Construction Design &Management CDM Regulations The regulation covers all aspects of health, well-being and safety regarding construction projects. The documents aim to reduce risks and identify them before construction commences on site. The documents cover the relevant laws which apply to the construction phases from initiation to hand over. The document also provides everyone with information in regards to what rules they must comply with in order for the project to comply with relevant health and safety rulings.
Principle Designer The role of a principle design is the person who is responsible for the pre-construction phase of the project in regards to design and health and safety. Their responsibilities include… • • • • • • •
Advise client to bring design information (If not part of the design team) Assembling design information in order to create health and safety files for client and other disciplines. Ensuring project and staff comply with laws which regulate health and safety in construction. Planning and managing the pre-construction documents regarding CDM. Ensuring everyone is engaged and informed about the dangers Work to eliminate risks and advise against any foreseeable risks which may occur. Produce a risk register highlighting the risks.
