Editor’s note If I had to use one word to describe the state of the HR technology landscape today, it would be “exploding”, or perhaps, “dynamic”. There’s no doubt the space is booming. Organisations are (somewhat slowly) embracing the forward path carved out by the advances of HR technology, and are beginning to really see the benefits of making the investment into innovative people technologies. To stay competitive, companies feel more than ever that they need to get innovative and open themselves up to exploring the plethora of solutions out there. Perhaps one of the other words we could use to describe the effect technology has had on HR as a function should be “disruptive”. This would be appropriate given just how much of an effect integrated systems and applications have had on automating HR practices – whether we’re talking about anything from recruitment, to L&D, to engagement methods. To give you some idea of how big this is, the HR software market alone has surpassed the $15 billion mark this year – and this will only increase in 2015. So how can you as HR leaders really evaluate where your company sits within the HR tech landscape? What are your priority objectives, and how can you cut through the hype to discover what ideas or solutions out there may actually help you?

From delving into issues such as big data and analytics, mobile HR and HR cloud, to how social media and collaboration can be effectively utilised within the function and discussing nextgeneration recruitment tools, HR Tech Interactive 2014 is back once again to help your organisation – unique in its size, industry and scope of work – boost its human capital strategy. We’ve pulled together a great crowd of HR professionals and HR technology and IT experts who understand the challenges you are all currently experiencing. The interactive format once again gives all delegates the chance to really talk about your concerns in a small group environment, and get the answers you need via some excellent peerto-peer knowledge sharing. Hopefully, you walk away from today feeling as though you’ve been connected with the information you need to become more dynamic and disruptive within your own HR strategies. I hope you enjoy the day.

Not only will you walk away with the information you wanted the most, you’ll make new friends and contacts along the way.

Interactive roundtable sessions 1. Big data and analytics Workforce analytics are becoming rapidly prevalent as a key business and HR tool and a major component to strategic decision-making. However, gathering and interpreting data is not without its pitfalls and the approach is still, for many, in the assessment stage. This discussion will be your chance to hear from and question experts on how they met the challenges of using workforce data and how they succeeded in bringing about greater efficiencies and decision-making as a result. A – Michelle Murphy, HR business partner, APAC, OpenLink Financial B – Dion Groeneweg, growth markets lead workforce planning & analytics and HR transformation, Mercer talent, Mercer

2. Mobile HR Mobile technology and applications are changing the way everybody works – from your workforce to your own function. Increased productivity through the use of the right mobile applications is undeniable, but how can the HR function leverage on similar tech to advance the way it operates? In this discussion, you’ll find out how. A – Harsh Vardhan G, executive vice president, global marketing and channels, Ramco B – Syed Ali Abbas, CHRO, Pacnet

3. HR cloud Major benefits such as lower TCO, increased flexibility, scalability and, any place any time access, have seen more and more organisations moving HRIS onto the cloud. But with a large increase in solutions providers going in the same direction, knowing what the right fit is for your organisation, amid a plethora of differing options, is a challenge in itself. Discuss your challenges, concerns and organisational requirements at the HR cloud table and uncover the information that matters to you. A – Gordon Zeilstra, vice president, product strategy - Asia, SuccessFactors, an SAP company B – Aaron Green, vice president of HCM strategy, applications, Oracle

4. Social media and collaboration Social media now plays a part in the lives of almost everybody, in many cases becoming the norm by which many individuals communicate – so getting it right in the workplace has become crucial. Many now report that social media, when done right, delivers increased employee engagement, internal collaboration, ideas and knowledge exchange and greater job satisfaction. This discussion is your opportunity to find out how practitioners are getting this right and what could work best for you. A – Sabrina Jaksa, head of HR, APAC, Hootsuite B – May Wong, regional HR business partner, APAC, Barclays

5. Next generation recruitment tools Operating in a candidate-driven market means you need to get off on the right foot with those that could make a difference to your business. Showing your forward-thinking approach and the tech-savvy way in which you open a dialogue with external candidates is becoming a must for market-leading companies. This is your forum for discussing evolving best-practices and learning the tips and techniques that will make a difference to you. A – Nidhi Das, HR leader, shared services and delivery, APAC, Autodesk B – Jaidip Chatterjee, former regional head of HR, Standard Chartered Bank
