Tape Printing and Converting Division Our in-house tape printing team in the Midlands has over 40 years experience in printing and converting self-adhesive tapes. On-going investment has ensured we remain competitive for large volume printing but also cater for smaller quantities if required. Versatility of Printed Tape Tape printed with a logo or message is an effective way to brand your parcels, advertise your company and improve presentation. You can add a warning or information about the handling of your product, print bar codes or QR codes or use it for differentiating items and shipments. A bespoke tape can also act as a deterrent from theft during transportation and storage.

In-house plate making and printing ensures that you donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have to wait too long before your design goes into production. We can print your logo or message on to a variety of tape films; high quality vinyl, polypropylene, paper and non-adhesive polythene. Digital overprinting on packaging materials When considering bespoke packaging, you may have been discouraged by large minimum order quantities, big set up charges and printing plate costs. With the advances in digital technology these obstacles have been removed. Digital printing gives good results, whether it is text or multicoloured pictures or logos. Super Strong Single Wall Boxes Super Strong Boxes are a modern alternative to double wall boxes, suitable for sending heavy or fragile items. They are very strong single wall cases and offer a cost saving against double wall cases. Transport and storage costs are reduced as there are more boxes per pallet than the comparable size in double wall corrugated board. • Economic alternative to double wall cases • Kinder to the environment due to less material used and less storage and transportation costs • Good for medium heavy loads, a stronger box than our standard single wall cases • Mix and match sizes, minimum of any one size is just one pack

Plastic hand holds provide a smart, secure and easy method for carrying cartons. They eliminate the need for tilting the box before lifting, ensuring the safety of the products inside, as well as protecting the person. A wide variety of Hand Hold styles are available.

Our Two Part Barrel Locks are great for sealing Heavy Duty Corrugated Cases and Pallet Packs, like our SB420 on page 18, that have a removable lid and/or base. Unlike strapping or tape, the twist locks can be undone so that the carton can be reopened and the contents checked or added to.

Printing Processes Your choice of print method depends on branding, quantity and budget. Our knowledgeable customer service team will be happy to advise. Digital Printing This is a newer type of printing which continues to advance. An image is sent directly to the printer using a digital file. The ink is applied directly onto the surface, removing the need for a printing plate. Often used for point of sale (POS), retail ready packaging (RRP), product launches and promotions, e-commerce packaging and most other applications where small quantities, large format or one-time designs are required. • Fast turnaround • Good print reproduction • Reduced production cost as printing plates are not required • Small quantities can be produced • Variable data allows personalization

Flexographic Printing This printing process uses a flexible rubber or polymer relief plate, also known as a stereo and the ink is applied over a steel roller. Packaging Tape Storage and Handling Adhesive tapes are best stored and applied in a clean environment. Tape should be stored ideally between 15-25°C, away from direct heat or light, and kept boxed on pallets or shelves. The optimum temperature for use is 18-20°C. If tape is stored in a colder environment, it should be brought into the warmth before use. When opening the box with a knife take care not to cut the rolls of tape inside. Damage to the roll edges either by a knife blade or as a result of roll being dropped, may cause the tape to tear when used. Avoid the tape splitting during application by using a tape dispenser and regularly replace the blade to ensure it stays clean and sharp.

Sealing Boxes Standard Seal (U-closure) The tape adhesive will perform better if the surface is free from dust and dirt and if the dispenser is used to apply the correct pressure when sticking the tape firmly against the box or surface. Unwind the tape firmly against the box allowing for an overlap of about 50mm to 70mm down the side of the box. For extra strength add tabs of tape either side of the U shape closure. Heavier Seal (H-closure) If a stronger seal is required, the tape is applied first to seal the flaps and then along the width of the box at both ends to form a 'H' seal. Apply filament tape around the box for extreme handling.

Tape Suitability The performance of a packing tape is dependent upon its characteristics including the backing and adhesive. Other factors contributing to its effectiveness are; environmental conditions during application, storage and transportation; the board material quality of the box to be sealed; the weight and contents of the package.
