to the level of the total contributions to March 31, 2009, adjusted for inflation (whichever comes first).
