Chasing Sunrise Lawet Village Tourism Panusupan

W

hat's on your mind when you hear words 'sunrise and sunset'? You may directly refer them with these words: beach or sea. However, from now on you should start thinking another words; Panusupan Tourism Village, which is located in Rembang subdistrict. Lies on Ardi Lawet hilltops, Panusupan is a perfect spot for having a spectacular sunset and sunrise at an altitude. While enjoying sunrise (Busur) and sunset (Buset), the travelers are challenged for capturing the excellent moments. Make sure your fingers ready to touch on cameras for the best shot, and get beautiful pictures. Feel the sensation of like living in heaven above the clouds. While capturing sunset or sunrise on the beach has become a popular activity, hunting sunrise here would be an awesome one. Instead of its beautiful sunset or sunrise, Panusupan Village is also rich in potential tourisms such as industrial & educational tourism, where visitors visitting and getting involved in a palm sugar, gemstone/agate, and souvenir manufactures or tracing for ancient artifacts. You may also try other outdoor activities such as camping and having outbond in Wanatirta camping ground and Pesantren Waterfall. Other cultural tourisms are also available such as playing karawitan and khothekan lesung and watching Dayakan and Lengger Unil/Lengger Lanang dances. Dayakan is a unique local dance which resembles to Topeng Ireng Dance performed in the villages of Mount Merapi - Merbabu slopes. In Purbalingga, Dayakan dance is presented by children who apply more natural accessories rather than those of Topeng Ireng. Their faces were painted with charcoal which remind us of forest-dwellers. The dancers are dressed up with leaves, grasses and yellow janur (a young coconut leaf). Simple music instruments like kenthongan, gong, and

9

buckets completed the show. Two kinds of grasses used in the show, Kapulata and Jakaprias grass. Kapulata grass implies a hope may villagers lives orderly and harmoniously. Then Japakrias grass sends a message may the shows could prevent bad lucks and diseases. Yellow Janur also has a significant meaning. Janur is derived from from Javanesse words “Sejatine ning Nur” which means reaching for God's divine light, while yellow color itself symbolizes “Sabda Dadi” which means something pours out of a pure heart/soul. So, yellow janur here symbolizes a hope to reach the divine light generated from a pure heart /soul. Yellow janur emphasizes a high and noble ideal to reach the light of God with a pure heart.

It's very easy to to reach Panusupan either by private or public transportations. There are two optional routes to get there ; via Bobotsari and via Kaligondang.
