PLATI NU M
HRC NATIONAL CORPORATE PARTNERS

Welcome

Dear HRC Members, Friends, Family and Allies,

Welcome to the 2022 HRC Seattle Dinner!

After almost three years, we are thrilled to be back together with you at the Seattle Sheraton for what promises to be an amazing and uplifting evening celebrating the resilience of our community. The HRC Seattle Steering Committee has been hard at work over the last many months to make this event possible and we could not be happier to have you all here with us this evening.

As we approach the coming midterm elections, HRC staff and volunteers are working hard to elect pro-equality candidates up and down the ballot across the nation.

Gathering together now is more important than ever. Anti-trans, anti-lgbtq, and anti-choice legislators are using dangerous rhetoric to pass legislation designed to roll back our freedoms. We know however, that a majority of the country supports equality and we will use the power of our collective voices to fight for full equality in every corner of this nation. HRC Seattle is hard at work here locally and we need you in this fight. While we enjoy a vast array of freedoms and protections here in Washington, we know that many of those freedoms change as soon as we cross state lines. We need federal legislation like the Equality Act and the Respect for Marriage Act to be signed into law and to do that we need a majority of pro-equality candidates to be elected in November. Join us in our work here in Seattle by visiting www.hrc.im/seattlevolunteer and sign up to volunteer with us this fall.

We would like to thank all of the local volunteers, steering committee members, donors, supporters and HRC staff who make this event possible. To our corporate partners, we thank you for the leadership you display recognizing and celebrating the value of LGBTQIA employees in your workplace. To our auction donors, we thank you for your seeing value in our work and supporting us through your donations. To all of our amazing HRC volunteers, we thank you for your countless hours, leadership, and talents which allows The Human Rights Campaign to continue to be successful in creating change locally and across the nation.

Enjoy the evening and thank you so much for being here!

In Solidarity,

Andy LaBadie(he/him/his)

Abby Sevier (she/her/her)

Harvey Guillen

VISIBILITY AWARD

GLAAD award-winning actor and producer Harvey Guillén’s inventive and creative approach to acting has won the hearts of fans across the globe in the Emmy nominated FX comedy series “What We Do In the Shadows.” Guillén’s role as “Guillermo De la Cruz” earned him a Critics Choice Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Guillen made LGBTQ+ Latinx History by becoming the first queer Latinx actor to be nominated in this category.

In the series created by Jermaine Clement and based on the Taika Waititi film of the same name, Guillén stars alongside Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry and Natasia Demetriou and Mark Proksch. “What We Do In The Shadows” has been included on over 50 “Best of” lists including The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Rolling Stone and The New Yorker. The shows season four finale premiered in September 2022 and is currently renewed for its fifth and sixth seasons.

Guillén has taken on the role of Jasper, a local medical examiner, in Amazon’s “Reacher.” The series is based on the character Jack Reacher from Lee Child’s international bestselling books. The entire first season is available to stream on Amazon Prime. He also voices José the spider in the Netflix series “Human Resources,” Gabe in the “Bone, Marry, Burry” podcast, Perro in “Puss in Boots 2,” which will be released in 2022 by Dreamworks and a key role in DC’s upcoming “Blue Beetle” which will be released in August 2023. Guillén has also joined the third season of the GLAAD nominated series, “Harley Quinn” in his role, Nightwing, which was released this summer.

Guillén is the host of FX’s social media talk show, “After the Shadows” which airs weekly following new episodes of the show. It features interviews with cast, crew and celebrity fans of the show. Episodes air on TheShadowsFX via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram as well as on FX’s official YouTube channel.

Additionally, Guillén lends his voice to ‘Funny’, an enchanted talking playhouse, on Disney Junior’s “Mickey Mouse Funhouse.” Each episode follows ‘Funny’ as he leads Mickey Mouse and his pals on imaginative adventures.

In 2021, Guillén starred in “Werewolves Within” based on the Ubisoft game of the same name. Guillén acts opposite Michael Chernus, Michaela Watkins, Sam Richardson, Cheyenne Jackson and more. Similar to the video game, the horror comedy film is directed by Josh Ruben and revolves around the shenanigans that ensue when a massive blizzard isolates a small Vermont town, causing simmering resentments to boil over as the oddball townspeople are one by one picked off by a mysterious creature.

Guillén joined the cast of NBC’s “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” in Season 2 showcasing his musical side in a multiepisode arc. Guillén played a programmer who is constantly seeking approval from Zoey (Jane Levy) and his colleagues. Guillén got his start in acting after watching “Annie” on TV as a child. Since then, he has been seen in a wide array of TV series and films including Syfy’s “The Magicians” created by Sera Gamble, John McNamara, Nickelodeon’s “The Thundermans” Created by Jed Springarn, Apple TV’s “Little America” and MTV’s “Eye Candy” starring Victoria Justice. Harvey also portrayed Elijah in the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Me What to Do episode of the series “Raising Hope,” and received a GLAAD Media Award for his role. In film, Guillén acted opposite Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in the Shawn Levy-directed comedy “The Internship” and in Netflix’s mystery thriller “Truth or Dare” directed by Nick Simon. Guillén resides in Los Angeles.

Niki Haris is best known for being Madonna’s background singer and dancer for 18 years. This dynamic woman has since gone on to build an impressive solo career, spanning a multitude of genres, including pop, dance, R & B, jazz and gospel.

Though her career has focused on singing and dancing, choreography and acting are also a part of her immense career. After choreographing the MTV Awards for Madonna, Niki helped stage scenes for Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct as well as choreographing for the television series Melrose Place. Lead appearances in Madonna’s Truth or Dare and featured artist on the HBO special Sandra After Dark as well as roles in the Al Pacino/Robert Deniro hit Heat have lead to public awareness and a desire to strengthen her acting career. Niki continued to build her singing career while touring with her father and promoting their albums, Down Home Blues and their inspirational CD, In His Hands . After her father’s untimely passing, Niki has carried on his legacy with a series of jazz tours.

In 2002, Niki was once again called on the road with the Madonna for her Drowned World Tour, and was highly featured in her Grammy nominated music video for the song “Music”. All this while promoting her own tour and smash single, “Dancefloor” mixed by DJ/Producer Jr. Vasquez. After completing two tours back to back, Niki decided to put her focus on her solo pursuits and she went into the studio to record a new dance CD Total Love , as well as a new live jazz CD, Live in Switzerland, as well as a live gospel record, The Beginning , recorded with John Barnes at Innersound Studios; all released in the summer of 2003.

Not one to rest, she continued to record and created new avenues to show her many diverse musical colors. She recorded a new Jazz CD “Live in London”, Toured Europe with her Jazz Quartet, and performed live dates as Featured Vocalist with RUFUS, stepping in for the legendary former lead singer, Chaka Khan. She released Special Edition through Thump Records/Universal as well as a Billboard charting dance hit “Let Me Hear The Music” produced by DJ Eddie X through 3 Monkeys Music. She also continued her love of jazz by touring with the production of Billie & Me , a celebration of the life of Billie Holiday. Here, Niki sang along side Nancy Wilson, Dianne Reeves, Rita Coolidge, Joan Osborne, and African songstress Rokia Traore. Her Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center performances were a smashing success. Niki continues to share her gifts throughout the years by performing at a multitude of benefits for AIDS, Cancer research as well as Camp Harmony for inner city children. She is also a strong supporter for the Music in the Classroom program and RAAD (Rockers Against Drunk Driving). She diligently lends her time as an annual participant in the Season for Non Violence.

Niki is currently doing show with her “old sister and favorite songstress”, Donna DeLory - the other voice behind Madonna for over a decade and performing her jazz shows as well. For more info on Niki Haris please visit DivasAndDjs.com .

WHAT WE DO

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer equality. Since 1980, we have been fighting for a better future for LGBTQ+ Americans. We are now working tirelessly to pass the Equality Act, which will soon head to the U.S. Senate for consideration, fight back against a multitude of anti-LGBTQ+ legis-lation in states nationwide and ensure everyone in our community is treated with dignity and respect. While our opponents are emboldened and on the attack, the Human Rights Campaign and our grass-roots army of more than 3.2 million members and supporters are energetically defending the rights we’ve gained and ramping up our fight for full equality across the board.

ANTI-EQUALITY LEADERS AND LEGISLATION

The alarming spate of anti-LGBTQ+ bills introduced across the country in 2020 has continued to surge in 2021. These include bills that would prohibit transgender youth from receiving genderaffirming care and bills that would prohibit transgender youth from participating in sports. This wave of anti-transgender legislation harkens back to the surge of anti-transgender bathroom bills that hit state legislatures in 2016, including North Carolina’s HB2. We remain committed to aggressively fighting these threats to equality by those who seek to undermine our rights. HRC will do whatever it takes to protect the rights and fundamental equality of every LGBTQ+ person in this country.

BU ILDING A ND DEMONSTR AT ING POLITICAL P OWER

HRC’s decades-long work to build political power has uniquely positioned us to reach LGBTQ+ and ally voters who prioritize equality on the ballot, also known as Equality Voters. HRC has identified 57 million Equality Voters nationwide who, if they turn out to vote, will support pro-equality candidates. HRC’s early and sustained year-round engagement in battleground states like Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin bolstered historic turnout in 2018 and 2020 producing pro-equality outcomes at every level of government. In 2019, HRC’s mobilization of Equality Voters in Virginia, where lawmakers had repeatedly blocked proequality bills over many years, produced groundbreaking progress for LGBTQ+ Americans in the South. These victories led to the Virginia Values Act becoming law, making Virginia the first state in the South to advance statewide nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ+ people.

ADVANCING EQUALITY IN OUR DAILY LIVES

The HRC Foundation improves the lives LGBTQ+ people by building understanding and shaping the public debate of LGBTQ+ people and the challenges they face through innovative research and public education campaigns. We also change the policies and practices in the institutions that shape our everyday lives (hospitals, schools, workplaces, and more) and empower strategic partners, community advocates, and allies through convenings and capacity-building. Guided by these theories of change and seeking to prioritize work impacting those who are multiply marginalized, we have 11 cuttingedge programs advancing equality in the U.S. and beyond.

All Children - All Families is the only national program dedicated to LGBTQ+ inclusion in child welfare (foster care and adoption agencies) that provides resource development, technical assistance and training.

Public Education & Research produces written resources and conducts original quantitative and qualitative research exploring the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people.

Global Partnerships provides capacity-building and leadership development opportunities to LGBTQ+ advocates from around the world to strengthen movements and advance global LGBTQ+ equality.
