From the Executive Director... It feels as if, suddenly I blinked and; a decade of our lives working at the

Hyattsville Community Development Corporation flashed by at warp speed. A decade filled with so much physical, economic, and community revitalization in the life of Hyattsville and our neighbors: despite some of the most challenging financial and economic times seen in our lifetimes. So many changes, so many new opportunities, challenges and evolving commitments. But that illusion of time dilation passes as my mind catches up to my emotional reactions. Building a team (Board and Staff) whose work is effective, whose impact is widespread, and whose mission stays focused is a grinding, repetitive task. Yet as a team and a group we are not tired: in fact, we’re stimulated and refreshed by greater possibilities for our City, our neighbors, and our County. Recently, an expert market analyst observed to the County Council that the successes of Hyattsville and the Arts District communities was difficult to explain based upon the data his team had developed. He attributed this to local driving forces focused on overcoming market obstacles. Developing and maintaining a network of community revitalizers: those businesses, artists, leaders, and volunteers who overcome market obstacles and leave a better community in their wake is what community development work is about; and our community now abounds with this talent, this mindset of progress and interconnectedness. You can feel it in the schools, through the PTA’s. You can see ambitious, even visionary leadership in so many places now. In businesses, in galleries, and in City Hall. It is an exciting time to work in Hyattsville, and with our inner beltway neighbors and officials to achieve economic development and sustainability in this corner of Prince George’s County. Best Regards,
Stuart Eisenberg Executive Director
