Redstone Update 2017 Redstone Arsenal is the economic engine that powers roughly half of the Huntsville metro economy. For those of us who don’t work there, Redstone can be confusing with all of the acronyms, oddly named military commands and other lesserknown federal agencies. Those who are familiar with the Arsenal have few opportunities to learn about many of the other activities that lie outside their immediate area of responsibility. Redstone is the nation’s nerve center for Army materiel management and a leading center for federal research and development. Redstone is the center of gravity for the Missile Defense Agency and the home of the Army’s aviation, missile, and missile defense programs and commands. It also serves as NASA’s nerve center for development of space exploration systems and space science. Significant FBI and ATF explosives research labs and test ranges are also located on Redstone Arsenal. Commands and Agencies located on Redstone are responsible for the efficient management of well over $50 billion in federal spending.

The Chamber will host a half day “Redstone Update” seminar and a luncheon in the last quarter of 2017 to featuring presentations from Redstone’s diverse tenants to provide information concerning where these commands and the installation are headed in the future.

Montgomery Trip 2018 The Chamber’s annual trip to the Alabama Capitol provides an opportunity to meet with key leaders in state government and to remind them of the critical role they play in our success as a region. Past trips have included meetings with members of the Governor’s Cabinet and the leadership of the Alabama Legislature. Local businesses and elected leaders who participate find it an excellent opportunity to network with other community leaders and familiarize themselves with Montgomery and our critical state issues. The Montgomery Trip will be an overnight stay.

American and Alabama Flag Display at Chamber Events August 2017 – July 2018 Sponsor the Chamber’s huge American and Alabama flags for 2017-18! These flags will hang at many Chamber-sponsored events such as the Washington, Alabama and Local Updates and at the Armed Forces Celebration Luncheon. Your sponsorship of these flags as a patriotic backdrop for these events will be noted in both printed and electronic programs during each event. This is an effective and positive statement of your organization’s support of our community and its many partners (such as Redstone Arsenal and the Marshall Space Flight Center) and will reach a large and varied audience.

Space Launch System (SLS) Green Run Engine Test and Fabrication Tour The countdown clock is ticking toward the first launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) in 2018 and NASA is busy building and testing key components of the rocket. In order to help build awareness of the program’s achievements, the Chamber is arranging a tour of the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, including the Green run test of the four RS 25 engines that will provide propulsion for the core stage of the rocket, and a tour of the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, where the Core Stage of the SLS rocket is being manufactured. The overnight trip will include bus transportation from Huntsville, a reception in New Orleans, and meals. Buildout of the stand was required due to the length of the SLS Core Stage, which stretches to almost 212 feet from the top of the forward skirt to the exit plane of the four RS-25. This will be the last static engine test prior to the launch of the SLS System.

Member Connection eblast

YOUR LOGO HERE

August 2017 – July 2018 The Member Connection is sent to over 5,500 Chamber members and key stakeholders twice monthly. It is designed to provide direct member-to-member marketing opportunities. This sponsorship opportunity gives sponsoring companies high-impact visibility to more than 11,000 recipients every month, as well as thousands more through eblast pass-alongs and on our website. The eblast and digital format allows a recipient to forward the email or share via social media. They also can share the link to Member Connection on our website via their social media channels, etc. The Member Connection works like this: Members provide a PDF “flier” showcasing their announcement, news, message or event (ex: a discount, event, or even a new staff member). We also use the Member Connection to welcome our new members and new HREGI investors. In addition to the eblast, the fliers also will be posted on the Chamber website under Member Connection until the next issue comes out. This is an excellent opportunity to reach thousands of local businesses and their employees with your company message. The Member Connection has an average eblast open rate of 23% which is above the industry average of 22%.

CRP Trolley Tech Tours 2018 The CRP Trolley Tech Tour returns for a second year with new trolley stops and visits to companies in the Park. Have you ever wondered what kinds of companies call CRP home and what are the cool things they do on a daily basis? Here’s your chance to learn more about who you share a backyard with. Join us as we trolley hop from company to company with food and adult beverages at each stop. Presenting these topics/places for 2018: It’s a Bird….It’s a Plane…It’s in CRP! Join us in May as we visit companies that make birds-of-a-feather flock together, whether by land or by air. Innovating for Our Military Today and Tomorrow In late summer we’ll again highlight a few of the aerospace/defense companies that are globally focused and locally fueled in CRP. Weather Aware, Where You Live And our final 2018 Trolley Tech Tour will keep an eye to the skies in November, our second-most active weather month in the Tennessee Valley, when we visit and experience companies and organizations that keep our region weather-aware.
