25th anniversary to remember 2015 was a busy year for Huws Gray as we celebrated our 25th anniversary. We’d like to thank all our customers for supporting our anniversary events, activities, anniversary raffle and for your continued support over the last 25 years. Huws Gray’s 25th anniversary year comes to an end with a bang as organisers confirm that the company has raised £120,847 for nominated children’s hospices located around the branch network in Wales, north-west England and the Midlands.

The huge amount raised by Huws Gray will help us support and care for seriously ill children and their families in 2016 and beyond.”

On the 6th of September, the Winsford team successfully completed the PARAS10 challenge raising over £500 for Hope House Children’s Hospices.
was certainly a challenging one and running with 35lbs was tough. We had a great time and the group thoroughly enjoyed it. We’re glad we can support this special cause.”
The Paras10 challenge is a tough experience where the team has to complete a 10 mile course in boots and carrying a 35lb pack around different obstacles. Among the team were Simon, Daniel, Dale, William, Bryan, Craig, Steve and John all from the Winsford branch.

Huws Gray staff take to the skies for children’s hospices unforgettable experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The most exhilarating part is when you’re in the plane looking down and ready to jump, there is no turning back once you’re out of the plane! Freefalling in the sky was an amazing experience, we’re glad we can support the fantastic work they do at the children’s hospices.” Between the fifteen participants they have raised over £6,000. Congratulations to all participants who completed the sky dive.

Sixteen brave Huws Gray employees recently took on a tandem sky dive at Whitchurch to raise essential funding for children’s hospices. After months of anticipation and build up to the event, two groups of employees took on the sky dive on the 19th and 26th of September. Among the first group were Colin, Thomas, Matthew, Paul, Gary, Steven and Karl from the Caernarfon

Stan’s the man in his Brand-New Van further two superb prizes. Lynn Roberts from Rhosmeirch on Anglesey won kitchen and bathroom vouchers to the value of £3,000, whilst Ian Johnson from Crosby on Merseyside received high street shopping vouchers to the value of £1,000. The raffle tickets cost a pound each and were sold at the company’s numerous anniversary events as well as at all branches, with all the proceeds going to the company’s nominated charities. On behalf of Huws Gray, Dafydd Hughes commented:
“We’d like to thank all our customers who supported our anniversary raffle. It was a great way of raising funds for children’s hospices and giving our loyal customers a good chance of getting their hands on some fantastic prizes.”

Dennis Roberts from Ty Croes on Anglesey might well be known as ‘Stan’ to all his friends and customers. However, since ex Arsenal and England professional football star Paul Merson drew his name out of the Huws Gray 25th Anniversary Raffle, Stan has also become known as the guy who won himself a brand-new Vauxhall Vivaro van! Mr. Roberts is a Building/ Groundworks and Demolition Contractor who is a regular customer at Huws Gray’s Gaerwen branch. He was delighted to hear
the news of his unexpected Christmas bonus, commenting:“I was totally shocked when I received the phone call telling me I’d won the van. Things like this just don’t happen to me! This new van will definitely help me with the day-to-day running of my business.”

Huws Gray has completed the purchase of Minera Building Supplies. Minera is the second acquisition in as many months for the Anglesey headquartered Builders Merchants following the acquisition of R W Almond’s last September. The acquisition of Minera Building Supplies which includes its ready-mixed operations will see Huws Gray opening its third site in the Wrexham area, further
strengthening their presence in North Wales. Dewi Morris (Huws Gray Director) welcomed the acquisition as he commented: “As a company, we are always looking for opportunities to extend our branch network and firmly believe that Minera Building Supplies is a perfect fit for us in terms of location and growth potential. Bringing Minera on board, alongside our existing locations in Rhostyllen and our brick distribution in Llay,

Final anniversary event a huge hit The auction raised almost £9,000 for Huws Gray’s nominated charities before the evening ended in style as comedian Gary Skyner filled the room with laughter.

Huws Gray marked its final 25th anniversary event of 2015 with a special charity fundraising evening at Tre-Ysgawen Hall on Anglesey which was supported by key suppliers, employees and charity representatives.
The fun-filled evening began with a 2 course meal and was followed by the drawing of the 25th anniversary raffle by special guest Paul Merson. Ian Johnson from Crosby on Merseyside won high street vouchers to the value of £1,000 whilst Lynn Roberts from Rhosmeirch on Anglesey received kitchen and bathroom vouchers valued at £3,000. prize of a brand-new Vauxhall Vivaro van was won by Dennis ‘Stan’ Roberts from Ty Croes on Anglesey. Following the draw, ex-Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and England legend Paul Merson entertained guests as he recalled his succesful and colourful professional football career which combined hilarity and honesty. Paul Merson was followed by a bumper charity auction featuring several fantastic items, such as a week-long stay at a luxury Lanzarote villa donated by Snowie Heritage Bricks, which prompted enthusiastic bidding from the tables.
Senior area fundraiser for Hope House Children’s Hospices, Eluned Yaxley said, “We’d like to thank Huws Gray for a fantastic evening, we thoroughly enjoyed being part of such a special event.
