VAA: The Visual Arts Achievement Program

A program of the Alabama State Council on the Arts, The Visual Arts Achievement (VAA) Program recognizes 16 middle school and high school students for their achievements in art. The Huntsville Museum of Art is the local VAA District V sponsor. The award-winning works will subsequently be a part of a virtual exhibition with other regional winners in April with the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

Great Hall

Youth Art Month is promoted and observed in March by the National Art Education Association and by the Huntsville-Madison County Art Education Association. It emphasizes the value of art education for all children and encourages public support for quality school art programs.

One high school work is chosen from Congressman Dale Strong’s Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District and will be sent to Washington, DC, to be displayed for one year.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND

The FREE Turner School of Construction Management (TSCM) for small, disadvantaged, minority-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned businesses is one of the most prestigious education and community outreach programs in the commercial construction industry. Initiated in 1969, the program has become an opportunity for firms to improve their economic viability by enhancing their managerial, technical and administrative skills, as well as develop strategic business relationships throughout the industry. Today, TSCM is offered in more than 30 of Turner’s offices nationwide.
