Renata González Photography Andrés Reina A
… With Andrés Reina A Renata González
is a warrior girl with goals, dreams and hopes, who has had a lifetime of experiences and joy. Since she was very young, she knew that she wanted to be someone in life and she succeeded; she was model for the international magazine Playboy. She conquered millions of viewers with her beautiful kind of being a reality and established as one of the most special actresses in Colombian television. Currently we see her in "Mentiras Perfectas” (Perfect Lies) at Caracol TV. Her career doesn’t stop; she will reappear with her sportswear brand, continuing to conquer the international catwalks and with the acting.
Andrés Reina - Tell us something about your life! Renata González - I was born in Chaparral,
Tolima. I am very dedicated to my work and I love to be cast in everything I want, the proof is my line of sportswear "rg". I have always wanted to have my own company, initially I thought it could be lingerie, but I’m a sportsman, so I thought why not better having a sports line. It was very difficult for me to find sports clothes that I like and so my own brand was born. It is a new company but the people have already begun to relate it to me. The brand "rg" Renata Gonzalez, already has begun selling in Los Angeles, Mexico, Las Vegas and Miami, we grow little by little!
A.R
- When did your career as a model start?
R.G. Before
finishing my studies, I was proposed to take part to the national reign of beauty as Miss Tolima. I didn’t reach the final, so I started doing fashion shows and publicity photos and all this led me to become the only Playmate of Colombia in 2002 and the only Miss Playboy Latin America and Iberia in 2003, a title that opened the doors for the rest of my career.
I was in Miami and started as host of the program "Cine para las estrellas - Cinema for the stars" at channel Telefutura, hence I came to the Latin Music program of the htv channel; an amazing experience besides of learning how to prepare anything in the world of art.
A.R How did you come from modeling to television?
R. G. All that came because I returned from Miami and started talking about my work as a host. I made workshops in body expression as director Herney Luna saw me in an interview and proposed me to act a part in the novel "Pura Sangre". I received it with astonishment because I never thought of being an actress. I prepared myself for the casting in the same way and got the role and from that time on I completely fell in love with acting. Actually I thought that I wasn’t suitable for that, but now I’m here am and I love what I do!
A. R. Which of your roles in television has made the most remembrance among the public?
R. G. Marcela Carranza in "Pura Sangre" since it was the start of my career and I learned much in this role, after "Pura Sangre" I had individual roles like "Mujeres al Límite, Tu Voz Stereo, Historias Clasificadas and international series A Corazón Abierto". Recently I played a strong, short but interesting character in the series "Corazones Blindados", very well done!
A.R. We know you've done theater, we saw you in “Infraganti”; have you thought to go back to the boards?
R. G. I love doing theater; having directly contact with the public is
the best reward and I just hope to get a new opportunity to be back on the boards. The theater is also another passion that I have in my life, there is so much love in between and I have to be the best. I participated in the following plays: 2011 "Casting" (Eulalia) 2010 "Omaira" 2009 "Infraganti" (Stephanie) Colombia – USA
A.R. What do you do in your spare time? R. G. I love reading, watching TV, going to movies, spending time
with my family and friends and doing sport. In fact talking about sport, my sister is coach and I train a lot together with her. I try to eat well but I don’t do diets, I try to lower my carbs and do much cardio, and when I feel that I have a little more of kilos I go to a well-known beautician here in Bogotá who is responsible for rectifying my silhouette (smiles).
A. R. What are you doing at
Christmas and New Year’s Eve?
R. G. Those dates are 100%
dedicated to my family at a beautiful place, we share a lot during the year, although I count on their love and presence for recordings, pageants, editorial or travel is a bit complicated the issue of the meetings. My family and my children (my cats) are my engine and my happiness.
A.R. Let’s talking about "your
children": who are Tato and Michicha?
R. G. Well, Tato is a three-
year albino Persian, and Michicha is a cat cross between Siamese and Persian. Tato came into my life when I was single, I got him from a friend who was allergic to cats and who was looking for a home for him. Michicha was a special present and at the beginning he was jealous of Tato and didn’t come close to me, but now both love each other and are inseparable. Tato is playful and for Michicha I cannot see a role because he likes jumping.
A.R. Characterize Renata Gonzalez
R. G. I am a happy woman, I try
to get not stressed, I like to prepare me; I’m loyal, very feisty, and all that for being grateful to God and to life.
A.R. A special message to the
readers of this great and special magazine LATIN AMERICAN MODEL

ANDRES SOLER Model, bodybuilder and personal trainer
Photography AndrĂŠs Reina A
… With Andrés Reina A Andrés Soler is not only a model in his city Bogotá. During his young age he evolved into a high-level athlete in bodybuilding competitions, and he is coaching young talents in the sport. We made a short but pleasant interview where he reveals some secrets of his exciting life, his discipline, his body which is envied by many people and admired by others.
Andrés Reina - Andrés when did you start your athletic career and what was the motivation that attracted your interest for starting to do fitness and gym?
Andrés Soler - At the age of 18, I started with the weight training, the
passion for fitness and sport, where I spent much of my time in training my body. Later, when I recognized great changes in me, bodybuilding became a passion to me, since I felt a great admiration for certain athletes who were exhibiting spectacular bodies, because of the sacrifice, the discipline and the power of volition which is required to possess a body of this magnitude which was not easy. At the age of 20, I began my career as a personal trainer with the intention of learning more thoroughly about the subject of exercise and nutrition and power, and so to train and to orientate to people who needed and wanted to do.
A.R. How did evolve your facet as a bodybuilder and what motivates you to be so?
A.S. It motivates me that I have great knowledge, attitude and practice. I decided to prepare myself for bodybuilding competitions because I have understood the sacrifices for those who had to spend, and after a hard preparation and discipline, I presented my first championship in Bogota in 2009.
A.R. How did you contest the
championship? And what came then?
A. S. In the interleague tournament I
was fourth and I felt very proud as it was the first time I stepped on a stage with so little experience. 2010 was my second interleague championship, where I reached the 3rd place and got the bronze medal. In 2013, I returned after a long and hard preparing for the gold novice championship in Bogota, where I reached the silver medal with the second place. Three months later in the same year I competed in the Copa Armando Villa 2013 and became champion in my youth level up to 70 kilos. From the first day I decided to compete today.
A.R. After all these triumphs, how did
your life change?
A. S. My life as a bodybuilder athlete
has become to a lifestyle, the satisfaction to surpass myself, the generated feelings when I’m preparing for a competition and the moment when you are standing on the stage, having the opportunity to present your work and discipline in front of a public for getting a medal or a trophy is what becomes a daily motivation and makes me getting stronger physically, mentally and spiritually. This is the motivation and this is why I love what I do because the vast majority of people do not know the sacrifices that hide this beautiful and healthy sport.
A.R. What are you currently
doing outside of bodybuilding?
A. S. I am currently working as
a fitness trainer, as an event model, model for photography and catalogs. I'm finishing my career in physical education and sport in the Minuto de Dios University and I'm training and preparing hard for national and international competitions which are coming soon.

Gusi, composer and musician by profession, took his first steps in music since childhood and continued to show artistic inclination throughout his teenage, participating in different bands of which was part in the Colegio Andino de Bogota. Later he studied music at the Javeriana University and advanced independently workshops of classical guitar, and he was singing with important Maestros of the music. In his career he had the opportunity to record independently and to belong to different groups. He stated his professional career as vocalist and percussionist with the band La Cosmica Charanga, a group of the Javeriana University; continued as vocalist and percussionist with Zona de Tambora (founded by Ernesto "El Teto" Ocampo, Guillermo Vives and Gilbert Martinez); as singer with La Banda de El Sitio de Santiago Cruz; and as guitarist and chorister with Fanny Lu. Today, Gusi has an alternate career as a composer. He has written songs for all albums of Gusi & Beto and also for other artists like Luis Enrique on his latest album "Soy y seré" (Al fin), and Fonseca in his latest album "Ilusión" (Baila esta última), among others.
Starting from 28 of October, and after seven successful years of musical career, Andrés Acosta - Gusi, commences his career as a soloist and presents the public his new single "A buscar tu amor", an unpublished song composed by renowned Cuban singer Alex Cuba. "I
am very excited to start my career as a soloist with a wonderful song, which allows me to make novel fusions with instruments like the Hawaiian Ukulele and to maintain the essence of my style of Pop Vallenato. I'm sure you will love it "said Gusi - Andrés Acosta.
"Today it is very important to generate new contents which complement the experience that the audience has with the song, to make it much more exciting. For this reason I decided to release the song along with a very entertaining lyric video" said Gusi - Andrés Acosta. "A buscar tu amor" is the first single from the upcoming musical production of Gusi - Andrés Acosta, which will be released in the first half of 2014, and which will have the support of major international artists.
"I always wanted to start my career as a soloist with my own composition, but ‘A buscar tu amor’ came at the right time, and without hesitation, I decided to record it. Since Alex Cuba shared this song with me, it couldn’t get out of my head and I repeatedly sang that song“ added Gusi - Andrés Acosta. The song was produced by the Venezuelan Yasmil Marrufo, in the studios of Iker Gastaminsa in Miami and mastered by Mike Couzzi.
About Gusi - Andrés Acosta Gusi, professional composer and musician, was born in Puerto de la Cruz, Venezuela, on 22 of April 1984, but from an early age his family moved to Bogotá where he lives since that time. Paola Sánchez
Ángela Paola Sánchez García was born on March 29, 1994 and now lives in Bogotá. At the age of three, she began with her studies and she stuck up with always being a very diligent and outgoing pupil. She was the only spoiled girl in her family, belonged to one of the best students, receiving commendations and medals and she was a very good athlete. Ángela started modeling since her childhood, when her father contacted agencies and made pictures from her as a very young. The work was not as constant, because at that time the important thing for her and her family was to study. She took piano lessons when she was 8 years old; she always paid attention to the music; that’s why she was linked to the school choir, with a special pleasure for the artistical.
She finished her secondary education in the District School La Merced. It was a difficult time because she had to adapt to many changes and she was entering the teenage. At this time, several people were very present in her life; she was devoted to the sports like volleyball, and she met a very special person who became her great support.
When she was in the ninth grade, she began to study her professional career, and with the help of her parents, she established ties with institutes, so that she could ratify the seen materials when starting at the university. Her father always wanted her to study administration. Her days were exhausting; in the morning she had to study bookkeeping, finances, human talent and others, and in the afternoon she was devoted to school. Ă ngela resumed modeling at the age of fifteen, presenting herself at a casting for a channel which is making ads for chocolate. This was her first work, which complemented her studies.
She worked at Ecopetrol where she experienced a new facet of her life, which had good days and days where she was frustrated. She hadn’t enough time for modeling, but she still made a few photo sessions and so she gradually learned more about this medium.
After finishing her job at Ecopetrol, she decided to turn her life. At the age of 18, she looked for new horizons and contacted a manager of an agency in Bogotá. She began modeling at catwalks, working with major brands such as Aguardiente Antioqueño, Marlboro, Cy Zone, Ron Medellin, Esencial Jeans among many others. "Each time when I was walking at the catwalk, I felt the need to give all of me, as you are the image and you are the one who is wearing it", and although it’s not easy always to link, she had persistence as long as all her achievements were rewarded when they began to recognize her. One of her first successes was to appear at television, in newspapers, magazines and radio interviews as Olimpica, Play Radio, and Tropicana. This was what Angela helped to realize what she loved what she made.

I want to be a TV presenter; in my spare time I do sport, practice artistic roller skating, and share with my family and my beautiful dog DRACO." "I am a single woman, full of life projects."
Mickey Taveras
Mickey Taveras is a Dominican , artist of great renown, born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on 29 of September, musically recognized in the salsa genre. The son of Raul Almanzar and Modesta Taveras attended the primary school AndrĂŠs Bello in Moca. These studies helped him later to perform his own musical arrangements and to realize his compositions. He stood out as a soloist and he interpreted the songs of the great artist Pedrito Fernandez who was his idol as a singer since his childhood and today he still admires him.
At the age of 12, he formed a band that played Spanish Rock, Vieja Ola and Ballards. The band was called Los PĂcaros de Moca and had as members other infantile talents of the city of Moca. When he was 14, he formed his first band called Variedades Musicales, which also played merengue music. At the age of 15, he was part of a band which played Jazz, Bossa Nova, Blues and Classic Ballads in English. Taveras learned much personally and musically from Mr. Freddy Tejada, a great Dominican musician, Maestro of saxophone, flute and piccolo. This group was rooted in Puerto Plata, the beautiful city at the atlantic coast.
Mickey Taveras is inclined to the merengue music inspired by all the Dominicans artists who stood out in this genre since the 70s. He always prefered Wilfrido Vargas who later would serve as a springboard to international fame. He also knew that Joselito Mateo, Jhonny Ventura, Felix del Rosario, Fernando Villalona, Juan Luis Guerra, Ramon Orlando, Cuco Valoy, Dionis Fernández, Sergio Vargas and Luis Ovalle were also part of his inspiration for being an artist of the merengue music. Later he joined the orchestra of Luis Ovalle, Yerry Vargas, Peter Cruz, Ruby Perez and the orchestra of Wilfrido Vargas in both musician and singer, and in the orchestra of Wilfrido Vargas also as singer and musical producer. With Wilfrido Vargas, he stood out as singer of songs like Atrevida, 13 Años, Bachata Merengue and more. These 3 songs consecutively won the Award El Casandra as Merengue of the year with the voice of Mickey Taveras. After a 5year contract he leaved the Wilfrido Vargas Orchestra and decided to realize his own musical project and parallelly to compose for other artists. La Ventanita, first performed by the great artist Sergio Vargas, was a demonstration of the capacity of Mickey Taveras as author, as it has been recorded by 58 different artists in different versions, for example by the Mexican group Garibaldi, the band Sombras from Argentina and Daniel Angostini, among others. The Colombian singer Charlie Zaa interpreted 4 songs of Mickey Taveras in his production Ciego de amor, wich was produced by Mr. Emilio Estefan and José Antonio Molina. The company Karen Records contracted Mickey Taveras as exclusive artist and composer of his record label; and starting with that label, he remained for 10 years recording productions like "Lucharé, Más romántico and Sigo siendo romántico". The first production "Lucharé" was a worldwide sale success, mainly in Central and South America and the United States. Reaching from gold to quintuple platinum on his sales in Colombia rising to 500,000 copies; including on this production is the song "Me gustas" with which Taveras won the prize for the best performer in the festival Viñas del Mar in 1996.
On this occasion he took the Silver Gull, being the only Dominican in the history of this festival who has won the award as the best performer. The second production of Mickey Taveras, "Más Romántico" also had a great acceptance thanks to the success of the song "Historia entre tus dedos", a song that dominated in the line of Tropical Song of the Year in this great award called "Premios Lo Nuestro". He was sharing this nomination with Gilberto Santa Rosa and Olga Tañon.
Although his third album "Sigo Siendo Romántico, Éxito de la bachata" didn’t receive a great promotion, it was nominated for the Latin Grammy for Best Album in the line of contemporary music. Currently he launches the first production under his own record label called MT Productions Corp. The production is called "Te Esperaré", which contains Salsa, Bachata and Merengue music under the musical production and direction of that same executive producer Mickey Taveras. And his latest producion is called Pasado y Presente, where you can find his successes in a version of Balada Pop and Pop.

Healthy Cooking with our Chef
Jorge Enrique MartĂnez I have a surprise for you and I hope you like it. My section is: Healthy Cooking, from this issue on, we can count on the participation of several chefs of different nationalities, who contribute their recipes and advices. Let's start with a very healthy advice; I will speak to you about the Day Off. As I have said on other occasions, it is very important that we are lovers of food before we will enjoy it; but always recall that we are beginning to know the nutritional content and the method of the preparation thereof. With the help of the professionals, we will be able to creating our own diet, already knowing that it is very easy to reach that the alimentation could be very amusing and not this torture that many will run. The Day Off is a very easy concept, but it shall keep in mind that this is not a game to do it without any precautions.
The Day Off is a day where we can moderately replace our diet and eat that little meal that is a sin and what we all love; my advice is to do it only once a month (I remind you: in moderation). The healthy and wholesome meal is the energy that our body needs, as well as the plants need the nature, all that is what I manage. Food is our friend that makes us look beautiful, we are moving; we are smiling anyway, which helps us to live.
Learning to count calories When we learn to count calories, learn not to consume a lot of the ingredients that harm us, which makes that we save the calories, water or which ruins our internal organs; when we know about the food that it is our ally and our physical assure, then we will be happier and live healthier each day. Another of my contributions is a very easy one. When you read the product labels, you will find that some manufacturers say they are "healthy", but careful! The labels help us to find out if this food contains too much salt, sugar, which is harmful for our body and that usually happens in salad dressings. Much of it is used to provide the flavor and contain high amounts of elements, and when not, they have many calories that make that we keep plenty of fluids and therefore we never feel that our efforts are yielding fruits.
Something very important; when you’re insisting to follow your program, you should organize it with your health professional, you should be persistent and don’t think that this chubby which has come since so many years next to you, will lower overnight. And if that really happens, this will be due to a mysterious way of a certain diet or because of any advice of a miracle product. Be very careful, there is a popular saying "From the good don’t give much" and if this experience is so fabulous, tell it to me and we will check it with nutritionists, medical specialists in physical culture and people who are experts in this item, to see if such wonder is true and will clear your doubts. Remember that health is too much important to invent diets overnight. Don’t allow your mind to play such bad tricks that can even cause damage on your health, and some may possibly even become irreversible or cause terrible problems that we don’t want. It is easy, remember to look in the mirror to see how beautiful is the creation and the great work it did on you, but aware your subconscious is sometimes not the best advisor. Already in our next issue we will begin to talk about food and its features to take advantage and we will start to organize spectacular menus and an adequate diet and not to forget the little secrets.
From today we will have our group of chefs with advices:

In Harmony with the Nature "The air that we breathe" By : Edith Pineda There is a very important element that the human being is exchanging in its environment, it is oxygen. Thanks to the oxygen, the body can burn the substances we consume and change it into energy, which allows you to develop the muscles and which gives you the strength to do different jobs. Breathing is part of being alive, so much that we can leave days without drinking or weeks without food, but not more than a few minutes without breathing. By default we know that we have to breathe to live, but in what way are we aware of your breath? In modern cities will increasingly become more difficult to breathe undefiled air, in the buildings we find homes where the air inside is as well polluted as outside.
This is due to the lack of negative ions in the air (tiny energy loaded particles), which can result in headaches, irritability, depression, insomnia and allergic disorders such as rhinitis and catarrh. The most common causes of the positive ionization of the air in the homes and workplaces are synthetic fibers, dust, air conditioning, the smoke of cigarettes, television, computer screens and others.
Forever keep in mind: a source of negative ionization is moving water, seas, waterfalls, rivers, showers and even the chlorophyll of the plants is a major source of negative ions. Compared to the mountains, which have 100% of the fresh air, there are about 7% in the urban area (cities) and only 2% in households, hence the importance of purifying the air in our homes according to the Comparison Chart prepared by the French scientist R. Tocquety.
In the specialized trade there are accessible air humidifiers, water fountains and various appliances that can negatively ionize the air. Many of them are usually used for therapeutic purposes. They have different names: ion generators, air ionizers, ozone generators, environment purifiers, among others.
Benefits: Using water purifiers will bring negative ions into the air of your home which prevents diseases such as allergies. Even today the technology allows to enjoy from an equipment which help to eliminate airborne pathogens, fungi, toxins as those which are produced by cigarette smoke, carbon monoxide, lead, tars, arsenic.
Benefits of an air free of positive ions for the organism: * Significant improvement of the respiratory system against allergies. • General Welfare • Improvement of the physical activity • Visual Activity • Regulation of the blood pressure • Improvement of the life of the cells who are responsible for the rejuvenation • Eliminates anxiety and aggression • Improves the mood
Other Benefits: Balancing the electrostatic charge of the environment (generated by computers, fitted carpets, etc.). Cleaning the environment from impurities. Renewing the air that we breathe. Helping to eliminate odors. Helping to stop the allergies, microorganisms and some chemical components.

This Virgo girl from Barranquilla left her country 11 years ago. First she settled for two years in Miami (Florida), where she finished her last year of psychology at the Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami. Afterwards she took the given opportunity to visit her best friend in New York. She primarily wanted to stay one weekend; effectively she spent a long time in this magical city. Living in New York, she committed herself more and more for the designing; she defined herself as an innate designer... she never studied professionally fashion design, but she has attended in different cities various seminars, fashion shows, courses and Fashion Week. She is very responsible in being updated in issues relating to fashion and design in order to create beautiful lines. Erika applies psychology to empathize with her clients and to please them in their needs ...
"When you wear a garment of mine, for example a swimsuit "I like it when my clients feel comfortable and safe, so I want to make an appointment, to meet them, to talk to them, listen to their needs and what they are expecting of me and my design. I think there is no other garment more difficult to wear like a swimsuit which typifies you and your bikini. This is why I like to be dedicated in my designs and I feel a big responsibility when someone believes in my talent." Erika comments smilingly that she takes psychology as a basis for her life, her daily relationships, her designs and in her daily routine!
Another facet of this Barranquillera is television. She started television about 6 years ago,
"it was a surprise to me, one day a friend of me got a call from a program and they invited her as a psychologist. She didn’t like the cameras and asked me."
With eyes of joy she explained us that at this day everything began.
"It was a wonderful experience as I was in front of the camera. I had undergone a transformation; the lights, to work in television; all this made me grow and feel more fulfilled."
"I studied and I have prepared myself with responsibility and perseverance. I'm in a different time, reinventing, enjoying the workaday life, very focused, love my life and the people who are part of it and this entire cute story.
