Overthepastyear,theHUBZoneCouncilhasbeenprivilegedtocloselycollaboratewiththe exceptionalteamattheDOE'sOfficeofSmallBusiness.Thiscollaborationbeganwithanoutreach eventinMay,coincidingwithSmallBusinessWeek,attheNETLlabinMorgantown,WV.The collaborationcontinuedwiththeDOE's2023SmallBusinessForum&Expo.Whileit'snosecretthat DOEhasfacedchallengesinmeetingsmallbusinessgoals,itsrelentlesseffortsareshapingalasting economictransformationandamoresustainablefuture.
ThisbecameevidentattheAgency'sSmallBusinessForum,wheretheyhostedanimpressivepitch competition,offeringsmallbusinessinnovatorsaplatformtoshowcasegroundbreakingsolutions withachancetowinagrandprizeof$100,000.Eachpitchservedasatestamenttoboundless possibilitieswhencreativityconvergeswithsustainability.Theknowledgeandcreativityemanating fromthepitchesleftanindelibleimpression,signifyingaturningpointthatcouldshapethe trajectoryofthefuture.
ScholarshipBasedonCaregiving
TheASBCRichardDeanMemorialScholarshipwasestablishedbytheAmericanSmallBusiness Coalition(ASBC)anorganizationco-foundedbyGo-To-GuyTimberlake,CEOandChiefVisionary OfficertohonortheworkandcontributionsofRichardDeaninsupportingandadvocatingforsmall businessesinthegovernmentcontractingandfederalprocurementsector.Thiskindofsupporthashada significantpositiveimpactonindividualsseekingtofurthertheireducationandcareersintheHUBZone Community.
ASBChaspartneredwiththeHUBZoneCouncilofferingtrainingandthisyearscholarshipstoitsmembers. Mr.Timberlakehasperfectedabootcampoverthelastdecadecalled“EthicalStalkingforGovernment Contractors®”wheretheyteachandcoachcompaniesonhowtorunagrowthorganizationincluding everythingfrommarketassessmenttostrategy,businessdevelopment,marketing,andcaptureusingrepeatable processes.
