The Consultative Institute for Socio-Economic Development of Rural and Mountainous Areas (CISDOMA) is a Non-Governmental Scientific and Technological Organization, established under Decision No 25/QD-TW issued on 22/5/2000 by the President of the Southeast Asian Research Association of Vietnam (SEARAV), with an updated Operation Permit No A135 issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology on 04/11/2015.


OUR VISION CISDOMA, as a creditable organization offering high quality services in implementation of and providing technical assistance to development actions, contributes towards building an equal society in which every person enjoys stable livelihood, and safe and healthy living environment.

OUR MISSION Co-operating with communities, state agencies, donors and non-governmental organizations through consulting, training and implementing development actions to enhance effectiveness of these activities, and facilitate solutions for sustainable development in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

INTERVENTIONS

CISDOMA has carried out a number of development projects, especially connected to grass-root level, researches and surveys on different social aspects such as sustainable agriculture, climate change and adaptive livelihoods, value chain analysis, and capacity building for ethnic minority communities. CISDOMA is the founder of the Civil Society for Food Security and Poverty Elimination Network (CIFPEN), and an active member of several networks both at regional and national levels including the Land Alliance (LANDA), Forest Land Coalition (FORLAND), Agro-ecology Learning Alliance in South East Asia (ALiSEA), etc. The institute actively engages in different policy forums on land governance, forest governance and rural development.


CISDOMA has implemented development projects in 9 provinces across the country including Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Vinh Long, Can Tho and Soc Trang on the subjects of: + Climate adaptive livelihoods, and business development for small farmers + Land rights of women and Land governance + Community education CISDOMA has providing technical services (survey/ research, assessment and evaluation, capacity building, technical supervision) to various development partners in Vietnam and Laos PDR, including Asian Development Bank, World Bank, GIZ, KWf, Oxfam, Plan, Care, etc., in different subjects including: + Climate change adaptive measurements and disaster risk reduction + Sustainable environment protection + Food safety and nutrition + Strategic programme/project development, project cycle management + Right based and participatory approaches in development

OUR TEAM Truong Quoc Can Director

Mr. Truong Quoc Can obtained a Master degree from the University of the Philippines – UPLB in 2003. He has more than 20 years of working experience in different environments, including government research institutions, INGOs, and local NGOs in Asian countries such as the Philippines, Laos, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Mr. Truong Quoc Can possesses a very strong expertise in training and research on a variety of technical and social aspects relating to Rural Development, Sustainable Agriculture, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Seed Technology, Poverty Analysis, Public Services, and Education. Mr. Can also has intensive experience in leading/facilitating processes of building (mid-long term) program strategies, and organizational development for a number of non-profit organisations and social development networks. Mr. Can has for years deeply engaged with government agencies in policy analysis and policy -making processes in a wide spectrum of development sectors such as food security, education, poverty reduction, climate change, and natural resources management at national and international levels, and has gained significant achievements on policy advocacy with proven track records.


Full time staff: A handy team with solid background and practical experience in implementing development programmes and coordinating/delivery of technical assistant services. Field collaborators: Dedicated teams of field collaborators in different provinces including Lai Chau, Hoa Binh, Ha Tinh and Soc Trang. Regular technical collaborators: More than 30 senior experts, social activists, and social practitioners, most of them are PhD holders in the fields of agriculture and rural development, forestry, environment, gender, climate change, governance, food and nutrition, participatory and right based approach, who have many years of working experience in different senior management positions in both public and development sectors. Volunteers and interns: Young and dynamic graduates with strong motivation for development works.
