Bike Race Town USA!
The 2023 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Cup is coming to the USA for the first time ever, and Huntsville is hosting! We invite you to make your company/ team a big part of the festivities from May 26–29. Encourage your employees to come out and cheer loudly – the athletes would love to see big cheering sections along the course.
Here are some ideas for your company to participate in the World Cup:
Adopt a tailgate spot for your employees & race spectators
Some companies are along the race route, so please set up an employee event! If you’re not along the course, we’ve identified other viewing areas where your group can set up. Bring shade tents, lawn chairs, fun music, food, drinks, and snacks. In some spots, you might want to bring in a food truck nearby! You can also bring noisemakers or put up flags, because athletes from 30+ countries are coming, including a large team from Team USA! We’re really focusing these tailgating spots for May 28 and 29 for the road races.
Cheers & Celebration
We’ll end the race with a bang with the team vs. team hand-cycle relay near Columbia High School and HudsonAlpha at 7 p.m. on May 29 and a big fireworks show! The entire Huntsville community is invited to stay for the fireworks show beginning around 7:45 p.m. in that same area.
Decorate a bike to display along Bike Row starting on Wednesday, May 24. The location of Bike Row is on the sidewalks leading up to the start/finish (just outside the entrance to Columbia High School) and up Moquin Drive toward the Athlete Village at HudsonAlpha – see map on back. Prior to the races, consider putting the decorated bike in your office lobby as a way to help promote the Para-Cycling World Cup to visitors. Click this link for an informational flyer you can print and attach to the bike!

A Study of Dallas and Lincoln Mills in Madison County Alabama
Tuesday, April 25 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Downtown Library Auditorium
Presenter: David Lilly
Dallas and Lincoln Textile Mills were twin factories and communities that existed to the north of Huntsville for almost a half century This program will explore their development and construction in the 1890’s as part of the remarkable growth of Huntsville as a textile mill center. The communities that grew up around these factories were unique and often fondly remembered by those who worked and lived there The presenter will also explore why they were no longer part of the economic engine driving Huntsville’s economy and why they eventually closed in mid-1900’s. ----------www.LQUEST.org 256.529.8695

During her time with the firm, Emily gained valuable knowledge in both taxes and CFO services for small businesses processing invoices, bills, and payroll; reconciling bank and credit card statements; and meeting with business owners at the end of each month to present and explain their financial statements and assist with financial planning. As she transitioned out of public accounting, Emily moved into the role of Director of Support Services at a small government contractor.
