Autumn Weddings 2008 The groom should dress to impress
A WEDDING day should be one of the most significant and memorable days of your life. As the groom, you should be equally as proud to stand in front of friends and relatives and shine in your best bib and tucker. Choosing the right attire is essential. This is your opportunity to throw your jeans aside and stand out from the crowd. Firstly, consult your fiancée. After all, it’s probably safe to say that she has a clear idea of your wedding colours and theme, and you’d certainly be frog-marched back up the aisle if you dared to clash! Once the wedding colours have been discussed, decide on the style you want to create. Men’s formal hire wear comes in various guises. Your basic rule should be comfort. It will be a long day and the more relaxed you are the better, so ensure that you, your best man and fellow attendants are happy with the style chosen. The early bird always catches the worm and ordering your outfits early is vital to ensure you get the style, colour and fabric you want. Traditional formal wear (for example, a morning suit) may be your preferred choice, and the sooner you select your ‘look’ the better. Traditionally, morning suits are black or shades of grey but rules are made to be broken and navy blue, bottle green or patterned versions with waistcoats, ties or cravats to complement your outfit, are a welcome breath of fresh air. Co-ordination is key. If possible, take along a swatch of the bridesmaid material, to ensure you match the colours and blend in with your chosen wedding theme. Buttonholes are another important consideration. Check before you go which flowers and colours you will be wearing.
When choosing your shoes, most designers recommend those without laces to create a smooth line. Finally, have fun!

Get organised and plan ahead well in advance for your big day SO, you think you are prepared and organised for the wedding of your dreams. Use our definitive checklist to make sure absolutely everything practical has been taken care of beforehand so you can enjoy the most important day of your life worry free! Have you? Agreed on a budget with your family and partner? A budget must be realistic so it is best to be aware of any hidden costs, for example, does the photographer's fee include the prints or will that be extra. It is also best to decide who is paying for what and if family are helping out, let them pay for less contentious items, as if they pay for it, they may feel as though they would like to have an element of control. Booked the church or registry office? If the location is a newly licensed venue, you will need to provisionally book the registrar, but you must confirm with them three months before the wedding date. You'll also have to meet and confirm arrangements with the minister to discuss the service, any readings and your choice of music Booked your wedding cars, photographer and video company? Make sure you choose a reputable company rather than just the cheapest quote that comes in. Your wedding photographs and video will prove to be priceless and a reputable car company will be very useful in getting you to the church in time! Compiled your wedding guest list, consulting both families. Chosen the best man, ushers, bridesmaids and pageboys? Start looking for the wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses. If you plan to have them made book a designer at least four months ahead of the wedding. Arrange the hire of any formal wear for the groom,
best man, ushers and the fathers. Choose your presents for the best man, ushers, bridesmaids and mothers. Booked and confirmed the reception venue and caterers? Investigate and arrange the entertainment for the reception. A dv i s e c at e r e r s o r receptions of the final guest numbers in writing two weeks before the wedding. Order your wedding cake and check with the reception venue if you will need to supply a cake stand and knife. Booked and confirmed the honeymoon plans? Finalise your honeymoon plans and check for any visas or vaccinations that may be necessary. If the bride plans to change her name, have the passport name changed now so they are the same as the travel documents. This is easy enough to and forms can be obtained from the Post Office. Pack your tickets, local c u r r e n c y, t r av e l l e r s cheques and passports. Then send the case for your honeymoon to your overnight hotel so you don't need to worry about it. Considered taking out wedding insurance? Not just incase one of you is left stranded at the aisle, but because a family emergency, illness or even a natural disaster could leave you with a delayed wedding and a stack of bills to pay for. Wedding insurance also covers other, more minor disastrous eventualities like your dog eating your wedding dress and the best man losing the rings. Ordered your wedding stationary such as invitations (day and evening), orders of service and place cards? Send out your wedding invitations at least six weeks before the wedding. Place your wedding list with the stores of your choice and have it ready for people who ask for it.
