HWPL Chairman
A Korean War veteran who experienced the ravages of war up close, HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee founded the group to build a world of peace that may live on as a legacy for future generations. Chairman Lee has continuously built relations and partnerships with leaders of governments, faiths and civil society through many peace tours, expanding a global network for devising concrete measures for peace based on the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW). At the same time, his work has garnered response and concerted efforts for the reunification of the Korean Peninsula. Meanwhile, also a leader of a Christian church in South Korea, Chairman Lee Man-hee keeps HWPL an NGO independent from his church.
International Law for Peace
Through the collaboration of world-renowned international law experts, HWPL drafted and announced 10 articles and 38 clauses of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW). The Declaration aims to restore and uphold the spirit which gave birth to the United Nations and promote the universal value of the global community, which will lead to the realization of sustainable peace. The DPCW embodies the principles and measures to prevent and resolve conflicts and sustain a peaceful global society. A global campaign to support the DPCW, titled Legislate Peace, took place in 176 countries around the globe. The campaign, also called LP Project in short, is broadening the scale and scope of global support for the Declaration. Based on such international support, HWPL is set to submit the DPCW as a draft resolution to the UN General Assembly. Such efforts are expected to help peace become anchored as a common value across the global community.

It has been provided to schools and educational institutions around the world. This curriculum has been provided to educational institutions across the globe and is consistently training and appointing teachers as “peace educators” so to be a sustainable practice within the institutions.
HWPL designated 379 schools across various countries– India, USA, Philippines, and more – as an HWPL Peace Academy, and signed MOAs with the ministries of education in 12 countries –Guatemala, Ethiopia, and more. Each country is preparing to bring the implementation of peace education to the government’s attention.
