INTRODUCTION

The fundamental qualification of good architecture lies in the capacity to fulfill the basic need for its occupants. With a firm belief that the magnificence of buildings is rather determined by the usage of people than the initial intention of an architect, I ground my interest in socially responsive architecture. A qualified architect may not necessarily possess philosophical background, but must be a circumspective sociologist. We shall embrace social diversity and examine the logic behind issues. I am keen on being a footstone, with the modest aim of becoming a reliable practitioner who concentrates on solving problem through architecture. I am privileged to be selected as one of the four students to conduct my most inspired research in the investigation of industrial heritage, which was launched by municipal government and executed by the planning bureau. The once economic booming factories start to impede urban development due to industrial upgrade. I am fully exposed to the comprehensive research methodology of systematic heritage. The research process has instructed me to cogitate upon social issue and the factors beyond from the perspective of field survey, subsequently formulating my own thoughts on the transformation of society. I focus more on acquiring various methodologies to examine the socially responsiveness of architecture. The dynamic high-rise tower project exemplifies one of the many explorations. The unpleasant cut induced by rail way track ruptures original context and isolate the lives on two disparate sides. In response to the issue, the design aims to strengthen the connectivity. Our approach initiates from observing and categorizing urban activities, to analyzing the level of liveness in the region by applying big data processing. The combination of social study and advanced technique fosters a series of high-rises, which authentically reflects the needs of inhabitants. I also expose myself to constructing actual houses in the competition Solar Dechatlon China 2018. The two-year long preparation period encompasses, design, finance, sponsorship and on-site construction. It is a great opportunity to team up with students from fields of civil, electrical engineering and etc. Not only do I acquire sufficient knowledge about energy efficient architecture, but also involve in the whole process of how to gather different people to complete a functional piece. More importantly, the encounter of many difficult times firms my stand to devote myself as a footstone in solving practical problems.

As a visitor center for the entrance to the scenic spot, it is not only necessary to satisfy its basic function as a visitor center, but also to be attached as an advertising property of the landmark building. I hope that he will become the starting point of many scenic spots in the scenic spot and become another highlight of the scenic spot. So in this excellent base of natural environment, I chose a very modern design approach to achieve this. The building itself has a sharp geometric shape; the material chosen is a natural stone, but the color used is gray-white that jumps out of the environment; the layout and flow lines of the interior space are controlled by a dual system.

Inner Space A tourist information center needs special functions. For tourist-site employees, It is a working space which needs to keep its efficiency, which means, when we are designing the inner space of the tourist information center, we need keep employees’ walking lines smooth and compact; For tourists, This is where they receive various services, which requires diverse functions such as inquiry desk, checkroom, emergency services, mother’s room, restroom, and tourist-site displays. In addition, as the landmark of the tourist site, the tourist information center is a highlight itself because of its unique form, huge space combined with vertical transportation, and rational organization of walking lines.

The Methodology of Folding

Through folding, we made a reverse of the IN and OUT in the upper air. In order to leave more space on the ground for parking and camping, the base of the building should be diminished. And to keep the volume, we expand the upper part.

Storeys and the Shell

An exploded view of our project shows the connection of the inner space as well as the the construction of its shell. We hold the view that through out the manipulation of folding, the horizontal and the vertical space of this ground was renewed and given a unused identity. And under the technology of today, these could be easily achieved. This nexus give a new way of unity to the effectiveness, function, shelter, structure and esthetics.

Perspective View

Perspective from Southwest and Northwest The pictures below shows two directions of the entering. And from both side we can see the building rising straight out of the ground. When you are walking toward it, you are gradually getting inside of the building, from this aspect, the boundary of the outer space and inner space was blurred. A raised hillock connected the base of the building and the original ground which increased the variety of the outer space and provided a place to lie down on the lawns so that people could have more interaction with the sunlight. Therefore, more possibilities of activities were allowed and people were encouraged to discover the behaviors with surroundings, all the details are aiming at activating the original space.

Narrative sequence analysis The scenes above are the typical events happened in a regular day of the tourist center, based on the needs of tourists according to the research of the local bureau. And following could be the story of this building as the narrator itself: Before dawn, people came out of their tents and get ready to the trip of enjoying the particularly beautiful scene of the sunrise. I could also join them by my over reached body which is little higher than the forest, of where they could also choose to enjoy the first beam of light — inside my body. Soon after I can smell the aroma of fresh coffee mixed with the moist of the morning mist, of course, if it was in the winter, it will be filling my body. Then the tranquil come back again for a while. Until they come back at noon for a short lunch, kids’ laughter fly through each side of all the walls, they run, they jump, rolling on the grass and napping on the sofa. And then, they each choose the other path opposite to the one they did in the morning. In the lazy afternoon, some choose to read books sitting beneath the flattered window and photographers stood with their cameras gazed at the forests, waiting for the darkness fell. As some people left, some people come, tents spread on the ground again.

THE NET Super High-rise Building with Combination Traffic system Competition Project Date of Project: Aug. 2018-Sep. 2018 Site: Chengdu, China Instructor: Lu Yun Team: Gao Hui , Yu Qian

Along with the continuous growth of city, the train station which located at the edge of the city originally, became part of urban central districts. Goods transportation has gathered around here because of cheap railway transportation. Which also led to the result of factories constructed around the station with a low floor area ration. Although urban residents pass the site frequently, few would stay here. So the problem is that the train station has an enormous scale with an inactive surrounding area. If we do not optimize this area, it is going to be like a wound on the surface of the developing city. And this wound can also be a road that is too wide, or a street block which is inactive, etc. That is why we brought up the concept of “net”, Take the Chengdu south train station as an example, we will use our needle to sew the ”wound”

The growth of urban area Chengdu has developed rapidly in the past 40 years. 40 years ago, Chengdu was a small city with only 22 square kilometers, and its connection with other cities in the surrounding area was weak. With the development of the economy, the urban area of Chengdu and the cities around him began to expand gradually, and the links were established through traffic. As the economy develops further, the border between cities begins to weaken. Chengdu has gradually begun to govern more prefecture-level cities, and large-Chengdu has taken shape.

The venue is in the area around the South Railway Station in Chengdu. Due to the development of the city, the railway station gradually changed from the edge of the original city to the urban area.

We collected out data and turn it into a 3D graphic. We concluded that, if the spots are closer to each other during 4 time section in a whole day, which means the attraction spots are more integrated; if the spots’ vertical positions are higher, which means the population is more focused and more active.

We have analyzed the existing population concentration areas in the area by big-data and the algorithms. The results are shown in the figure. The city on both sides of the train station and the viaducts have low activity on both sides, and the railway station and the viaduct have their own strong traffic attributes, which make them have a higher urban participation. In turn, the train station itself and the vitality of the surrounding city area were determined, which provided us with strong data support for sewing the city and provided a sketch for us to form a stitching plan.which makes them have a higher urban participation.

Traffic networks at different times have to meet different people's needs, so different types of transportation systems are derived from optimizing exhaustive connections at different times.

Central control room

The project provides a variety of effective connections for urban areas, stitching cities that have been orbited by urban development. Originally located at the edge of the city, the railway station has a complicated flowrate of people and a single mode of transportation. With the development of the city, the railway station has become a city transportation hub and has become a gap between the north and south sides of the city.

Welcome back to the original word. One tree shakes another, one cloud pushes another, one soul awakens another.Freedom to creat, life to rouse. Here, design is back to the human scale. The beauty of the architectuure is like the surging waves, which has beautiful appearancce with simple lines, good design concept to merge into surroundings and nature and also the beauty of local materials. Lighting in the bookstore is basically indirect lights with warm colors.Furniture and soft furnishings are textured but can make people feel relaxing. Main material of inner space is cedar wood which is to make a new connection between natural materials and local area. We hope people could have the feeling of familiarity when getting close to this building, because people will instinctively feel comfortable when seeing such natural material which spreads some smell to make people feel calm and peaceful. In this building, mountains and rocks are equivlent to human beings and objects. By this building, we hope to awaken people's original sense of reality and restore their degenerated senses.

The idea is coming from the random and improvised markets creates along Asia. A dense line where a lot of people are passing by and slowly, more and more sellers are placing their products on the floor in a blanket or small vehicles. Something very primitive, logical and unplanned.

The main idea is to offer some video experience as an complement of the mind and water. The lake environment with the greenery and the water creates a perfect calm room for knowledge, a perfect place where to lay down with a book and forget about the time.

The ship, floating on the water. Through a few steps people go inside the pavilion along with double high and narrow long openings in both sides. It is the display room. Along 100m-long wall with all kind of books are show in one side where in the other side a stepramp with books to generate a playground.

According to the needs of each structure to determine the size of the module, retain part of the stadium bleachers stairs, retain the basic traffic flow for the community function, distinguish the size of the inner and outer pillars, and produce a sense of penetration.

The base is located in Xihu District, Hangzhou City. There are more than 40 scenic spots in this area, and the environment is beautiful. The base is located in the southeast of the West Lake, with convenient transportation and profound historical and cultural background. The establishment of bookstores on this base can not only extend Hangzhou's tourist routes, but also integrate Hangzhou's cultural spirit with its beautiful scenery and enrich the spiritual life of the citizens.

THE POINT

Small Prefabricated Public Building Curriculum Design Date of Project: Noe. 2018 Site: Xi'an, China Instructor: Zhang Dingqing Individual work

These are his unique tourism resources, so every year there are a large number of tourists visiting Xi'an. Therefore, I would like to introduce such a small assembled building that is convenient to build in various scenic spots. He can build different locations in the scenic spot according to the change of climate, so that everyone who comes here has a new experience. Each small house can be arranged according to the characteristics of its scenic spot. For example, a small house in a historical site can have a function of introducing history.; a small house in a scenic spot can have a look at different seasons of the scenic spot ; a small house of the business district, you can have the function of selling cultural and creative products.

Concept

Location analysis This small house was designed to enrich the experience of the visitors. This small, assembled building is very flexible. It can be in one corner of the scenic area or on the bustling streets of the city. In order to make this small house better suited to different environments and to be built quickly, I chose a prefabricated approach to make as many edges as possible. The spacing between the frames is equal for quick construction.

For easy construction, looking for equilateral geometry .

Splicing of equilateral geometric figures.

Adjustment ratio and Extract basic structure.

Layout framework with same distance.

Using prefabricated planks to build the small house.

OTHER WORK

The Solar Decathlon in China

In the process of solving various rural problems in the present, we focus on the elderly and children in rural areas, and solve the problem of the living of empty nesters and left-behind children in the current "hollow village" phenomenon, hoping to adopt modular design and flexibility. The indoor space can meet the needs of residence, community activities, children's education (kindergarten), and facilitate the planning and design of the village. Through the garden-house-garden design, it is hoped to attract the interest of the elderly and children. Fully stimulate the vitality of the countryside. Inspired by the encirclement thought of the ancient Chinese building courtyard, the triple encirclement, the virtual space formed by the opening of the box gives people the natural and effective communication and communication with the outside world. At the same time, it also becomes the entrance and exit of ventilation and sunlight, forming a good light and shadow. The ventilation effect can also create a feeling of drift in a limited BOX space. With this design, people who are far away from home in modern life can be attracted to return to the rural left-behind elderly and children, giving them a high quality. Comfortable living space. The competition was hosted by the National Energy Administration of China and the US Department of Energy. A total of 22 joint teams were invited to participate, including 11 countries including China, the United States, Germany, and Australia. Tsinghua University, Tongji, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and University of Illinois at Urbana University. There are 43 universities at home and abroad, such as Nassau Campus, Politecnico di Torino, Darmstadt University of Technology, and St. Louis Washington University. In response to the 19th National Rural Revitalization Strategy, we will build a new solar low-carbon demonstration village with advanced architectural design and equipment. In the process of construction, explore the sustainable operation mode of the integration of capital, technology and platform development, and on this basis, build a number of SD green development demonstration towns and smart communities. My Xi'an Jiaotong University - New England University of the United States - Milan Polytechnic University Joint Team has prepared a number of programs in this competition. I also participated in the design planning of the team as a member of the team, and completed with the students of the Polytechnic University of Milan. An alternative.
