MAY WED 25 • 8pm AN ARC STOCKTON PRODUCTION

GOING VIRAL

WRITTEN AND PERFORMED BY DANIEL BYE DIRECTED BY DICK BONHAM

SEE 2 GROW SHOWS FOR

£15

An aeroplane flies from Uganda to England. Everyone on board is weeping. Everyone except you. On the ground, the weeping spreads. Is it a strange new disease? An outbreak of hysteria? Or has the world become genuinely sad? In this uncanny, high-definition world we are all more connected, more vulnerable, and more human - but not equally so.

MAY THUR 26 • 8pm

GET YOURSELF TOGETHER WRITTEN AND PERFORMED BY JOSH COATES DIRECTED BY ANNA RYDER

Is it my fault I’m like this? Is it my fault I’m angry? One Christmas, Josh was diagnosed with depression, then hit by a car. The following year he was on Job Seekers, balancing his sanity and gift buying. A show about being ill and being fit for work. A show that explores the line between clinical and political.

Tickets £10 CONC. £8

MAY FRI 27 • 8pm

SOME PEOPLE HAVE TOO MANY LEGS WRITTEN AND PERFORMED BY JACKIE HAGAN DIRECTED BY RIKKI BEADLE-BLAIR

Tickets £10 CONC. £8

“Jackie, now you’ve had your leg off you could be a Paralympian!” “Yeah, just as much as you could be an Olympian, I’m gonna carry on being me...” Jackie Hagan spent the summer of 2013 in hospital. It was a boot-camp in coping and seeing the humour in the dark places. She lost a leg, fell in love and made best friends with a narky old woman called Edna.

THUR 26 MAY • 10am – 1pm INTERACT, £10

WORKSHOP THE THEATRE IS BASICALLY A PUB, WITH DAN BYE

WED 25 MAY • 6pm - 8pm

Lots of theatre pretends the audience isn’t there. This workshop starts from the assumption that the audience can participate directly in what is happening. Drawing on techniques derived from clowning, stand-up comedy and storytelling, this workshop looks simply and directly at making theatre which is always present and responsive to its audience.

Join Artistic Director Mark Babych and the team at Hull Truck Theatre to celebrate the launch of this year’s Grow Festival. A welcome will be followed by a panel discussion led by David Byrne, Artistic and Executive Director of New Diorama Theatre, that starts with the provocations: • Why do some cultural organisations fail to be truly diverse? • Is there evidence that artist development programmes are bridging the access gap into the industry for emerging artists? Other panellists include Charlotte Bennett, Artistic Director of Forward Theatre Project, Gilly Roche, Associate Producer at West Yorkshire Playhouse and Dawn Walton, Artistic Director of Eclipse Theatre Company.

THUR 26 MAY • 6pm – 8pm GROW GARDEN, FREE, ADVANCE BOOKING REQUIRED
