The Essential Preseason Checklist for Football
Check off these preseason tasks so your team is ready to dominate. Visit hudl.com/support to see specific tutorials on every feature of Hudl.
Add your schedule. Add the 2018-2019 season to your schedule page. Set it as the current season.
Update your coaches and athletes. Add all new team members. Remove anyone who’s no longer on the team. Create groups to make it easier to share and message.
Clean up last season’s video. Use the Manage Storage page to see your current storage space and delete anything you don’t need. (Remember—game footage doesn’t impact your storage.) Use the deleted videos list to restore anything accidentally removed in the last 90 days. Move any games you need from last season to prepare for this year’s opponents.
Update your team profile. Update the profile picture, cover photo, biography and team colors. Create a team highlight from last season’s video.
Pay your bill. Check your Billing & Invoices page to see due dates and pay by credit card.
Edit values on the Breakdown Data page. Create new columns for the season. Make sure old custom columns are updated and ready to be used. Remove or merge any duplicate breakdown data values (e.g., Pro RT and Pro R).
Get your playbook in working order before season. Organize past cards and installs, and delete or update anything that needs it.
Do a full trial run before your first game. Test Sideline at your stadium in a game-like situation, with loudspeaker announcements, headset frequencies and movement on the field for you to record. Recruit your Sideline volunteers and give them a chance to practice with the setup.
Grab all your accessories. Have extra HDMI cables on hand. Be ready with tarps or any other weatherproofing gear you need in case of bad weather.
Get your iPads and iPhones ready. Plan what devices you’ll use based off our list of supported devices. The older the device, the less compatible it is with Sideline. Make sure you’re using the most recent iOS and Sideline app versions available. Check before the season and before each game. Clear out space for Sideline video on your devices.
Plan the best locations to record from. Find where your camera captures the majority of the field so Assist analysts can see yard lines, referee signals and player movement.
Assign a coach to name offensive formations. Our analysts will identify the formation used in each play. Once you name a specific formation, that terminology will be automatically used in future breakdowns.
