Hurst Publishers

Hurst is an independently owned non-fiction publisher trading since 1969, specialising in books on global affairs, particularly religion, conflict, international relations and area studies in Europe, Africa and South Asia. We now publish around 80 books a year. Hurst’s output has always been co-published in the United States with a range of notable university presses and our books remain subject to rigorous peer review procedures. In recent years Hurst has co-published many books with Columbia University Press, while in spring 2013 Oxford University Press, New York, became the sole US co-publisher for the Hurst list, meaning that our books where the OUP livery in the Americas, subject to peer review and delegate approval. Many of our books are co-published simultaneously in other parts of the world, e.g. in South Asia, Southern and Eastern Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia.
