THE BROADMOOR’S legendary New Year’s Eve Gala is an elegant affair in Broadmoor Hall, featuring a gourmet fourcourse dinner accompanied by music from The Broadmoor Pops Orchestra with Nelson Rangell, Peter Olstad and singer Jill Carr, who will share her vast repertoire of pop favorites from Frank Sinatra to Pink. Following the dinner performance, guests will “Twist and Shout” with The Fab 4, the country’s favorite Beatles tribute band. At midnight, welcome 2017 with champagne and a balloon drop while The Fab 4 brings everyone to their feet.

THE ART OF FINE DINING SOME MAY CONTEND THAT
fine dining has become a “lost art” in an age of convenience and expediency. Nonsense, we say. The Broadmoor is proud of its continued commitment to refining and redefining what constitutes a finedining experience, while exceeding expectations at every turn. Nowhere is this tradition of excellence more evident than in Penrose Room, Colorado’s only AAA Five-Diamond, Forbes Five-Star restaurant. It’s not just tradition that keeps guests coming back generation after generation. It's the excitement that comes from relishing in unexpected culinary delights delivered with superlative service. “It’s our job to take guests on a dining journey that is delightful and fun,” says Penrose Room manager Duane Thompson, who has enjoyed 36 years of distinguished service at The Broadmoor. “Not just pleasing to the palate, but an entire experience that leaves guests feeling wonderful and ready to boast about what made their evening memorable.”

e greeted many new guests and welcomed back returning friends this past season at The Broadmoor’s Ranch at Emerald Valley. It has been a joy to provide a setting that has helped create so many special memories for our Ranch guests. Reba and Sunny, our resident Ranch dogs, stayed busy with fishing and hiking alongside our guests — making many new friends along the way. The Ranch is nestled in a lush valley surrounded by towering peaks and more than 100,000 acres of the Pike National Forest. We have more than 60 miles of trails to explore during your visit! We also offer horseback riding, fishing, archery and many more activities, as well as plenty of time and space to relax and just enjoy being together. The Ranch is a beautiful place that encourages our guests to stay longer, to return often and to enjoy every moment during their stay. THE BROADMOOR FISHING CAMP
his season was spectacular. Even our most experienced fly fishermen had to stop and exclaim, “Wow!” We saw many first-year fish after a very productive rainbow and cutthroat trout spawn. We also saw a great variety of sizes. Some of us have even been so lucky as to catch some very big fish! The fish are abundant, making my job even more fun. Our property is adjacent to the 100,000-acre Lost Creek Wilderness. There are myriad hiking options, and we are now offering horseback riding at the camp. We also have a wonderful half-day trip that includes a few miles of riding, ending with fishing in the upper stretches of these prime, beautiful waters. With five miles of private fishing waters, a comfy and rustic lodge, and now horseback rides, The Broadmoor Fishing Camp has grown into a truly unique experience.

reetings from the top of our mountain, 3,000 feet above The Broadmoor! As I am writing this letter, toward the end of our 2016 season, a wonderful mid-afternoon shower is rolling over the mountain, leaving us with the fresh smell of wet pine in the air. After a busy morning of yoga, hiking, archery and mule rides, camp guests are either in their cabins taking a nap, lulled by the light patter of rain on the roofs, or sitting by a crackling fire in the Lodge sipping cocktails and enjoying fresh chocolate chip cookies. We’re seeing more hikers near the stables with the completion of the Sunrise Trail down to Old Stage Road, and the mules love the extra attention. This 2.2mile path offers gorgeous views as it winds down the northern ridge of Cheyenne Mountain and connects with a trail leading to Seven Falls, making it a great 4.5-mile “end hike” for our guests departing Camp. We also hosted several memorable events and weddings at The Overlook this season and look forward to holding many more meetings and special occasions in our exclusive new event space during the 2017 season! — Sasha Burke, manager, Cloud Camp

“The Broadmoor and Sea Island combine two of the few remaining independent resorts left in the world that, through their storied histories, have set the standard for service and facilities.” — STEVE BARTOLIN, PRESIDENT OF THE BROADMOOR-SEA ISLAND COMPANY 20
the Broa dmoor Bona nza / Fa ll/Winter 2016 – 2017
Introducing THE BROADMOORSEA ISLAND COMPANY Under its newly announced family ownership, The Broadmoor and Georgia’s Sea Island are linked by a shared commitment to excellence.
F
or nearly a century, generations of Broadmoor guests have enjoyed the legendary service, hospitality and ever-evolving activities and amenities of America’s premier mountain resort. And now, on the eve of its centennial celebration in 2018, The Broadmoor is pleased to announce that it has joined a similarly distinguished coastal resort destination — Sea Island in Georgia’s Golden Isles — under one owner, the Anschutz family. This has resulted in the formation of The Broadmoor-Sea Island Company. The coming together of two iconic brands under shared, privately held ownership is nearly unheard of in today’s hospitality industry, yet it makes perfect sense
given each property’s long-standing commitment to excellence. Each offers guests an unequaled Forbes FiveStar experience steeped in tradition, while also continually enhancing its offerings to better serve today’s discerning travelers, including top-rated golf programs, fine dining, luxurious spas and many more amenities.
