Welcome to Summer at Hudson Montessori School! We are excited to have you join us for our 2016 summer offerings. In our “Explore Your Interests” camps you can pick the individual sessions to express and develop your interests and in our “Create Your Day” program you can design your daily or weekly schedule. All of the programs offer fun and interesting activities and are open to children between the ages of 3 to 12. This is a time for children to explore, create and discover; a time for them to make new friends and to reconnect with old ones; and a time for laughter, singing and playing. On the following pages you will find information regarding our summer offerings including Archery, Photography, Fashion Fun and Chamber Festival to name a few! All of our programs are staffed by talented and dedicated camp counselors, most of whom are HMS faculty, staff and alumni. Once again this summer, we are excited to partner with the Great Lakes Science Center. The GLSC will be sending their talented, experienced staff to lead the science camps! Their knowledge and professional abilities make science, technology and engineering come alive and generate a lot of fun! Boys and girls will participate through hands-on projects and scientific discovery. We encourage you to visit our website at www.hudsonmontessori.org for more information about Hudson Montessori School, our beautiful 12 acre campus and our philosophy of educating the child to his or her fullest potential. UPCYCLING—THE LATEST CRAZE Where do rugs come from? Make your own and find out! It is a lot more fun to make a rug than to buy one. We all like to recycle and stay green, and this camp will take your recycling one step further with a new trend called UPCYCLING! You will join instructor and artist Pam Smith, and set up a little workshop and have lots of fun deconstructing T-shirts. Then you will reconstruct them into rectangles and sew them together into long strips mixing the colors into wonderful patterns. Next, you will assemble them onto a backing to complete the rug. The backing is a great place to use your favorite logo from that t-shirt that you outgrew. This creative camp will help develop many skills for both girls and boys. The morning will begin with a skill lesson for practice and then on to building the rug. Sequencing, organizing, sewing, hand/eye coordination, patterns, cutting with scissors, assembling and measuring are some of the skills you will perfect. Most of the materials utilized will be natural fibers such as cotton. Each camper will need at least 5 T-shirts to make one rug, but since you can’t have too many bring a few extra on the first day of camp. Campers will be using a sewing machine with instructor guidance for the final assembly. Ages: Week: Time: Class size: Cost:

Registration Instructions Each camp is priced individually and scheduled as listed in the brochure. Online registration allows parents to manage their campers enrollment in a quick, secure and easy format. To register for either program go to www.hudsonmontessori.org. Enrollment by hand requires that a registration form be completed and returned to the HMS office by mail, e-mail, fax or in person. A form can be printed online or requested by phone. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Because most camps have limited enrollment, early registration is encouraged. All programs are subject to a minimum enrollment. In the event that a class is full or is cancelled, parents will be notified as soon as possible. A deposit of 1/2 of the total camp fee is due at the time of registration. Once processed, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from HMS, so please be sure to include an e-mail address on the enrollment form. You will be invoiced for the remaining balance. Final payment will be due by June 1 2016. Alternate payment arrangements can be made by contacting camp@hudsonmontessori.org

Lunch and Snack Time Campers are to bring a healthy and nutritious lunch and beverage and a snack for mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

On Arrival All campers and parents should use the southwest entrance of the building and check in with the Camp Staff each day. Signs will be posted to help direct campers to their destination. GLSC counselors will be on hand to check in campers for GLSC camps.

At Dismissal Each camper must be signed out by a parent or an adult listed as approved for pick up. If the Camp Counselor is not familiar with the person picking up the camper, they may be asked to provide a photo ID before the child is released.

Refund Policy A refund must be requested in writing prior to May 20th. There will be a $25 non-refundable processing fee for each cancellation. If HMS cancels a class, a full refund will be given. No refunds or reduction in fees will be given for a child who arrives late, leaves early or attends only part of a session.
