Home Advantage Terms and Conditions

HOME ADVANTAGE

• These terms and conditions relate to your participation in Home Advantage (known as the "Project" in this document), led by Hubbub Foundation to help reduce your bills, live better and give your opinion on sustainability to help other households. Hubbub Foundation is a Registered Charity (No. 1158700) whose registered office is Somerset House, The Strand, London, WC2R 1LA

• The Project will commence from the 12th August 2024 and run until w/c 28th October 2024. If you wish to contact us at any time about the Project, please email homeadvantage@hubbub.org.uk

PARTICIPANT OBLIGATIONS

• By signing, you agree to receive information and communication about the Project from Hubbub Foundation via email, Facebook and WhatsApp.

• Participants are required to join a Facebook and WhatsApp Community group and take part in activities and give their opinions across eleven weeks from the week commencing 12 August 2024.

• Participants will be required to treat other members of the Facebook/WhatsApp group(s) with respect and comply with a code of conduct while taking part in the Project.

• Participants are required to complete two surveys on their knowledge, attitudes, habits, and behaviours around their food, energy and stuff used at home. These surveys will take place at the beginning of the Project and at the end of the Project.

• 15 participants will also complete a 45-minute phone call at the start and end of the Project and be notified of this and given appropriate incentives.

INCENTIVES

• Participants will receive £165 via PayPal or bank transfer for taking part. £80 on completion of the first survey and £80 on completion of the final survey.

• The 15 participants who also complete a 45-minute phone interview about their experience at the start and end of the Project, will receive an extra £60 at the end of the Project.

• During Hubbub’s activities on the community Facebook/WhatsApp group(s), participants may receive prizes for completion of individual challenges or giving their opinions, to be judged by Hubbub.

OUR RIGHTS TO CANCEL AND REISSUE

• We may have to cancel the Project if any act or event beyond our reasonable control occurs, and we are unable to continue. We will contact you if this happens as soon as is reasonably possible to notify you.

• We may also cancel your participation in the Project at any time with immediate effect by giving you written notice if you break the terms of this agreement, and you do not correct the situation within a reasonable time of us asking you to do so in writing

PRIVACY POLICY

Hubbub Foundation will collect personal information of participants including information on their habits, views and attitudes around food, energy and use of stuff at home, and personal stories about how the Project has impacted their life. This Policy explains how we will use the information of participants.

Compliance and our main Customer Privacy Policy

Hubbub Foundation is committed to handling your information in line with data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation. We will keep your data secure and only use it in line with this Policy and our main Privacy Policy (full information, including your legal rights, can be found here).

Types of personal data collected

Hubbub Foundation may collect the following personal data about Project participants and (if actively shared) their household members:

• name and contact details such as email address and telephone number

• age, ethnicity, gender, and other biographical information (like who else is in your household)

• habits and behaviours, particularly in relation to how you use food, energy and the stuff you use at home

• preferences, opinions, attitudes, views, including on how you live and sustainability at home

• feedback from you on the Project or other issues, including via surveys or detailed interviews

• images and photographs

• your stories and experiences as a participant in the Project, including what you have learned and whether and how your habits have changed

• your communications with other participants and posts shared via a closed Project Facebook page/ WhatsApp group(s).

How we use your data

Personal data collected will be used for the purposes of the Project, in line with our main Privacy Policy and data protection law. More specifically we will use your information to:

• understand the best ways to encourage and support households to reach net zero

• inform future similar Hubbub projects

• promote the learnings of this Project with relevant stakeholders

• generate impact reports.

We will not use personal data captured through this Project to build up profiles of participants (or their family members) or for the purpose of sending direct marketing to participants.

We will not sell your personal data and will not share it with any third parties except our partners and service providers, who will keep it secure and not use if for their own purposes. You can find out more about our privacy policy here.

How will my information be used?

• Eligibility and start and end surveys

The information that is shared through the eligibility and start and end surveys will be used to shape the content we share within the project, and anonymously, to shape the recommendations we give to businesses and government at the end of the project. None of your identifiable personal information will be shared externally, this includes with project funders who may be your employer. Anonmyised data will be shared with our measurement partner.

• Photos and videos

Photos and videos shared across the Facebook and WhatsApp groups may be used to illustrate the activity of the project in follow-up reporting and case studies. Any photos and videos that we use will be shared using Alias names or phrases like ‘male, North-West, 50’s’. None of your identifiable personal information will be shared externally, beyond the Hubbub project team.

• Comments, discussions and engagement

Your engagement activity across Facebook and WhatsApp will be used to shape the recommendations we give to businesses and government at the end of the project. Information from your activity online with be used to identify key trends and themes across the group, and any direct quotes will be anonymized, using Alias names or phrases like ‘male, North-West, 50’s’. None of your identifiable personal information will be shared externally, beyond the Hubbub project team.

• Other people’s data

By taking part in the group, you agree to not share any information, photos, content or data that is shared across the Facebook group and WhatsApp community groups. All information shared in the groups, including photos, videos and comments, will be kept confidential.

• Spokespeople and case studies

At the end of the project, we’ll be creating case studies to share the findings of the project. We’ll reach out to you to ask your permission to opt in to be identifiable in these case studies, and if you would like to act as a spokesperson for the project, E.g. via press releases or a video. Otherwise, we may use any photos or quotes but these would be anonymised – see above.

Use of the Home Advantage Facebook Page and WhatsApp Groups

• As part of the Project, you will be invited to join a private Facebook group and a WhatsApp Community In the groups you will be encouraged to share photos, videos and posts about your experience together with what you are learning from the Project and what you are doing in the Project

• By taking part and engaging in the Facebook and WhatsApp Groups you agree that any information you share will be regarded non-confidential and non-proprietary, and we reserve the right to remove or moderate any posts or comments you make in our absolute discretion.

• Information and materials uploaded by other participants of the Facebook and WhatsApp Groups have not been verified or approved by us and the views expressed by other users on these do not represent our views or values.

Content Standards in relation to the Facebook/WhatsApp Group(s)

• These content standards apply to any and all material which you contribute to the Facebook Group and WhatsApp groups and to any other interactive services associated with the Project

• The Content Standards must be complied with, and any breach of these standards can lead to removal from the group and forfeiting relevant incentive payments. We will determine, in our discretion, whether a Contribution breaches the Content Standards.

A Contribution must:

• be accurate (where it states facts);

• be genuinely held (where it states opinions);

• comply with the law applicable in England, Scotland and Wales and in any country from which it is posted.

A Contribution must not:

• be defamatory of any person;

• be obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory;

• bully, insult, intimidate or humiliate;

• promote sexually explicit material;

• include child sexual abuse material;

• promote violence;

• promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age;

• infringe any copyright, database right or trademark of any other person;

• be likely to deceive any person;

• breach any legal duty owed to a third party, such as a contractual duty or a duty of confidence;

• promote any illegal content or activity;

• be in contempt of court;

• be threatening, abuse or invade another's privacy, or cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety;

• be likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any other person;

• impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person;

• give the impression that the Contribution emanates from us if this is not the case;

• advocate, promote, incite any party to commit, or assist any unlawful or criminal act such as (by way of example only) copyright infringement or computer misuse;

• contain a statement which you know or believe, or have reasonable grounds for believing, that members of the public to whom the statement is, or is to be, published are likely to understand as a direct or indirect encouragement or other inducement to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism;

• contain any advertising or promote any services or web links to other sites;

• disparage us or bring our name into disrepute.

Prohibited Use

You may use the Facebook/WhatsApp Group(s) and any other interactive services associated with the Project only for lawful purposes. You may not use the Facebook/WhatsApp Group(s) and any other interactive services associated with the Project:

• in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation;

• in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect;

• for the purpose of harming or attempting to harm minors in any way;

• to bully, insult, intimidate or humiliate any person;

• to send, knowingly receive, upload, download, use or re-use any material which does not comply with our content standards detailed above at Clause 6;

• to transmit, or procure the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material or any other form of similar solicitation (spam);

• to knowingly transmit any data, send or upload any material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware or any other harmful programs or similar computer code designed to adversely affect the operation of any computer software or hardware.

o You also agree:

• not to reproduce, duplicate, copy or re-sell any part of the Facebook/WhatsApp Group(s) and any other interactive services associated with the Project in contravention of the provisions of our terms of use in Clause 5;

• not to access without authority, interfere with, damage or disrupt:

o any part of the Facebook/WhatsApp Group(s) and any other interactive services associated with the Project;

o any equipment or network on which the Facebook/WhatsApp Group(s) and any other interactive services associated with the Project is stored;

o any software used in the provision of the Facebook/WhatsApp Group(s) and any other interactive services associated with the Project; or

o any equipment or network or software owned or used by any third party.

Limitation of Liability

As far as is permitted Hubbub will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate any participants or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of participating in the Project except where it is caused by our negligence. Your statutory rights are not affected.

These terms and conditions are governed by English law. You and we both agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. Nothing in these terms and conditions affects your statutory rights. For more information, please contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
