The Huron Business Development Corporation is pleased to provide a new monthly e-newsletter that will feature the many learning and training opportunities available right here in Huron County. There is wide variety of training options being provided locally. This new e-newsletter, Learning in Huron County, will strive to share this important information with adult learners, training providers, community organizations, and businesses. Lake Huron Learning Collaborative (LHLC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable and accessible in-class training in Huron and Bruce counties. Since 2004, LHLC has formed partnerships with local teachers and educational institutions to offer a variety of post-secondary, professional development and interest courses at its centres in Goderich and Kincardine. HealthKick Huron, in partnership with Georgian College, coordinates the local delivery of healthcare related education and training programs. Seaforth is the main site for local training; however, additional sites include Zurich and Wingham. The Emergency Services Training Centre (ESTC) in Blyth, Ontario has become a model for fire, emergency response and corporate training in Ontario. The ESTC is an excellent facility providing firefighter and emergency responder training for municipalities and companies. Register now for upcoming full-time September programs! The full-time Early Childhood Education program is set to start September 2015 at REACH Huron. Help young children develop skills that stay with them for life! This program blends theory with hands-on application of theoretical principles delivered through course work and field practicum. Students in this program will develop their knowledge and professional skills in areas such as child development and best practices in early childhood; the early childhood educator's role and responsibilities; the importance of play in children's learning; family involvement and curriculum design and implementation.
