Fanshawe site in Goderich opening soon Fanshawe College recently announced the establishment of a new site in downtown Goderich which will open officially on March 30, 2016. This new location will provide Fanshawe the opportunity to offer a selection of post-secondary courses in a prominent setting in the community. Most significantly, Fanshawe will introduce a two-year Business - Entrepreneurship and Management diploma program at the site beginning in September 2016 (See page 2 for more information about the program). Special evening with Fanshawe Fanshawe College is presenting a special evening with guest speaker John Baker,

founder and CEO of D2L Corporation on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Livery Theatre located at 35 South Street, Goderich. Doors open at 6:30 pm. The event starts at 7:00 that evening, and the event is free to attend, but space is limited. Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact Andrew Gunn (agunn@ fanshawec.ca) by March 18 to register for this event. Support the growth of Fanshawe College in Huron County Business owners and individuals can support the development of post-secondary education in the community by establishing scholarships and bursaries for students, or by providing funds to assist with the purchasing of new educational technologies. Arabic crash course info session

A timely learning opportunity for community and sponsorship groups will be available soon. 'Religion & Cultural Overview | Arabic Crash Course' will be offered by Muslim Social Services Kitchener - Waterloo in the near future. An information session at Knox Presbyterian Church, Goderich is scheduled for Saturday, March 26. Times are being finalized and registration details will be sent out soon. Emergency Services Training Centre upcoming courses Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Course Dates: May 14 & 15, 2016 Cost: based on certification required - see below (lunch not included). Dependent on what you need, attendance is listed below: A) CPR only - January 28 or March 8 only 9:00am - 3:00pm: $69.00 + tax B) Emergency First Aid and C CPR - January 28 or March 8- all day: $99.00 + tax C) Standard First Aid & C CPR- all day both days: $129 + tax D) HCP CPR (added half hour training to above): $25.00 + tax This course is a comprehensive two day course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. each for Success is an employability through work experience program, funded by the Federal Government Skills Link Program, to help youth overcome barriers to employment.

Who Is Eligible? Youth can access Reach for Success if they are:  Between 15 and 30 years of age;  Out of school and in need of assistance to gain workplace skills and experience;  Legally entitled to work in Canada.

What Are The Benefits To Youth?  30 hour per week 4 week paid Group Employability Skills workshop series;  24 hour per week 8 week paid job placement with a local employer;  Participants will be paid the equivalent to the Ontario Minimum wage;  Develop life skills, employability skills, job search skills, career decision making abilities and job maintenance skills;  Opportunity to obtain the following certification: First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling, WHMIS, Smart Serve. Community Food Advisors needed The Community Food Advisors (CFAs) are a group of trained volunteers who work with health unit staff and community partners to promote healthy eating and food safety to consumers in Huron County. Community Food Advisors can provide presentations, classes, and displays about: • • • • • • • •

Canada’s Food Guide Food safety Healthy eating on a budget Quick and easy meals Menu planning Healthy cooking basics Healthy snacks and lunches Understanding food labels

Huron & Bruce Safe T Training offers up-to-date training courses Huron and Bruce Safe T Training is an occupational health and safety training center offering up-to-date training courses to help employers meet their legislation requirements. Currently they're offering public courses for MOL approved Working at Heights Construction, Safe Operation of Lift Trucks and WHMIS 2015. Private courses for Confined Space, Working at Heights, Forklift, Hoisting and Rigging are offered and much more. Are you in compliance with the new WHMIS 2015 legislation? Did you know that on February 11, 2015 Canada aligned WHMIS with GHS (Globally Harmonized System)? A multi-year transition plan was announced from now until May 31,2017 allowing suppliers to use either WHMIS 1988 (old system) or WHMIS 2015 (new system).
