Opportunities to Volunteer PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION All Hun Parents are considered members of The Parents’ Association (PA) and we encourage all parents to be involved and participate in PA events and volunteer opportunities. The Executive Board of the PA is made up of parent volunteer leaders. This group, chaired by current parent, Kathleen MitchellD’Aulerio, meets monthly and members are active in many activities across campus. Under the leadership of the Executive Board, the PA helps to create connections between Hun families while supporting the School through events, communications, service, and fundraising. Through the PA, parents can get involved in a variety of programs throughout the year. A sample of PA programs, events, and volunteer opportunities are listed below. ANNUAL GALA & AUCTION Volunteer opportunities range from invitation design and logistical support to sponsorship solicitation and silent auction coordination assistance. FACULTY & STAFF APPRECIATION EVENTS The PA hosts appreciation events each year to thank faculty and staff for all that they do to enrich the Hun School experience for all families. MIDDLE SCHOOL Support the Middle School activities throughout the year including Orientation, Back to School Night, dances, and other social and academic activities.

NEW PARENT CONNECTIONS At the beginning of each school year, members of the New Parent Connections Committee are paired with new Hun families to help them navigate and adjust to their first few months at Hun. PARENT SOCIAL EVENTS Create, plan, and/or host parent social events throughout the year to foster a feeling of community and get to know fellow parents! CHAT (COFFEE WITH THE HUN ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM) CHAT events provide parents with the opportunity to get to know Hun administrative staff and other parents, and to stay up-to-date on happenings at Hun. HUN FUND Hun Fund volunteers serve as public advocates of The Hun Fund, the School’s annual fundraising priority. Volunteers assist members of the Advancement Office, the Development Committee, and the PA Hun Fund Chair in a variety of ways including Raider Giving Day outreach, signing letters to fellow parents asking for their support, and serving as ambassadors with other parents about the importance of The Hun Fund and their support of the School.

For more information on volunteering at Hun, please contact Associate Director of Donor and Parent Relations, Bridget Tavani, at bridgettavani@hunschool.org or any member of the PA Executive Board.

Why We Volunteer

Coming to “Getting involved with the Parents’ Association is a fantastic opportunity to fully engage in life at Hun. Connecting with other parents, celebrating the dedication of our teachers, and contributing to the School as a whole not only enriches the experience for our children, but also the broader community. Hun is a fabulous place to be and there is nothing more rewarding and fun than getting involved!”

Kate Bricker Eliza '22 & Graham '25

“I started volunteering at Hun when my son was a freshman as a way to meet people. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, it was easy to get involved. Now in our 3rd year at Hun, I continue to volunteer because it has been such a positive and rewarding experience. I truly enjoy welcoming new families and helping them find their way like others did for me. Our family is having a fantastic experience at Hun and being a parent volunteer feels like a small way to say thank you.”

Kerry Kandel Zach '21 & Samantha '23

“When my son started as a freshman, the Parents’ Association (PA) was a great way for me to meet other parents, get involved with the school and to contribute my skills for the various projects sponsored by the PA. That was 6 years ago. Now my 3rd and youngest is a sophomore at Hun, and I continue my involvement and have joined the Parents’ Association Board. I’m very thankful to be able to work hand in hand with the administration and staff to support and enhance the students’ experience at the School. I look forward to meeting new parents each year and welcoming them to the wonderful Hun family.” Sosi Balian Raffi '17, Andre '19 & John '22

Opportunities to Give Philanthropic support from our generous alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends helps to enhance the outstanding educational offerings for our students, maintain top-notch facilities, increase professional development opportunities for faculty, and elevate the robust academic and extracurricular programs at Hun.

HUN FUND The Hun Fund is the School’s annual fundraising priority and touches all areas of the School – its campus, programs, and people. Gifts received through the Hun Fund go directly to the School’s operating budget. We know our donors value all that the Hun experience provides, but understand that certain parts hold a special place in your heart. While we continue to raise unrestricted support, providing much needed flexibility to address ever-changing needs, we now offer the option to designate your Hun Fund gift, allowing you to support the area that means the most to you. ACADEMIC PROGRAMMING The individual mentorship and creative teaching efforts Hun's faculty and staff embrace provides our students with an experience unlike anywhere else. Support of this fund will help us continue to fund the School's innovation both in the classroom and beyond; allowing signature programs such as NextTerm; Equity, Inclusion, and Global Diversity; the Scholars Tracks; and the Learning Center to thrive. ARTS Every day on campus, students engage in arts elective courses. The Arts Department encourages students to develop their passion for music, drama, and visual arts through a variety of classes and extracurricular activities. Support of the Arts provides experiences for students that complement the classroom learning by planning visits to museums, concert halls, and theaters. Support of the Arts also helps the School produce full-scale theatrical, musical and dance productions each year.

ATHLETICS All Hun students have a place in the School's renowned athletics programs, and it is essential that our student-athletes have access to the equipment necessary to perform. Gifts designated to Athletics also help offset team travel costs and provide coaches with additional resources both on and off of the fields. FINANCIAL AID Support of financial aid will ensure that the School continues to be able to make its life-changing educational opportunities available to students without regard to their financial resources, allowing for a more diverse student body. UNRESTRICTED Direct your funds to be used toward the School’s greatest needs, allowing leadership to be nimble and responsive to ever-changing priorities/ circumstances. THE HUN PARENTS FUND The Hun Parents Fund impacts several areas of campus life, supporting Parents Association initiatives like Faculty Grants, Middle School jackets, ReVisit day welcome gifts, Prom transportation, Parents Weekend and other community events, faculty and staff appreciation events, participation in Princeton Common Ground, and more. We hope that all families participate in the Hun Parents Fund according to their means.

If you have questions or would like more information about the Hun Fund, please contact Director of the Hun Fund, Jennifer Harris, at (609) 921-7600, ext. 2385 or jenniferharris@hunschool.org.

CAPITAL AND ENDOWMENT SUPPORT Capital gifts help underwrite the building, renovation, and restoration of Hun facilities. Current capital projects include the Weiss Family STEM Center and the Breen Family Performing Arts Center. Gifts to the Endowment provide a permanent source of income for The Hun School, benefiting students for generations to come. Hun is committed to growing endowed resources, and seeks to increase funding available for areas such as financial aid and academic support. Hun’s endowment provided over $1,006,000 to the School’s operating budget in 2019-2020. Gifts to a capital project or the endowment can be paid over a period of time, up to five years.

PLANNED GIVING You can support Hun through your will, a trust, or as a beneficiary of a life insurance or retirement plan. These types of gifts can offer tax benefits and help secure the future of the School. Donors who have included Hun in their estate planning are recognized as members of the School’s John Gale Hun Society.

RECOGNITION SOCIETIES RUSSELL LOYALTY CIRCLE Hun recognizes it's most loyal donors with consecutive years of giving through gifts of any amount to all areas of the School through the Russell Loyalty Circle. We begin honoring donors who give two consecutive fiscal years (July 1 - June 30) and continue to celebrate those who reach new milestones each year. We thank loyal Raiders for their steadfast support and dedication. RED AND BLACK SOCIETY Gifts of $1,914 or more to The Hun Fund are considered leadership gifts. Members of the Red and Black Society are recognized at the following levels: $100,000+ $50,000 – $99,999 $25,000 – $49,999 $10,000 – $24,999 $5,000 – $9,999 $2,500 – $4,999 $1,914 – $2,499

As an independent school and non-profit organization, The Hun School does not receive government funding. Tuition and fees provide almost 90% of Hun’s operating budget. The School relies on the Hun Fund and the Endowment to bridge the gap between tuition revenue and operating expenses in order to continue to enhance the Hun student experience.

How to Give OUTRIGHT GIFTS Outright gifts can be made by cash, check, credit card, PayPal, GiveCampus’ Apple Pay, wiring funds, and/or the transfer of appreciated securities. Online gifts can be made through the School’s secure website at www.hunschool.org/giving/make-a-gift-now RECURRING GIFTS Rather than making an outright gift, you may prefer to establish a recurring gift for a specific period of time: for example, a $150/month gift made on the 15th of each month from July – June. To establish a recurring gift, please visit www.hunschool.org/giving/make-a-gift-now MATCHING GIFTS Many companies will match gifts made to the School by their employees. This is a great and easy way to double or even triple your gift with a corporate match. To find out if your company has a matching gift program, please contact your HR department OR visit www.hunschool.org/giving/ways-to-give
