Chefs for Equality brings together the capital region's top chefs, pastry chefs and mixologists for an evening of food, cocktails and music to benefit the fight for full LGBTQ+ equality.
Chefs for Equality is a fundraising event to help advance LGBTQ+ equality through the work of the HRC Foundation, the educational arm of the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization.
The HRC Foundation works to educate the public and provides training and model policies that alter the fundamental nature of the institutions that govern the everyday lives of LGBTQ+ people everywhere. The HRC Foundation touches every aspect of
LGBTQ+ life with programs that target our most sensitive and vulnerable interactions:
• Helping with equal access to adoption and foster care
• Creating respectful and supportive school environments
• Helping healthcare providers increase LGBTQ+ competency
• Engaging in dialogue around LGBTQ+ equality in faith communities
• Helping corporate America adopt inclusive workplace policies and practices
• Leveraging our domestic work to have an international impact
The event has skyrocketed in size over the years, becoming a must-attend evening for D.C.’s hospitality industry. Along with silent and live auction items, a sea of attendees got to indulge in a smorgasbord of bites and cocktails from the city’s top chefs and mixologists
- Eater
The jewels of the Chefs for Equality crown are 13 personal chef tables — an opportunity to dine with celebrity chefs for a lavish five-course meal and wine pairing right in the middle of the action during the event. The tables are beautifully designed and decorated by Amaryllis Floral + Event Design.
Row upon row of tasting stations! The event features more than 50 savory tasting stations where food lovers can try an incredibly wide range of dishes. From mini Kimchi Reubens to foie gras macarons, guests can nibble until their hearts (and stomachs!) are content.
New this year! Drag Brunch
Drag Brunch meets Speed Diner - an interactive entertainment experience where guests can take a break from the main event and purchase a time slot for a seat at the diner. There they will enjoy a specialty cocktail and a mini brunchinspired tasting menu prepared and served by a group of celebrity chefs and performances by some of DC’s top Queens!
Opulently decorated cakes, exotic gelato flavors, pastries, candies and more! Too full for dessert? Not to worry — to-go boxes are available so you can satisfy your sweet tooth after you head home.
Guests can indulge in any and all drinks they desire! In addition to DC’s local wineries and breweries, the area’s top mixologists hand-craft more than 20 unique spirit-forward cocktails throughout the event.
In addition to impressive fare, live and silent auctions are held throughout the evening. Guests can bid on items like jewelry, or a chic picnic basket overflowing with gourmet food and beverage products, as well as experiences such as international travel packages, or unique dining experiences at some of the DMV’s most exclusive establishments.
800 Chefs for Equality goody bags, each chock-full of gourmet food, artisanal coffee, treats and coupons from local retailers are distributed as guests exit the event.
New this year! Queerlada Shop
A cafe in the middle of the action, featuring Latin-inspired savory dishes, pastries and libations, curated by the popular D.C.-based Colada Shop Cuban Cafe & Bar.
