TOM BRADY The GOAT, On and Off the Field

It is no secret that Tom Brady is an incredible football player, the greatest of all time, in fact! But, not everyone knows that he’s also a champion for animals. During Brady’s time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers he volunteered with his children at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay! He came and went quietly and without fanfare, making sure the focus was on his children and the animals.

The Bradys, sometimes accompanied by Logan Ryan’s family, helped by walking dogs, socializing cats and kittens, and feeding rabbits. They also enjoyed visiting with veterinary and intake staff and learning about the variety of animals at the shelter and everything that goes into their care.

Brady’s gift of time, his interactions with staff, and his attention to the homeless pets made it clear that he is both a strong advocate for animals and a fantastic father. In fact, he recently "gave in" to his daughters request to adopt two of the kittens she had fallen in love with at the shelter.

HSTB is very grateful to the Brady and Ryan families for sharing their time and compassion with the animals. The staff, volunteers and all the animals at HSTB wish #12 all the best in retirement; our doors will always be open to the GOAT!

Inaugural Tees for Tails a Hole in One for the Animals!

2022 Tees Fore Tails Golf Tournament was a day to remember! The sold-out event was held at the beautiful Carrollwood Country Club and included 36 golf teams. Participants enjoyed a wonderful day on the links while raising money to support homeless animals in need. SAVE THE DATE, November 6, 2023 , for the 2 nd Annual Tees Fore Tails hosted by the Humane Society of Tampa Bay with Event Chair David Wertz!

Children are future pet owners, philanthropists, and changemakers; that is why the humane education program at HSTB is so important! Staff and volunteers love to witness children of all ages and backgrounds spend time with the animals and learn about how the shelter works. Due to the ongoing success and requests from the community, the Humane Education programs are expanding!

CRITTER CAMP: HSTB’s most popular education program, Critter Camp runs all summer and during extended breaks during the school year! Campers learn about animal care, safety and careers while hanging out with shelter pets, playing games, doing crafts, and helping with shelter activities.

PARENTS’ NIGHT OUT: Parents need a night out, and that’s where HSTB comes in! Due to popular demand, the program is now offered twice a month and with fun themes. Drop your two-legged kiddos off at the shelter from 6-10pm to play games, do crafts, and play with furry friends!

PETS & TOTS: For children ages four and under, HSTB holds Pets & Tots twice a month! Parents, grandparents, nannies, and more are invited to bring their tot to the shelter to play with small pets and do an activity. It’s a great way to expose little ones to animals in a safe environment!

NO-SCHOOL DAYS: Whenever public schools are off, HSTB has parents’ backs! Your child can spend their day off with adoptable pets, playing games and enjoying fun activities!

PAWS FOR LITERACY: Every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45pm to 4:00pm, school-age children are invited to practice their reading skills while spendig time with the animals. HSTB has books and stools and will partner them up with an adorable adoptable waiting to hear a nice story!
