SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Hydraulic circuit

Caution! The hydraulic circuit is under high pressure. Maximum pressure at work: 200 bar / 2900Psi.

Before connecting hoses to the tractor hydraulics, ensure that tractor and machine circuits are not under pressure. Before disconnecting a hose, depressurize the hydraulic circuit.

To avoid making incorrect connections, mark hydraulic couplers and corresponding hoses with colours. WARNING! Functions could be reversed (for example: lift/lower) and cause accidents.

Regularly check the hydraulic hoses. In case of normal wear, replace the hydraulic hoses every 5 years. Damaged or worn hoses must immediately be replaced. When replacing the hydraulic hoses, only use hoses with the specification recommended by the manufacturer of the machine.

To locate a leak, use appropriate means. Protect body and hands from liquid under pressure.

Any liquid under pressure (particularly oil from hydraulics) can penetrate the skin and cause severe injury. If injured, see a doctor immediately, there could be danger of infection. Before any adjustments, maintenance or repairs are carried out, lower the machine to the ground, depressurize the hydraulics, turn off the engine, remove ignition key and wait until all moving parts have come to a complete stop.

Remote controlled components

Danger of crushing and shearing can exist when components are operated by hydraulic or pneumatic controls. Keep away from these danger zones.

Waste disposal

Respect the environment! Never spill pollutants (oil, grease, filters, etc.) on the ground, never pour them down the drain and never discard them in any other place where they could pollute the environment. Always take waste to specialized recycling or waste disposal centres.

9

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Precautions to take before using the control box

Place the control box so that it cannot interfere with other tractor controls and be activated inadvertently.

Before switching the control box on, check that nobody is within the machine pivoting area: switching on the control box can activate functions on the machine.

Boom handling

Prior to handling the booms, check that overhead power lines are at a safe distance.

If the machine comes into contact with a power line:

Immediately stop the tractor, turn off the engine and apply park brake.

If possible, jump off the tractor without touching the power lines.

Immediately ask for the power line to be shut off.

Never touch the machine until the power lines have been disconnected from the power source.

Warn any person not to touch the machine.

Precautions for maintenance and repair work

Before leaving the tractor or before adjusting, maintaining, or repairing the machine, disengage the PTO drive, turn off the engine, remove ignition key and wait until all moving parts have come to a complete stop and apply park brake.

Make sure that the parts of the machine that need to be lifted for maintenance or repair work are firmly propped up.

Before any work is done on the electric circuit or before any electric welding is carried out on the attached machine, disconnect the machine from the tractor electrical circuit. Also disconnect alternator and battery terminals.

Repairs on elements under pressure or tension (springs, pressure accumulators, etc.) must only be carried out by competent persons with regulation equipment.

Wear the appropriate protective clothing for the work in hand (gloves, shoes, goggles, helmet, ear defenders, etc.).

Do not solder, weld, or use a blow torch near fluids under pressure or inflammable products.

For your own safety and for correct machine operation, only use original manufacturer parts.

It is strongly recommended to have your machine checked by your HUSTLER dealer after each season.

10

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Toxic substances

Always have a first-aid kit within reach.

Avoid all skin, eyes, and mouth contact with products such as fuels, oils, solvents, antifreeze, and cleaning products. Most of them contain harmful substances.

In case of an incident, seek medical advice.

Follow to the letter all instructions given on the safety decals of toxic substance containers.

Body protection

Do not wear loose clothing which could become caught up in moving parts.

Wear waterproof clothing whenever there is a risk of splashing from or contact with crop protection products, even in diluted form. Wear specific protective clothing (suit, gloves, boots, glasses, mask) when handling phytosanitary products).

Gloves

Wear gloves resisting to the various components contained in the products (ultra-nitrile gloves). Neoprene gloves are required in the presence of ketone in the formulations.

Strictly avoid certain materials such as latex or PVC. A watertightness indicator is insufficient.

Replace gloves as soon as they present signs of wear. Store the gloves in a place well away from the products.

Protection suits

Use special protection suits resistant to the products. Use preferably disposable coveralls.

Masks

Anti-dust masks do not protect sufficiently against phytosanitary products.

Wear a respiratory protection when preparing the spray mixture or spraying certain products.

Check that the respiratory protections are fitted with filters.

11

MAINTENANCE

Sprayer protection against freezing

Never spray or spread an antifreeze agent on the environment.

MIN.

Cornet Pump Oli Replacement:

1. This step is recommended, but not essential: With at least 50 Litres of water in the main spray tank, and the master valve (where applicable) on Bypass, spin the pump for 3 – 5 minutes to stir up the old oil.

2. Drain the water, remove the suction hose and pressure hose from the pump by spinning off the fitting flynuts. Remove the PTO shaft

3. Unbolt the pump from the chassis (4x bolts) and sit the pump on a bench.

4. Remove the cap from the clear plastic reservoir and invert the pump to drain out all of the old oil into a suitable container.

5. Refill the pump to the Level line with the correct grade of oil (see below) and refit the reservoir cap. Slowly roll the pump around at different angles to ensure all trapped air rises into the reservoir. Top up the oil to the Level line if necessary.

6. Refitting the pump is the reverse procedure of removal. When reattaching the hose fittings, ensure that the o-rings stay in their groove. Flynuts need to be just a bit more than had-tight.

7. The pump can be put straight back into service, but after the first tankful of spray has been applied, recheck the pump oil level and top up if necessary.

15

OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

BRAVO 180 QUICKSTART GUIDE

How to set a Rate in the pre-sets.

Press and hold ‘OK’.

In the user menu, the first option will be ‘Job Setup’. Press ‘OK’ once selected.

You have 10 rate pre-set options, the first 2-3 jobs will be set from factory (by us). If you want to edit them or enter a new one, scroll with the up and down arrows to the one you want to edit, or until you’ve found a job that’s ‘Disabled’; press ‘OK’.

Then with the up & down and sideways arrows, set the desired rate. Once done, press ‘OK’. This confirms the rate to that job number. (Please note this does not set a rate for the paddock you’re about to spray, this is setting the pre-sets.)

Once done, press ‘ESC’ a few times to take you back to the home screen.

How to enter a Rate to begin spraying.

Press and hold ‘Rate’.

Once selected, scroll through the pre-set rate options until you’ve found the desired rate. (Note: if you can’t find the rate you want, refer to above instructions to enter the required rate in the Presets)

Press ‘OK’ when done. The Auto-rate system will now aim for your chosen target rate.

Ensure the Auto button (when pressed) brings up an ‘A’ on the screen; if it’s showing ‘M’, this is the manual setting.

Engage PTO.

Turn on section switches and master valve and begin spraying (the unit may beep a few times; this is normal until you have reached a speed where the unit can auto-rate for you.)

Note: To delete any previously recorded data associated with the job/rate you’ve selected, i.e. the area and quantity sprayed etc. perform Step 1 & 2 above, then before pressing ‘OK’ on step 3, press and hold the up and down arrows simultaneously until it pops up and says ‘Job Reset?’, then press ‘OK’. All info associated with that job has been cleared. Continue with step 3,4,5 and 6.

How to reset the tank level.

When the computer is first turned on, the default screen is always on speed (0.0 km/h).

Scrolling with the up & down arrows will change from ‘Speed’ to other important options you can view when spraying e.g. liters per minute through the flowmeter, area applied, total distance travelled*, time spent spraying, and tank level. (You can leave this on whichever of the above you wish for the duration of the job but when powered off and on again it will always default back to speed on the home screen).

Scroll through these options until you find ‘Tank level’.

Press and hold the up and down arrows simultaneously until it flashes up with the default tank level when full.

Pressing ‘OK’ will reset to full tank level (pre-set by the factory).

If you want to enter a partial tank level, repeat the above steps 1 to 4 and then you can alter the figure with the up & down and sideways arrows until actual amount in tank is entered. Press ‘OK’ and then ‘ESC’ back to home page.

*Note: ‘Distance’ recording is distance travelled with the master switch OFF, for measuring total kms travelled between paddocks and/or filling stations from the time of Rate reset.

How to reset all data associated with a job (Rate)

Press and hold ‘RATE’.

Select the rate you want to clear the data in.

Press the up & down arrows simultaneously.

It will pop up with ‘Job Reset?’

Press ‘OK’ and all info associated with that job (area, quantity etc) will be deleted.

Quick Reference & Troubleshooting

Increasing or decreasing the rate while spraying

While spraying in Auto, you can increase or decrease the rate in 10% steps by up to 50% by simply nudging the pressure toggle switch. The unit will flash up with the altered rate in % and L/ha.

To revert to your original rate, tap the ‘Rate’ button once, or use the toggle switch in the reverse direction.

OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

Machine beeping or flashing up with a U that’s half filled

This is letting you know that the tank level is getting low (the low tank level alarm is set at factory at approx. 10% of the tank volume).

Machine beeping and displaying ‘Accelerate!’ or ‘Slow down!’

The rate controller is trying to regulate to your desired rate but one of the following factors could be limiting it:

MixMax agitator may be set too high. Turn to full By-pass and re-try.

Ground speed too slow (you may need a set of smaller nozzles if it’s not practical to travel faster).

Ground speed too fast (you may need a set of larger nozzles if you can’t hit the rate you want).

Alternative to step 2 and 3 is to speed up or slow down so the current nozzles can deliver the rate.

Machine not regulating when spraying?

Turn everything off (including tractor) and open the rear window.

Turn on the computer and change from Auto to Manual.

Operate the increase/decrease pressure toggle switch (far righthand switch).

If you can hear the pressure regulator (valve with grey band) operating, all is well.

If no noise is coming from the pressure regulator, check loom and wiring to valve. Loom or valve may be faulty.

Check to see if light on flowmeter is flashing when spraying. If so, then is working ok. If not, unwind grey cap from flowmeter, pull internal sensor out and check to see if paddle spins freely and is not blocked. If still no light flashing, fit new flowmeter to isolate whether it’s the flowmeter or loom that is at fault.

How the rate controller works (simply)

The computer needs three components in order to rate-control.

A speed input

Boom width (this is entered by the factory)

Liters per minute being sprayed (flowmeter)

When spraying, the computer is combining all 3 metrics and regulating the flow to the boom to get the correct rate. If any of these have been altered or cables get damaged, this will result in an inaccurate spraying job. The most common is option 1 and 3. If lost, check cables to these inputs, clean plugs, and re- test. Check/clean flowmeter & the filter upstream of the flowmeter. Clean the nozzle filters.

Gun Spraying

Turn PTO to 300-350rpm (Max. 540rpm). Open the control tap that operates the hose reel. Screw pressure knob to suited pressure depending on you application. Spot spraying weeds, thistles etc. only requires low pressure, 5-8 (72-116psi) bar while gorse and large area spraying could require 15-18 (217-261psi) bar.

General spraying information

Ideal spraying conditions are when wind is low, temperature is low and humidity is relatively high. Refer to chemical specs for ideal times. The ideal boom height is 50cm off the ground or crop you’re spraying. This will give max coverage and correct overlap between nozzles.

Optimum pressure for boom spraying is 3-4Bar/30-50Psi

Flushing out the sprayer

Optional flush tank tap in spraying position

Fresh water tap in flushing position - sucking water from fresh water tank (green)

OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

ERGOMAX HOPPER

The ErgoMax allows you to induct chemicals easily & safely into the main tank.

The 3 x levers activate the three functions: Sluicing Nozzle, Container Rinse Nozzle and bottom mix nozzle.

There are two red ball valve taps in the ErgoMax system, the tap on the front of the sprayer marked ErgoMax needs to be turned to the mix position (Horizontal), this then supplies liquid to the induction hopper. There is another red ball valve tap on the base of the induction hopper, turn this to induct your chemical mix into the spray tank.

MIXMAX AGITATION

The MixMax agitates your tank from a jet in the base of your tank. This is adjusted by the red ball valve tap on the front of your sprayer. It is recommended that you agitate your spray mixture before starting spray job. You can have the sprayer agitating while out spraying, but this can affect your system pressure. If you need to keep agitating while spraying, we recommend no more than a 40% agitation. The red tap is a ball valve, this adjusts your agitation level 0%-100%. Having the tap horizontal would be 0% agitation, as you rotate the tap vertically, it will open the valve until you reach 100% agitation.

OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS 1 2

CALIBRATED RETURN TAPS

If your sprayer has the auto-rate system, set the controller to manual operation mode.

Close off all calibrated return taps(clockwise). Set agitator system to bypass (if fitted).

With at least 300 litres of water in the tank, set the PTO running at 400-540 RPM.

Switch on ALL boom sections, and using the toggle switch, adjust the pressure to 4.0Bar/58Psi.

Watch the pressure gauge, switch off number 1 section – the pressure will rise. Open the calibrated return tap on number 1 section to bring the pressure back down to 4.0Bar. Switch No.1 section back on and the pressure should remain at 4.0 Bar.

Repeat step number.5) for each remaining section valve

OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

JUG/APPLICATION RATE TEST

A jug test is performed to determine what rate(L/minute) the sprayer is delivering through its nozzles, this needs to match what is being displayed on your monitor (only applicable to auto rate sprayer). This is used to determine if your flow meter is reading correctly & helps with setting up your flow meter constant. You will work off the nozzle chart in this manual for this test. Use fresh water for this test

Example

If you have blue nozzles fitted, run the sprayer pressure at 3Bar. According to the nozzle chart, each nozzle should have a flowrate of 1.20L/Min.

Set your Bravo 180 to manual mode. With all your nozzles spraying (turn on all sections), use a measuring jug to measure the output of the nozzles for one minute. Take 4 x measurements from different nozzles throughout the length of the boom.

Average out these measurements. Add all 4 measurements together & divide by 4 to give you the average output from your nozzles.

Multiply your average by the number of nozzles on the boom. Check if this boom average matches the output being displayed on your Bravo/Raven unit.

If it matches, all is working as it should. If you have a variance of more than 5%, this could indicate your nozzles are worn. Replace nozzles, ensure nozzle filters are clean & there are no leaks on the boom. If you have done the above & there is still a large variance, then the flow meter constant can be altered.

The flow meter constant can be altered on the Bravo 180 through your advanced menu, see section 10 & 11.9 in the Arag Bravo 180S Operators manual.

The flow meter constant can be altered on an isobus IBX100 unit through the flowmeter menu under settings. See Section 11.2 in the IBX100 manual.

You will alter this number according to how much your displayed rate differs from the actual rate. Alter in small amounts, 5 units at a time & then check rate on main menu. Alter unit until you get a variance of less than 5%.

NOTE: All new sprayers are tested & setup at Hustler HQ before being shipped to dealers. You should not need to alter this constant under normal circumstances

*Make sure all filters are clean & nozzles are in good condition before preforming this test. Under normal circumstances. the flow meter constant should never need altering.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

Pump won’t prime:

• No liquid in tank.

• Suction filter blocked.

• Filter valve closed.

• Check all suction hoses (clear) for signs of air bubbles and trace to leakage.

• Control valve isn’t on bypass.

Pump won’t build pressure:

• Tractor RPM too low (should be 300-400RPM).

• Suction filter blocked.

• Change over ball valve turned to fresh water tank.

• Control valve on bypass.

• Sucking air at some point.

• Pressure gauge faulty.

• Diaphragms gone in pump- pump oil will go grey and bubbly.

• Pump capacity not sufficient to service nozzles.

Pump is noisy or pulses:

• Pump pressure chamber is too low- re-pressurize to similar pressure to spraying; pressure (only on pumps with accumulator fitted).

• An air lock in the suction lines, - open valves to bleed air out of system.

• Pump valves and o-rings worn.

• Valves in pump sticking from chemical residue build up or air lock in system - Alternate revs up and down between 3OO-6OOrpm to free sticky valves then set back to normal operating speed.

Auto Rate is Inaccurate:

• Is the flow meters light flashing while spraying? If not, the flow meter sensor or pickup paddle could be at fault.

• Possibly using incorrect nozzles for the application rate required. Check nozzle chart for reference.

MAINTENANCE LOG

This record is to stay with the instruction manual and be used as proof of upkeep should a claim be lodged. Hustler requires you to keep track of approx 12 monthly maintenance by having your service provider routinely fill out the log, or by keeping receipts of work done. Routine checks will save ongoing repair costs. Pre-season is the best time for this. Excluded items are wear parts and electric components.
