Ramesh Ganeshan is the vice-president of human resources for the Asia Pacific region at Agility, a global logistics leader. He is based out of Singapore and manages 18 countries with more than 7500 employees in the region. He has more than 19 years of experience within the full suite of organisational development and performance management in different industry verticals – office automation, textiles and garments, FMCG/energy, IT and supply chain. He is passionate about enabling business and is currently focusing on developing talent from within Asia Pacific to build a sustainable leadership pipeline, not only for the region, but also globally. With solid hands-on experience in managing start-ups and business transformation, he has acquired a unique leadership paradigm in the global and Asia Pacific environment.

Thitipol Thanapaet’s HR knowledge and expertise mostly focuses on compensation and benefits, HR SAP, employment branding, talent acquisition, employee relations, and learning and development. He started his career in HR compensation with Exxon Mobil in Thailand as a compensation analyst which later expanded to cover seven other countries in the region. During his time at Exxon Mobil, his career was very dynamic. There were not only opportunities in HR as he was given other opportunities to rotate outside of HR, which included the role of global SAP compensation support in the IT department and territory manager in the fuels marketing department. After Exxon Mobil, he expanded his HR knowledge and experience to recruitment and employer branding strategies at Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production. He also worked for Philip Morris, Colgate Palmolive and GDF Suez Energy Asia as he progressed his career in compensation and benefits. He last held a C&B position at GDF Suez Energy Asia as regional compensation and benefits manager for Asia, Middle East, and Africa before American Express (Thailand) where he has held the position of head of human resources since 2011. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Bangkok University and a MBA degree in corporate finance from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Srikanth Chandrashekhar joined Bombardier Transportation as HR director of APAC SSO and operations in August 2013. His top priorities include regional strategies in the areas of scaling the SSO and operations organisation, establishing a staffing delivery strategy for blue and white-collar employees, implementing the global grading and total rewards delivery practice across the region, consolidating payroll delivery, establishing a robust learning delivery function and developing an effective local plus programme aiding employee transfers in and out of Asia. He has 13 years of international experience in HR operations, technology and transformation, including eight years with Honeywell Inc and most recently with EMC.

Gary Lai joined Charterhouse in the middle of 2011 and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and building up the business in the SEA region. He started his career at Citibank in its technology and operations division before moving to the Singapore Exchange as a senior associate. He subsequently joined a well-established global recruitment firm as a banking consultant and was instrumental in starting the front office financial services division. He was then given additional responsibility in managing the HR division and also spent one year in Shanghai, where he led the financial services and commerce practices. He graduated from the University of Manchester, UK, in finance with honours.

Victor L. Magdaraog is vice-president with operational responsibility for the Philippines, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore markets. He has more than 35 years of working experience in various line and consulting positions in human resource development and talent management. Having been a part of hundreds of assessment centre implementations, he has seen some of the best talent in Asia uncovered even before they were hired and developed to be even greater leaders.

Madan Nagaldinne is passionate about talent and leadership. Over the past 15 years he has gained a progressively global HR expertise working for Amazon, KLA Tencor and other global MNC brands. Before joining Facebook in early 2011, he was the director and head of HR for Amazon for India and Singapore, where he and his team helped scale Amazon’s operations to more than 5,000 people and four development centres. Before Amazon, he worked with KLA Tencor, Microland and Tavant Technologies. He has a Master’s degree in personnel management and industrial relations from the London School of Economics. His extensive experience in Silicon Valley, combined with his stints in globally recognised high-tech companies, has made him a sought-after speaker and a recognised expert in the field of social media in HR.

Ajit Nambiar Head of compensation - APAC, EMEA and LatAm Google Ajit Nambiar leads international compensation for Google across three regions: APAC, EMEA and LatAm. In his role, he ensures compensation in the regions is competitive and aligned with business needs to attract and retain talent. He is also part of the APAC HR leadership team. Before Google, he was a principal at Mercer where he led a profitable practice/P&L and has had experience consulting across a diverse set of areas, including engagements in organisation diagnostics and structuring, compensation, performance management, talent management, international mobility, and site selection across a range of industries in APAC.

Robert Hooijberg is a professor of organisational behaviour, associate dean for faculty and a member of the management team at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland. His research, teaching and consulting focus on leadership and 360-degree feedback, negotiations, team-building, and organisational culture. He assumed his position at IMD in September, 2000. Before joining IMD, he taught at Rutgers University in its MBA and executive MBA programmes in New Jersey, Singapore, and Beijing. In 1997, while at the Rutgers Business School, he was named Professor of the Year by the MBA students and the faculty. His research has appeared in such journals as the Leadership Quarterly, the Journal of Management, Human Relations, Organisation Science, Human Resource Management, Hospital and Health Services Administration, the Journal of Applied Social Psychology, the Journal of Management Education, Administration and Society, the International Journal of Organisational Analysis, and the Journal of Organisational Behaviour. He has published two books: Leading Culture Change in Global Organizations (2012 with Denison and Lane) and Being There Even When You Are Not: Leading Through Strategy, Structures and Systems (2007, with Hunt, Antonakis and Lane).

Lau Yin Cheng is the cluster director of human resources and organisation development cluster at the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore, which aims to grow Singapore into a dynamic global infocomm hub and to leverage infocomm for Singapore’s economic and social development. He was previously SVP of HR and admin for Ascott Group, as well as SVP of HR and admin for SembCorp Logistics. He has more than 12 years of professional strategic management and human resource experience in a regional capacity, spanning government sectors and publicly listed hospitality and logistics MNCs. He has expertise in partnering with senior business leaders and leading HR specialists and generalists in achieving organisational goals and bringing out the best in people. He is also on SMU’s panel of career coaches for master’s students.

Denis Tournesac was appointed president of the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region on December 1, 2012. Before that, he ran global sales for NGA, delivering strategic sales and support for NGA’s largest enterprise customers, and driving revenue growth for new and renewal business. He joined NGA (then ARINSO) in 2000 as managing director for France. By 2002, he had been appointed regional manager of Southern Europe, with his responsibilities later on extending to Canada. In 2009, he became VP of global alliances and channels, managing NGA’s relationship with SAP and the various partnerships in place, like those for BPO, On Demand and all the partners of the euHReka ecosystem. In May 2011, he was in charge of sales and marketing for Europe and LATAM. Before joining NGA, he was a successful managing director of France and then VP for Southern Europe for Control Data Systems from 1986 to 2000. He started his career in Canada in 1982 at IST (the third largest IT services company in Canada), where he worked as a marketing and sales manager for IST’s online services business unit, a leading online database services vendor. He has a Master’s degree in business administration from Lyon Business School in France.

Based in Singapore, Syed Ali Abbas is responsible for managing Pacnet’s HR function globally. His role is to maintain the highest standards for attracting, retaining and developing talented professionals across Pacnet’s worldwide operations; as well as drive the focus in HR in supporting the business strategy, organisation development and transformation. He has more than 14 years of HR experience. He joined Pacnet from AT&T where he worked in various capacities for more than 11 years, most recently as executive director of HR for the Asia Pacific region. Before AT&T, he worked in the HR team for KPMG’s consulting arm in India. He holds a BA (honors) from Delhi University and a postgraduate diploma in business analysis from Lancaster University. He is a certified HR management professional (HRMP), a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and a member of the National HRD Network of India (NHRDN).

Karen Cariss is one of the founders of the award-winning global talent management software provider, PageUp People. A key driving force behind the company’s success, she sets its strategic direction as well as ensuring all synergies across its divisions. She has been lauded as one of the HR technology industry’s exceptional entrepreneurs, having raised $10 million in growth equity for her company in 2012. Her extreme passion for the company is evident in her work and attitude, which has been publicly acknowledged by being listed as 28th on BRW’s Top 50 Female Entrepreneurs in June 2006 and winning the Ernst & Young “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” for 2008 and the Victorian Telstra Women’s Business Award in 2009. She is formally qualified with a Bachelor of Applied Science and Honours in science. Born in Australia, she resides in Singapore with her family.

Simon Cariss is one of the founders of PageUp People. Today, he is a key driving force of the company, setting the strategic direction of product development of its suite of web-based talent management solutions. His passion for the company and its innovative new technology has been publicly acknowledged with PageUp People receiving the B3000 Innovation Award in 2006 and frequently delivering first-to-market solutions. He is formally qualified with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Swinburne University as well as a certificate in the venture capital executive programme in 2000 from the University of California, Berkeley – Walter A. Haas School of Business.

Navid Nazemian is a commercially experienced global HR professional with more than 18 years of progressive experience at operational and strategic levels. He has worked across various industries for world-class organisations such as adidas, GE and BAT. He is currently working as a global HR business partner for Roche. Sometimes referred to as, “The celebrity HR speaker”, he has delivered workshops and keynote presentations across Europe, Middle East and Asia. He is the co-author of the books Interimsmanagement, HR Service Management and Contagious Optimism! and has co-written the famous article series on “HR Transformation” with professor Dave Ulrich. He holds a Master’s degree in international management from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and is a trained principled negotiator at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, US. As a member of the Harvard Business Review’s advisory council, McKinsey’s executive panel and part-time university lecturer, he is passionate about connecting the corporate world and academia to enable individuals, teams and organisations to be the best they can be.

Ravi Ramanathan has more than 16 years of HR experience in North America and APAC in regional and global roles. He has worked as a HR generalist and specialist focusing on careers, workforce strategy, talent management, benefits, OD and employee engagement. With an MBA in HR from India, he is working with Standard Chartered Bank as global head of HR of group technology. Before this role, he was with Credit Suisse AG as APAC head of HR for investment bank technology based out of Singapore and also had management oversight over the CoE in India. His earlier stints were with Accenture India where he was the HR lead for the CHT (communications, hi-tech and telecom) vertical business. He started his career with Satyam Computer (now Mahindra Satyam) where he was the head of Pune CoE before taking over as the head of HR for North America covering HR and benefits based out of New Jersey.

Ragi Singh is vice-president of HR and admin for SEA at Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN). He is responsible for formulating, directing, aligning and implementing human resource strategies to ensure human capital assets are available, properly trained and developed to achieve the organisation’s business strategies. In Asia, VIMN operates 21 television channels that offer the very best in music, kids, comedy and family programming through its MTV, MTV Live HD, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and Comedy Central brands. They are seen in more than 242 million households via 24-hour feeds. He has more than 16 years of experience in the human resources industry. Before joining VIMN, he served as vice-president and head of human resources for AIA Singapore, leading the company through the global financial crisis in 2008 and the successful IPO of AIA in 2010.
