A new nuclear research facility situated in City of Vernon, California which is very close to Downtown Los Angeles. It includes museum, laboratory, office and a 17 mile long Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In the earlier semester, the design has been focus on the different types of radiation system and particle scripting. The nuclear research museum has been fully develop for the ďŹ nal. The museum has a very unique circulation that only one path to walk throughout the entire galleries. For the larger, visitors will have a chance to experience and learn an unclear machine in a little distance. Then, they will move on to other gallery space and come back to the to the space on a higher view with more knowledge from the other gallery space. The structure of the building is a large tension ring system holding all the piping frame. The galleries and circulation are tied around the piping frame.

Uncanny provokes notions of idiosyncrasy. In general, uncanny refers to familiar objects which have been transformed in such way as to create a strange and awkward effect. In architecture, this form of strange or uncanny architecture is most commonly found in nineteenth century haunted houses. This typology used awkward effects in order to create a scary ambience. This thesis aims to explore notions of awkwardness, in order to create uncanny architecture. Furthermore, the uncanny is manifested in architecture by techniques if bastardization and asymmetry, in order to create these awkward and idiosyncratic effects to a particular building. Lastly, this thesis was tested as a building project in Downtown Chicago. The new uncanny architecture was inserted into a familiar context, with the familiar and aesthetic of the surrounding architecture, but with a sense of bastardization. Furthermore, a simple rectilinear box mass was transformed into an asymmetrical and awkward composition, as to juxtapose the adjacent architecture. The building also utilizes a cross brace structure, speciďŹ cally the John Hancock Center, on a typical Chicago frame structure. The Chicago frame is no longer about structure efficiency. It is used to create an extraordinary sense of scale such as the irregular windows in the context. By bastardizing these two systems, the project has an unbelievable sense of the scale. The uncanny architecture is able to achieve the effect that is beyond what is normal.

The new mass is a free standing object, built out of extruded bricks. While the bricks are either concave or convex in their spatial appearance the visual effects change due to their speciďŹ c coloration - pink and blue. The perception of the building becomes ambiguous, the thickness of its facade is no longer a fact dictated by its materiality but by elements of light, shadow and color. The coloration exaggerates those effects, by painting what is concave - convex and what is convex - concave. What seems thin is thick and vice versa. Reality becomes an instable condition.

The space is design for chamber music artists. The different be- tween Chamber Permute and other music centers are Chamber Per- mute combine performance, recording, and residents all in one building. Mostly, they rent the space to a group of artists for 3-4 months. Seasonal artists come and stay for performing and recording albums. The 30 artists have been divided to 8 small groups from tiro to quintet. The way of choosing the ensembles is basic on popularity. There are 3 tiro, 4 quartet, and 1 quintet with string instruments, wind instru- ments, and pianos. Each group can be easy to change to another similar ensembles (see table). They can also join or brake up to a larger or smaller group. The permutation of the group becomes the most interesting part of space.

Aqueous Mass was a collaborative installation with Intel, W Hotels, and Vice Magazine. It is part of the four stories series for Intel Ultrabook in six W Hotels worldwide. The initial idea was creating a new atmosphere for the Intel Ultrabook and allow the user to interact with the atmosphere. Since it has to be showed at six different locations, we created the hexagon folded aluminum that allows the installations to be easy to pack, ship and assemble. The shape of installations is very pretty and unique but it is also very efficient.

IOI City Phase I is an extension to IOI Resort City in Putrajaya. The new phase includes retail spaces, ice skating rinks, hotels and offices. The design is inspired by the palm tree leaf from the beautiful IOI Resort City. We widely use the shape of leaf and color in the design. As a design intern, I had involved doing multiple interior designs for the office lobby and the shopping mall’s ceilings. Moreover, and exterior skin of shopping mall. I was also in charge of coordinate colors and materials for the design development package.

CRC Shanghai is located on the metro line 10 in the heart of Shanghai. The shopping mall connected to the metro station along with museums and low-rise apartments on the site. Since it is on the prime location, the client is excepting a high-end significant design. We started by a series of drawing of rivers in Shanghai and come out the final proposal. My job was transferring project manager’s sketch into Revit and modify the model to fit the client requirement and building code. Moreover, I mode and define architectural detail such as guardrail, escalator, elevator in Revit.
