RELAX
in the sailing centre bar afterwards, and trade tall tales of the high seas.
P O LY- M E R Plastic Fishing takes place on board the world’s first 99% recycled plastic boat, Poly-Mer, and a fleet of smaller craft. Poly-Mer is a 12-seater punt built by Mark Edwards MBE, a Richmond-based boat builder who previously made the royal barge Gloriana.
PA R T O F A BIGGER JOURNEY We will use the plastic you collect to make more boats like Poly-Mer, creating a recycled flotilla to clean our waterways and raise awareness of issues around marine plastics.
1
Fish plastic from the docks.
3
Recyclable plastic will be used to make more boats.
2
Litter is fished and sorted on the shore.
WHY GO PLASTIC FISHING? FUN TEAM BUILDING Plastic Fishing is exciting, thought-provoking and socially valuable. It also gives you an incredible view of the Canary Wharf skyline.
AWARENESS RAISING At current rates there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050. Plastic Fishing is a powerful way to bring this sustainability issue to our doorstep.
BENEFITS THE LOCAL COMMUNITY Plastic Fishing is a partnership with Canary Wharf College, which introduced the activity to the UK. Profits are shared with the school. Hubbub’s income will go to running educational trips and activities for other schools around London to further the understanding of the marine plastics issue among young people, and promote pride in their environment.
