SPRING 2015

<LOGO> <PHONE> <WEBSITE>

My Word by <NAME> Hi Friends, Are you a “springtime” kind of person? It’s not surprising if you are. With the sense of renewal that’s in the air, this is a favorite season for lots of folks. Not only does the landscape start waking up, but some of the rest of us do too as we enjoy a little extra time outdoors. What’s happening indoors is important too. Over time, seasonal changes can cause stress on your plumbing, and your plumbing system could be due for a check or upgrade. On a serious note, just a small leak can

— Hot News Now — Plumbing Checks for Spring

Did cold temps cause problems

for your plumbing? Now that the seasons are sending thermometers in different directions, this is a good time to look around your home for undetected money drains caused by untended leaks and drips. Your personal plumbing inspection should include: Sinks – Find dripping faucets? Get them repaired to save money. Also, add strainers over drains to prevent clogs from hair, soap and other debris. Toilets – If the handle has to be jiggled to stop water from running, or held down to complete flushing, it’s time to replace worn parts. Test for hidden leaks by adding drops of food coloring to the toilet tank. If color appears in the bowl within 30 minutes, you’ve got a leak.

Water Heater – Check temperature settings (it shouldn’t be higher than 120 degrees to prevent scalding and to save on energy use). Also, consider replacing water heaters that are over 15 years old. Hoses and Pipes – Check pipes for leaks under sinks or in basements. Inspect hoses to dishwashers, washing machines and icemakers. If you see bulges or leaks get them replaced. Outdoors – Clear debris from yard drains, gutters and downspouts, and test faucets and hose bibs for free-flowing water. If you have a dripping faucet, or if there are signs of leakage indoors when the hose is turned on, you could have a cracked pipe. See any problems; concerns? Call us for repairs. Want us to conduct a professional plumbing inspection? Just let us know.

Plumbing Vision

Sometimes, it takes an up-

close look to know the extent of a plumbing problem. Yet, this up-close look could be behind PVC, lead or copper pipes that, regrettably, are not see-through. Further, these pipes may be located under layers of sheetrock, cement, dirt or all of the above. And continuing concerns about the cause could prevent you from quickly detecting a solution. Fortunately, there’s an easy answer. Thanks to video technology, plumbers have a trick up their sleeve that can show you just what you need to know. Through a pipeline video inspection, plumbing professionals can explore a vast expanse of pipeline on your property without digging up the yard or tearing out walls, ceilings or floors. Instead, they’ve got a video view of clogs, breaks and roots, as well as valuable or sentimental objects that you may have dropped down the drain or flushed away.

2

With the video inspection, a camera that displays images on a monitor can be directed through the pipes on an attached device, or pulled along by a cable attached to a winch. It can also show you the result of flushing lines or repairs, allowing you to see and believe,

rather than just taking someone’s word for it. Once we see what’s in your pipes, we can create a plan for cleaning, repairing and retrieval. If digging is needed, the video inspection limits the disruption to only the affected area. Call us when you have a plumbing issue – it’s our job to keep you comfortable and your plumbing system running efficiently.

If you give your home a

facelift this spring, you’ll do more than spruce up the view for passers-by. You can get a bigger response from potential buyers. That’s because improving curb appeal improves property value.

Is your bathwater clear as mud? If your water isn’t properly filtered, you may have a mud bath in your very own home. Or at least, plenty of sediment in your water. The buildup in your water can affect taste and cleaning power. So call <COMPANY> at <PHONE> for a water inspection and filtration options.

Home Generators Are a Hot Commodity

Home generators provide a

reliable source of energy when the power goes out, but how do you know which home generator is right for you? These things may narrow the field considerably:

1. Determine your emergency energy needs. Most homeowners are concerned about powering basic creature comforts and medical equipment. An eightkilowatt generator can typically handle this load. 2. Select an available, affordable fuel. Natural gas and propane tend to be the most economical.

• Good points vs. bad points. Consider which features of your home that you like best. Can you enhance them? Then take account of the features you like least. Can you improve them? • Repair and maintenance needs. If you’ve been ignoring damage, it hasn’t gone away – in fact, it may be catching someone else’s attention. Stay on top of repairs. • Clutter and debris. Here’s an easy one. Remove trash and other items from your walkways and driveway, or clutter in your yard. • Landscaping. Trim shrubbery, add fresh mulch and bedding around plants and keep the lawn mowed and free of weeds. Re-seed for a lush lawn and use quality, weed-free grass seed to fill in bare spots. And don’t forget: water your lawn regularly.
