Henry is 6 and is a completely different story to his older brother. He is totally mad about the game nothing else matters, he plays for All Stars Academy in Eastbourne and at school, after school outside in our hallway, in his bedroom, even in his sleep I'm sure. He has been crazy since he could walk, if he sees a can in the street or an old dog ball he just starts dribbling or kicking it. A future football star I'm sure. He loves music too and is learning the drums at school, he loves the Pilot Field but like Reuben and his Dad his first love is Liverpool FC he has been to Anfield which is what the boys bedroom looks like, it's a blaze of Red LFC. I'm sure Henry sang ’You'll Never Walk Alone’ in his mummy’s tummy.

CLUB INTERIM STATEMENT WHITSTABLE TOWN INCIDENT The Club are aware of a very unsavoury incident that allegedly took place between an opponent and a supporter of the Club after the final whistle at Whitstable Town last Saturday. Since the alleged incident the Club have been investigating, such investigations taking place before the Club left Whitstable, during last Saturday evening and overnight into last Sunday. The Club made a report to the match referee after the match and asked him to report the alleged incident to the FA which the match referee said he would do, although he was unaware of the alleged incident. The Club itself will also be making a submission to the FA. If any supporter who was either the subject of the alleged incident, or witnessed the alleged incident, and they wish to make a statement on the incident then please forward any statement as soon as possible to Club Secretary Tony Cosens at tony.cosens@hastingsunited.com Dave Nessling Chairman Hastings United FC

WELCOME Good afternoon all. Welcome to the Pilot Field for today’s Bostik League Division One South East match against north Kent based Faversham Town FC. We extend a warm welcome to the officials, players and supporters of our visitors. We hope they have an enjoyable afternoon, and wish them a safe return trip. A similar warm welcome is extended to today’s three match officials, Referee Isaac Searle and his two Assistants, Harry Wager and David Lunani. We return to Pilot Field action this afternoon after three 1-1 draws on the bounce, which has seen in form Ashford United take second spot in the table and we slip down to occupy third one point behind them, although they have a game in hand advantage too! Ashford having won their last six games, scoring 18 goals with five clean sheets to boot! League leaders Cray Wanderers now have a 16point lead over the play-off chasers and are seemingly set to take the title - but strange things happen in football. Horsham and Haywards Heath make up the other two play-off places and both are now right on our heels. It’s therefore most important that we take maximum points from today’s game. Today’s visitors currently sit at 15th position in the league table with 26 points from 24 matches. However, the league position doesn’t truly reflect current form as they are 6th in the form table if taken over the last six matches. To put that into context for this afternoon’s encounter, United are 10th in that table. Indeed last Saturday saw the ‘Lilywhites’ biggest win, a 4-1 home victory over struggling Greenwich Borough. Two goals a piece from experienced Dave Cook and January signing, Liam King from Bostik Prem side Margate, did the job. RAMSGATE REJOICE AS ROWLAND REMAINS! It's a month since Ramsgate signed Folkestone Invicta striker Kane Rowland on loan- and in that period he has played six matches, with three wins, a draw and two defeats as the Rams moved to ninth in the South East Division table. Today he was meant to be heading back to the Fullicks Stadium- but no! The Rams have announced that they have secured his signing- and you can read about that here. Rowland scored eighteen league goals for Sittingbourne last season before being tempted by a move to the Premier Division, but although he made twenty four appearances for Invicta this season, scoring six times, half of those were from the bench. His loan move has been a great success, and he's already been on the scoresheet - and will hope to find the net many times more as his new club make a push for a Play-off place.

HORSHAM HAVE ANNOUNCED THE SIGNING OF WORTHING DEFENDER WILL MILES Miles was an instrumental part of Burgess Hill Town's record-breaking promotion from the South Division in 2014-15 after coming through the club's youth structure - and was an almost ever present as his side went almost eight months unbeaten in the league as well as defeating the likes of Sutton United and Aldershot Town in cup competitions.

HORNETS ANNOUNCE DEPARTURE Horsham have announced that Montserrat international full back Joey Taylor has left the club to join playoff rivals Hythe Town.

Anyone who watched Lewes defender Stacey Freeman toil through the mud against Potters Bar Town last weekend may be surprised to see him turn up on a desert island seven days later - but be surprised no more, as the model, who mixes the catwalk and the changing room, is starring in the E4 reality TV show Shipwrecked. The series was recorded in 2018, and as such hasn't interfered too much with Stacey's football - he's made twenty six appearances for the Rooks this season- or with his modelling career. He's worked recently for Under Armour, Nike, Reebok, and Adidas, and - according to the local newspaper, the Sussex Argus, has also acted as a body double for Tottenham Hostpur's Ben Davies. How will he do in the Cook Islands? He's not telling, and we're nowhere near hip enough to even understand the format of the show - it appears on first glance to be about modelling swimwear and shouting, but there must be more to it than that! We did ask Rooks Chair Stuart Fuller to explain it yesterday, but sadly he was no more 'down with the kids' than the rest of us (please note, we are aware that by using the phrase 'down with the kids' we'd already proved we were anything but).

Taylor hasn't started a match for the Hornets since November, although he has made a number of substitute appearances- the last of those coming in defeat to Phoenix Sports on January 19th. CONSISTENCY Consistency - a successful promotion campaign relies on it. Rather like Cray Wanderers I suppose. Well we have managed to be consistently inconsistent. Poor run duly put right only to go on another poor run with three points from four games. Three successive 1-1 draws where we score first only to get pegged back ....... Getting back on winning ways this afternoon will be appreciated.

SEMI-PRO PYRAMID RESTRUCTURING There appears - not surprisingly - to still be plenty of confusion if not total lack of awareness of what the FA is doing in order to achieve the perfect restructuring of the semi-pro game. Let me run it past you all as best I am able. The chart below shows the structure as it is this season. It is divided into steps starting at Step 1 which is the National League that feeds into the Football League. Yes the Football League. Whence originates the reason for the awful title of Non-League to encompass the hundreds of clubs that play outside the Football League. Anyway. We play at Step 4 here in Bostik SE. Seven divisions in Step 4 that feed into Step 3. And Step 3 has four divisions. This is a temporary structure because, in 2020-21, the FA will add an 8th division to Step 4 in order to create a pyramid like structure. In itself - laudable. But getting there the FA way is frankly farcical. Look at the chart again. 7 divisions cannot feed into 4. As the end of last season approached I cannot have

If you never saw it - then Google it "Banks save 1970" - and admire a true English great. RIP Gordon Banks. been the only one asking "What happens at the end of next season?" when it became clear what the FA was going to be doing last summer. They added another division to Step 3 and another one to Step 4. And what was a straightforward promotion and relegation structure turned into a shambles for 2 years. 12 clubs down and 12 up between steps 3 and 4. The numbers don't tally with the number of divisions. 7 doesn't go into 4. Hence the ludicrous FA decision that two play off winners from step 4 won't go up. Pointsper-game (ppg) will be calculated for the seven play-off winners and those with the lowest two ppg scores will not go up. Absolutely appalling mismanagement. And the latest ppg chart I have - a fortnight old - is duly shown opposite ..... Peter Miller, a Ware Town follower, puts this together. Excellent work.

On the sporting wager front - specifically Rugby Union - there is little to beat taking a crisp 1000 Philippines Pesos note (ÂŁ15) off the most fanatical Rugby Union addict of all - a New Zealander. In this instance my Kiwi mate Mark is seen here relieved of that amount in the excellent Phillies Sports Grill & Bar in Angeles City the day after England's outstanding win in Dublin a fortnight ago. This made up for me having to hand over 1000 pp to him in November after England lost to the All Blacks. Karma! Wish Ronaldo had this facial expression when he popped in to clear up his tax misunderstandings recently. But then a few million in loose change isn't going to bust that bank is it?

FAVERSHAM TOWN FC HISTORY

The club was formed in 1884 and experienced many ups & downs during the early years. The story below takes you from the 1970â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s to one of its most successful periods, which arguably has been the last 5 or 6 years. After a brief flirtation with the Athenian League in the mid seventies, the club returned to the Kent League, winning the Kent Senior Trophy in 1977. The following season they repeated this success and were also crowned Kent League champions, completing a famous "double". The Lilywhites won the Kent League again in 1990, but league form dipped in the 92/93 season and was to stay that way for several seasons. The club managed to reach the final of the Kent League Challenge Cup in 2000, but things were in rapid decline. Matters reached crisis point in 2003 when the KCFA suspended the club for nonpayment of fines, with the club's operators blaming just about everyone for the mess except themselves. In the following months, the once proud Salters Lane ground was systematically wrecked by vandals. Meanwhile, club trustees led by businessman Ray Leader fought a desperate battle to heal a widening rift with the previous regime over the ownership of the club and ground. In a separate development, the Faversham Town Independent Supporters Club had been formed and quickly gained a membership of over 300 paid-up members in the market town. This was despite the fact the club had no team, no manager, and a ground that had been totally wrecked by vandals and now resembled a bomb site. Perhaps the real turning point came when trustees and Independent Supporters Club committee members got together and declared an alliance to get the club back on its feet. An interim club committee was formed, and the long road to recovery was started.

The revival was slow, but things finally started to happen. The ownership dispute was settled and access to the ground obtained. Volunteer workers were confronted with completely smashed and vandalized buildings, and shoulder-height grass on what had been the pitch. A massive clear up operation began, but it was back breaking work. Meanwhile, paperwork was put in order with a new club constitution written and agreed. Kent County FA allowed the club to retain their coveted senior status subject to several conditions. Local authority grants were applied for and secured, sponsorship deals obtained, and the club embarked on a range of fund raising initiatives. Slowly but surely, Salters Lane was returned to its former glory, before the future became even brighter with the erection of brand new floodlights. The revival of club and ground from the jaws of death was nothing short of a miracle - a story that would surely rival the efforts to revive both "The Valley" at Charlton, and Accrington Stanley F.C. The revived club played their first season back in 05/06, competing in the Kent County League and finishing as runners-up. Having passed ground inspections and fulfilled minimum criteria, promotion to the Kent League was confirmed, and Faversham Town had at last "come home". Season 2007/08 saw the arrival of Justin Luchford and Jimmy Strouts taking over the management with Town second bottom of the league. The team sunk to bottom before the pair gradually steered them up to mid-table. Strouts soon left for personal reasons and Luchford, along with Clive Walker, took the Lilywhites to the Kent Senior Trophy final in season 2009/10, beating Greenwich 2-1 to lift the trophy. A week later, they were crowned Kent League Premier Division champions. Towards the end of his first season in the Ryman League, and with Town within touching distance of the play-offs, Luchford resigned. His place was taken by his assistant Ray Turner. Turner took charge of the last seven league games securing eighth spot - the highest position of any Kent team competing at that level.

Another significant milestone was reached in 2010 when the revamped stadium was renamed Shepherd Neame Stadium after a sponsorship deal with the town's famous brewery. Having consolidated their position as a mid-table Ryman South side during the first two years of Turner's reign, Faversham embarked on one of the best seasons in the club's history during the 2012/13 season. The Lilywhites lost just three away league games all campaign on their way to finish third and reach the Ryman South play-off final against all odds. However, at Maidstone United's newlybuilt Gallagher Stadium in front of a 2,226 strong-crowd, Town were unable to pull off one final upset against a side with huge investment and backing. Maidstone cruising to a 3-0 victory to deny Faversham their first taste of Ryman Premier League football. Town spent the majority of the 2013/14 campaign just outside the play-offs, and ultimately had to settle for tenth position in their fourth season in the Ryman South. Off the pitch, Town continued to grow with another significant advance. They came together with nearby Faversham Town Youth & Juniors to form a new youth section, meaning boys were now playing in the famous white and black kit from the age of five. The move also created a route through from youth development into the senior side and enabled the newly-expanded club to achieve FA Charter Standard Community Club rank, marking their rise in status. The Lilywhites took another step forward in February 2014 with the announcement of an ambitious project to redevelop Shepherd Neame Stadium. The plans - broken down into five phases include rebuilding the changing rooms, adding hospitality an function rooms, extra seating in the stands and a new stadium entrance. A coffee shop and retail store will then be added, with meeting rooms and offices also being built to bring in additional revenue. A new 120-seater stand, fitness centre and sports hall will also be built. Fundraising for the project then began. Faversham had a productive 2014/15 season, scoring 111 league goals - more than any other Ryman League side that campaign - and

amassing a record 97 points to finish in third place in the Ryman South for the second time in three seasons. But the club suffered more playoff heartache, as they lost 5-4 on penalties at home to Merstham in their Ryman South Playoff Semi-Final following a goalless draw away. Faversham came fifth at the end of the 2015-16 season, again reaching the play-offs, but after beating Dorking Wanderers 2-1 in the semi-final they lost 3-0 to Worthing in the final, leaving them knocking once more on the door of the Ryman Premier Division. The 2016/17 season was one of transition for the Lilywhites on the pitch, and success off it as they forged ahead with Phase One their ambitious rebuilding programme. A tenth place finish was achieved with a young squad as manager Ray Turner dealt with a number of unexpected player departures, which led to a mid-season wobble. However, in May 2017 MP Helen Whately opened the new changing rooms as the first stage of the stadium redevelopment was finally completed. Another significant advance came when, for the first time, the club were able to field Kent Youth League standard squads at every age group from Under 13s upwards in the 2017/18 campaign, a mark of their growing stature in the region and of their commitment to a successful youth policy. In a further development, the Under 21s also switched to become an Under 23 Development team with the aim of helping young players bridge the gap from the Under 18s to the first team. The progress marked the fruition of a vision set out five years earlier by Ray Turner and Head of Youth, Chris Greenfield, who was promoted to Under 23s Manager. Long serving manager Ray Turner resigned in October of this season and his assistant Clive Walker held the fort for us until 27th. November when Danny Chapman & Phil Miles became joint managers, Clive Walker was then asked to join the Board as Director of Football, a post that he accepted.

JAMIE MAXTED (Defender - Aged 29) In his second spell with the club having spent last season with Canterbury City. RYAN HUCKLE (Defender - Aged 18) Solid defender, good reader of the game currently on loan from Gillingham where he has appeared for the first team this season in the EFL Cup. MATTHEW BOURNE (Defender - Aged 29) Mr Reliable, good consistent defender, has played in over 300 games for the Lilywhites since signing in 2011. DAVID COOK (Defender - Aged 34) Signed in the close season having finished last season with Ashford United, good man motivator spent several seasons with Hythe Town a club that he still holds the record number of appearances. DANNY WALDER (Midfielder - Aged 29) Danny is in his second season with the club, started his career as a youngster at Gillingham & played National League South football for Tonbridge Angels. GEORGE MONGER (Midfielder - Aged 24) Has played more than 200 games for the club since joining from Dartford. Terrific striker of a dead ball and possesses good distribution skills.

BEN CHAPMAN (Midfielder - Aged 20) Ben is in his second loan spell from Gillingham were he has appeared for the first team this season and is on a 24 call back loan.Skilful player with a bright future in the game. LIAM KING (Forward - Aged 21) Re-joined the club this season from Margate having also played for Tonbridge Angels & Hythe Town, a product of the clubs youth system. DONVIEVE JONES (Forward - Aged 19) Recently joined the Lilywhites from East Grinstead Town, played for Ebbsfleet Youth is a winger with tricky footwork and very pacey. PREVIOUS MEETINGS

Faversham Town’s location and chequered history have meant that the clubs have rarely met although we did visit Salters Lane for pre-season matches in 1989, 1990 and 1991: The first meeting on Tuesday, 1st August saw Faversham Town win 2-0, a year later on Tuesday, 31st July the sides played out a goalless draw then on Thursday, 1st August, 1991 when we won 2-0 both goals being penalties scored by Terry White. In season 1993/94 both sides competed in the Kent Midweek League where sides often fielded near first teams for matches; we won our home match 3-1 with goals from Peter Heritage, Paul Tuppenney and Danny Whyman, completing the double with a 1-0 away victory courtesy of a lone David Powell goal. In season 2012/13 we visited Faversham Town for a preseason fixture on the evening of Tuesday, 31st July, 2012 when a small crowd of just 70 saw the home side run out 2-0 winners with goals from Luke Harvey, in the first half, and a sixty-sixth minute goal from former United player Antonio Gonnella.

Under the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985, the following are offences for which a person can be arrested by a police officer: attempting to enter the ground or being inside the ground whilst drunk: being in possession of any intoxicating liquor, or bottle, can or other portable container which could cause damage or personal injury when entering the ground.
