Cork City Libraries’ Summer 2016 Reading Challenge for kids.
To mark the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising, the theme of this year’s challenge was ‘Rise Up And Read’. Children received a stamp in their ‘Rise Up And Read’ booklet for every book they completed over the summer, and would earn some great rewards along they way to encourage them.
I was tasked with creating the reading challenge booklet, as well as the associated promotional materials. I developed a narrative based on the Children’s Library mascot – a bird named Red – travelling back in time to meet a motley squadron of birds engaged in a desperate battle for survival!
