Opening Story
There was a farmer with an apple tree orchard. The farmer wanted to harvest more fruits faster, so he sprayed more pesticides than usual and fed it excessive amounts of nutrients. He also gave it more water than the usual amount.
The farmer eagerly looked forward to it, thinking “this will produce a load of big apples.” However, a month after, the farmer went to the orchard and dropped down to the ground in shock. The trees in the orchard were all withered and dead. The desire to produce many fruits was enough to overflow the orchard with water and nutrients, which caused the apple trees to die.

The image of this farmer is also in line with the greed of human society today. While enjoying an unprecedented abundance of materials, excessive greed is destroying the environment on one side and destroying the order of nature on the other.

In nature, order is hidden. Scientific laws such as the law of multiple proportions, in which elements combine at different rates to produce various substances, or the law of gravitation, discovered by Newton, reveal that invisible order exists within nature. If you look at the genes of living beings like animals and plants, they have different kinds of DNA. DNA produces the characteristics of species and objects with its own sequence of bases. A slight alteration in the structure of DNA can result in death or for a life to be born in defect. In this seemingly invisible order, all nature operates in harmony and in balance.
Man is part of Mother Nature, and natural order is not artificially created
by man. For thousands of years, mankind has discovered natural order in various fields such as astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics, and has compiled them into laws and rules. The order of nature is closely related to survival and protection, and there is no order for destruction or annihilation. Therefore, order is related to peace. Human beings have utilized order that they have discovered through science until now in various fields such as music, art, architecture, and technology. However, if we apply and utilize these orders for peace and the coexistence of humanity from this point forward, we will undoubtedly be able to create a world of peace.
1. The order of the solar system
Since ancient times, humanity has researched the relationship between the sun, moon, and earth. Through this, different calendars have been created for civilization. We also learned that the change in seasons and differences between tides are caused by the sun and the moon. The earth revolves around the sun and the moon revolves around the earth. The earth’s rotation cycle is constant at 365 days, 5 hours, and 49 minutes. The year is set at 365 days and the remaining 5 hours and 49 minutes add up to make a day every four years, thus, making the leap year (February 29). (* The Gregorian calendar now has 97 leap years in 400 years). The earth’s orbiting speed is as high as an estimate of 108,000 km/h. This is 1,080 times faster than a car going at a speed of 100 km/h and 30 times faster than a bullet that travels 1km/s. It is like we are traveling through space on
earth that travels 30 times more than a bullet. It’s difficult for even trains to arrive exactly on time at their destination, but it is truly amazing that the earth, which travels through the vast universes, orbits the sun every year without even a change in a minute.
2. Geometrical shape and orbit of galaxies
The scale of the universe is immeasurable. So far, there are about 200 to 400 billion stars in our galaxy. Also, according to the research thesis that was published on [Nature] in 2016, there is an estimate of about 2 trillion galaxies in the universe. The shapes of galaxies in this expansive universe are mostly elliptical and spiral-like geometries. There are often many black holes that exists in the center of the galaxy and it is believed that the entire galaxy orbits around the center of the galaxy. The solar system also orbits the center of the Milky Way at about 223 million years’ intervals. When taking into consideration the age of the solar system, it has been orbited about 25 times.

That is why astrophysicists claim that the universe seems to be chaotic, but the more the secrets of the universe are unraveled, the more orderly the universe (cosmos) is.
3. Fibonacci sequence
Fibonacci numbers, which were discovered by Leonardo Fibonacci, are very useful in explaining the hidden order of nature. The Fibonacci count is adding the previous number to the next number as shown below.
If a number refers to a one-dimensional length, then a square number is a two-dimensional area. The square number of the Fibonacci sequence is as follows.
If you put together the number of squares (area), you can see the following picture. If a block is continually made in this pattern, the ratio of horizontal to vertical is close to 1.618. This number is the golden ratio that is mainly used in cards, paper, photography, and architecture.
The Fibonacci sequence can be observed mainly in nature, including the arrangement of branches, number of petals, the sequence of leaves from the stems of plants, and the sequence of seeds of sunflowers or pine cones. Furthermore, conches and the shell of snails are arranged in the image of a Fibonacci spiral.

The Order of Humanity for Peace and Coexistence
If the order of all things in nature is the power to maintain the diversity of the natural world, and to achieve harmony and coexistence, then the order of humanity becomes the driving force to overcome greed and create peace. When the public order is broken, conflicts and disputes arise. Society can become increasingly chaotic, unable to protect safety, and lives can even be threatened.
Humanity needs order to protect and coexist with one another if communities are to exist. The order of humanity is necessary in all relationships, from individuals to families, schools, workplaces, residential communities, countries and the international society. Let’s find out what order humanity needs in order to create a peaceful world.
1. The Order of Family: The Duty to Care for and Protect Each Other
Every individual begins their life in their mother’s womb. After an individual is born, they first meet their parents and then grow up to have a circle of family composed of siblings, relatives, couples, and children. Family is the most basic unit of community in society and order exists within it. Therefore, familial order is the first education an individual learns from birth and it is a crucial education that can determine a person’s life.
The Chinese characters began with ancient pictographs and have evolved to the Chinese of today. Consequently, there are many characters that can infer meaning from the shape of the character itself. The Chinese characters are shown below to characterize the family’s role.
Father fù(父) A hand holding an axe symbolizing the authority to support his family by hunting.
Mother mǔ(母) A symbol of breastfeeding and raising a child
Son zi(子) Originally signifies a baby, but later used to mean son
Brother dì(弟) Shape of thread wrapped around a spool in order, indicating “next order” which is younger brother
In the Confucius cultural sphere (East Asian region), this has been taught about family order.
“Parents must be a model for their children.” (父爲子綱)
“A husband must be a model for his wife.” (夫爲婦綱)
“Intimacy should exist between parents and child” (父子有親)
“The younger should give precedence to the elder.” (長幼有序)
In the Bible, which is the root of Christian culture, this is how family order has been taught.
“Honor your father and your mother”(Ex 20:12)
“Each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”(Eph 5:33)
“Learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents.” (Tim 5:4)
In the Quran, which is the root of the Islamic culture, this has been taught about family order.
“Be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honor” (17:23)
“And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small." (17:24)
All children received life from their parents. Especially when a person is young, they can only grow if they are cared for. Therefore, children should always be grateful to their parents, and should obey them because they are educated by them, and become social through that education. The role of husband and wife differ from era to culture, but there must be a proper division of roles within a loving and respectful relationship. Furthermore, if there is an elder in the family, the descendants should be courteous and respectful towards the elders. The most basic order of education for a person begins in a childhood family. The family’s education of order is the basis for understanding and upholding the order of the community, country, and international society.
2. Order of the Community and the State : Duty to Protect the People and Uphold the Law
The law is the most fundamental way of maintaining the order of the community and the state. Today, there are constitutional and subordinate laws in each country. Law-enforcement bodies include the legislature that enacts the law, the administration that enforces the law and the judiciary that enacts the law. There are central government and local organizations within the country, and they communicate closely with each other to maintain the order of the state. There is a head of state (president, prime minister, etc.) , and there is a head of the local government and they work in compliance with the laws of the country. A leader must guard and protect the citizens with love for the country and the citizens, and should carry out politics in a way that reflects the opinions of the people. The citizens should abide by the state’s laws, keep order, and cooperate in various ways
so that the leader can carry out the proper politics. Both the leaders and the citizens should protect peace and strive to create a safe and prosperous country.

3. The Order of the International Society: Responsibility for the Safety of the Human World
Where was the greatest collapse of the order of the human world? It is not the order of a family nor the order of a nation, but the order of the international society. Since the Second World War, the whole world has felt the need for order in the international community. The United Nations (UN) is the international organization that was established on October 24, 1945. As of 2019, the United Nations has a member of 193 countries. Under the United Nations, there are organizations such as the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the International Court of Justice and the Secretariat.
UN Charter Article 1 The Purpose of the UN is as Follows:
1. To maintain international peace and security and measures to combat threats to peace, to eliminate and to destroy aggression or other destruction of peace, and to cooperate with international peace and security. The resolution shall be realized by peaceful means and in accordance with the principles of justice and international law.
If we define the purpose of the UN in a few words, it is ‘order and peace.’ However, after the foundation of the United Nations, there is constant war and conflict in various parts of the world, such as the Korean War, the Middle East War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraq War, Syrian War and Afghanistan War. To achieve complete and lasting peace in the human world, it is necessary to strengthen the role of the United Nations and establish a more robust international order.

How Will Peace be Achieved?
Out of the 3,400 years of recorded history, only 268 years (about 8%) remained peaceful. There is no way to confirm events that have not been recorded in history, so it would be no exaggeration to say that the war has never existed in human history before. Since the Second World War, there have been wars, big and small, and the number of war refugees exceeds 71.4 million. (See UNHCR data)
Many young people still lose their lives in battle without ever blossoming. The life of a person can not be compensated by any substance or money. That is because the dead cannot be saved. No matter how many riches you have, if you lose your life tonight, you will not be able to use them. Just as your life is precious to you, others value their own life. Then, peace for all must be achieved and wars must end. How then will peace be achieved? How can peace be achieved?
1. Answer to Peace: Restoring the Order of the Human World with Heavenly Culture
What is the answer to peace? It is the restoration of the order of the human world. If so, which country and which cultural order should it be based on? On this earth, each country has its own culture. In the past, powerful nations such as Britain and Spain governed other countries with their own culture but did not achieve a peaceful world. No country in the history of mankind has ever achieved world peace through its own culture.
Then what culture is needed? It is heavenly culture. Heavenly Culture refers to the harmony of all things. The order of all things seen above can be described as heavenly culture. Everything in heaven and earth recognizes diversity and coexist harmoniously. All creatures have their own unique values, fulfilling each other’s needs, fulfilling their roles and obligations. All these things, whether seen or unseen, are kept in order and invisible. Human beings can achieve peace if they restore the order of the world of mankind by using heavenly culture.
2. The Process of Restoration of Order in the Human World
When the seed of peace grows, it becomes a tree of peace and bears fruit of peace. There is a seed inside the fruit of peace, and with this peace is spread. This is the process of achieving peace. On the other hand, when the seed of conflict grows, it becomes the tree of conflict and bears fruit of conflict. Just as apple trees cannot bear grapes, the fruit of peace cannot be borne where the seed of conflict is sown. Therefore, we must sow the seed of peace in order to achieve peace.
The seed of peace is the character of peace, and the fundamental characteristic of peace is love. What we will learn from chapters 5 to 12 will be about the character of peace that we must restore. Having characteristics of peace based on love includes gratitude for the grace received, consideration for the benefit of others, sacrifice without expecting anything in return, tolerance and forgiveness for others, respect for elders, and effort to preserve ancestral heritage. Those who have these characteristics of peace are those who have been transformed by the culture of heaven. This is the mentality that overcomes both evil and human desires with what is good.
A citizen of peace is a person whose inner self has been changed by the characteristics of peace. Citizens of peace have the ability to solve all problems in a peaceful way. They also call for peace to the leaders of each country to resolve war and conflict. Leaders of each and every nation should not ignore the demands of the people if they truly love their people and nation. Citizens of peace do not sit still and wait for peace
to be fulfilled, but stand and practice peace through various activities. They become messengers of peace and spread the culture of peace to their communities. They educate future generations on the culture of peace, and leave this culture as an inheritance.
3. Can peace really be achieved?
Can we really achieve world peace, something that has never been achieved in human history? There were a few people who did not want peace, but were too busy filling their greed. When they had power, they declared war and sent young, patriotic men to the battlefields all in the name of national interest. People who opposed war and those who voiced peace were branded as non-patriots. Is it really patriotism to drag many young people to the battlefields, and to their deaths? Young adults lose their lives and flesh to war. Parents who have lost their children are deepened with sadness. Who are the beneficiaries of war? It says there are no winners or losers in war. No matter how wealthy and capable you are, those things hold no meaning if you lose your life.
Tree of Peace Tree of ConflictSome people may think that war has nothing to do with them. However, there are already thousands of nuclear weapons that can destroy the world many times over in the present world. Weapons are made for the purpose of harming people from the moment they are created, and made to be used. We cannot prevent the use of nuclear weapons if we are not careful with the naive idea that these weapons will never be used. As we have seen through World War II, the human world may perish in a moment if there is a World War III. For ourselves and the future generations, peace is a necessity, not an option. Peace isn’t a story of others, but it must be my own work.
If you ask, “do you want war or do you want peace?” everyone will answer that they want peace. No one wants either themselves or their families to be sacrificed in the battlefields of war. Peace is not impossible because everyone wants peace.
Achieving world peace is the way to love the world and all the people, like the light, rain, and air of the heavens. This is true politics and true religion; this is true love and peace. Man Hee Lee (Republic of Korea of HWPL, 1931-present)

The Restoration of Order and Relation in the Human World Conclusion
In order to achieve peace, the order of the human world must be restored. In the history of mankind, peace has not been achieved with power or the culture of nations. There are wars and conflicts now to prove this. Then, what is the answer to peace? The answer to the restoration of the order of the human world is heavenly culture. Heavenly culture is harmonious and is the order that needs to be learned by all mankind. We cannot achieve peace with force that has no order or discipline. The first step toward achieving peace is to plant the seed of peace in the heart of one person. The seed of peace
refers to the character of peace based on love. A person who has been transformed with the characteristics of peace is called a citizen of peace. Citizens of peace can bring peace to their countries and communities and restore the world to peace. Peace education is an important education to plant seeds of peace and to make citizens of peace. Peace education is one of the practical ways to achieve world peace.
There are people who do not realize the importance of peace. However, there are none who oppose peace. Therefore, peace will be achieved. When will peace be achieved? It is now. In this generation, war must be stopped and peace needs to be achieved. We cannot leave war to the future generations. No work is more precious and valuable than to achieve peace, and to give the future generations peace as an inheritance.
