THE style guide

New Year - New gym gear... It is well known that January is the time of year when gym memberships soar, and of course you want to look good, and feel comfortable when working out.

January is the time for new beginnings, or setting goals for the year ahead. With the pandemic still lingering in the air, like the unwelcomed smell of sweaty trainers - it’s been hard to plan anything. Taking up a gym membership is a big commitment, but signing up for 12 months is probably a good way of encouraging yourself to keep going, even when the New Year is a distant memory. Telford & Wrekin Council have some great offers on Aspirations memberships, which allow you to use one of the number of leisure facilities across the borough, so it is worth taking a look.

Find the right gym wear...

It is important that you find the right gym clothes, to ensure you are comfortable and cool, whilst working up a sweat. Here are a couple of great options for a trip to the gym, which are comfy and affordable. I love these Grey and White Print Activewear Leggings - £16.99 from TK Maxx and this grey Souluxe Sportswear set (right) from Matalan.

GYM ESSENTIALS

There are a few essentials to remember to make your gym experience a pleasant one. Here are some must haves to invest in: Suitable gym wear A decent pair of trainers A sturdy gym bag (Above: Tan Canvas Gym Bag TK MAXX - £44.99) A pair of earbuds/earphones A good size water bottle

LEISURE WEAR

These cool beige earthcolors by Archroma, at Primark are available for men and ladies. The comfortable sweat pants, t-shirts and hoodies are great for those who like to feel relaxed and free, whilst working out. Primark have a really good range of gym clothing, which both looks great and doesn’t cost the earth. These sets would also be good for an outdoor run, if you are taking up something like the ‘couch to 5k’ challenge - or training for a marathon.

OH POLLY...

Admittedly, I am not quite ready for a crop top and shorts just yet, but a few more weeks at the gym and I am hopeful! I love this stylish ribbed set from Oh Polly (one to work towards!). The ribbed high waist shorts are flattering and the high neck crop top is supportive and very comfortable. Looks fantastic and is reasonably priced too.
