The inaugural We Love Hythe Life Food Festival is once again returning to Hythe Green on the August bank holiday weekend, 27th, 28th,29th August from 11am-7pm Saturday and Sunday, 11am-6pm Monday.
The three-day event is a food lovers dream with over 50 stalls dedicated to showcasing your local vendors and the delights that they have to offer.
Organised by Hythe Life magazine, the festival's ethos centres around local, sustainable shopping and eating. This year, we hope that you can join us for a fun packed weekend of food, drinks and live music to celebrate the end of the dreaded
Covid Pandemic, all while supporting your local businesses! Throughout the pandemic, it has been your local businesses, run by your friends, family and neighbours who have found it hardest to continue. The team here at Hythe Life pride ourselves in using this event to give our community a helping hand to get back on track and bring everyone back together again. Last year we had the pleasure of seeing over 20,000 people from near and far come through our gates and we hope that this year will be even bigger still.
The We Love Hythe Life Food Festival hosts a range of gourmet food and drink producers, most of whom are local to Kent and many of whom are located within a 25-mile radius of Hythe. From the international to the best of British, the We Love Hythe Life Food Festival is an annual celebration of diversity, culture and great food and drink with over 50 stalls dedicated to cuisine from across the globe. With everything available from preserves and pickles to cakes and bakes, spicy snacks to sweet treats, the bustling marketplace of artisan producers, restaurateurs
and high-end street food sellers make sure to offer a foodie feast to suit every budget, taste and dietary need. This year will also see the return of our Demo tent, giving you the opportunity to interact with our fantastic team of suppliers and learn a little about what goes on behind the scenes! If that wasn’t enough, a collection of cocktails, a craft beer tent, Festiveales (locally brewed by Romney Ales) and Pimms & Prosecco is sure to quench the adults' thirst, whilst the smaller members of the family are kept entertained with amusements and funfair rides in our kids corner.
On top of the food and drinks, one of the many highlights of the weekend are the musicians, artists and talent who take to our main stage. This year’s line up once again consists of bands who volunteer their time to showcase their fantastic musical talents throughout the weekend, providing you with the entertainment all day every day. To keep the Bank Holiday mood going, an eclectic mix of bands and solo artists will guarantee that there is a little something for everyone.
Hythe District Photographic Club
by Phil Heading Club Chairman
Hythe District Photographic Club is delighted that “Hythe Life Magazine” has agreed to sponsor the club for another year.
2021, the first year of this collaboration, turned out to be very successful for the club, when despite all the disruption of the Covid pandemic, we celebrated our 10th Anniversary in style, with a full programme of meetings and events. The highlight was the production and sale of our book “August in Hythe” which contained 200 images taken locally and captured the town and its people emerging from lockdown in August 2021.
With the help of Hemanshu Patel and the Rotary Club of Hythe, 250 copies were produced which sold out in 4 weeks, with the assistance of some local businesses, enabling the club to raise £1,000 for two local charities, Hythe Dementia Awareness Forum, and the Pilgrims Hospice. An online gallery of the book photographs can be viewed at: https://hythedistrictphotographicclub.jimdo.c om/august-in-hythe-2021/
“August in Hythe” also raised the profile of the club, locally, and this year
members have been asked by the Hythe Business & Tourism Association and organisers of other events to record happenings in Hythe during the year. 2022 got off to an exciting start when the prestigious and oldest weekly photographic magazine in the world, “Amateur Photographer” featured a two page article on the club in February featuring photographs taken by club members. This resulted in enquiries about membership from abroad. The club started the year with a record 54 members, and this healthy trend is in contrast to many photographic clubs who report a dwindling membership. Our approach has always been one of encouraging members to take and talk about photographs. We set a project each month and invite members to submit images which are reviewed at our monthly meetings. We do not invite “professional” judges to critique the photographs, but prefer to learn from discussion between the members where there is a wide range of experience, and where more experienced members willingly share knowledge to help everyone improve their techniques.
The rapid advances in technology mean that cameras are becoming increasingly more sophisticated, to the point that Artificial Intelligence algorithms are now employed in top end mirrorless cameras enabling them to focus automatically on the
eye of a bird in flight, an animal on the move and human faces. Similarly, the latest smartphone cameras, are more technically advanced than dedicated cameras of 10 years ago. All this technology may make picture taking easier, but it doesn’t guarantee better photographs, which is why the club tries to help members improve their creative and technical skills, through discussion, workshops and group photoshoots. The old adage, “there’s many a good tune played on an old fiddle” applies to photography, so the club doesn’t get too excited about the latest technology but instead concentrates on the creative side and composition, exposure and post-processing of images.
The club meets at 7.00 p.m. on the 2nd Thursday of every month at the Hythe Sports Pavilion in South Rd. Membership is £15 p.a. (students free), and there is a £3 charge on the door at each meeting. The club has an active Facebook® group with almost 170 members and full club members belong to a WhatsApp® group which keeps everyone in touch with local photo opportunities at short notice.

Health and the importance of wearing a correctly fitted bra
Hi ladies I have been in the lingerie sector for many years and have been bra fitting for 16 years after having my training by Triumph in 2006. If you are uncomfortable in your bra a professional bra fitting is advisable. An uneven shape, an unpleasant pinch – there are several tell-tale signs of an ill fitting bra. Your perfect fit will come with no niggles, no annoyances, just all-day comfort and we’re here to help you find it. Did you know that 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra ,this can actually cause a number of health issues including Neck ,Back pain, headaches ,pain in the breasts and under the arm .Many women wear their bras too loose around the back and too small in the cup, this will cause a lot of unnecessary pressure on the shoulders. With a perfectly fitted bra the breasts are supported from underneath and not the shoulder straps. A badly fitted bra will not only be uncomfortable but will also ruin your silhouette under clothing making your bust look bulky and too low.
Many women think they need a minimising bra but actually just need a correctly fitted bra and the correct style for your body. For advise or to book an appointment call Dawn Luck 01303 487760 Also I can advise and fit ladies after breast surgery and have a extensive range of mastectomy bras from AMOENA and ANITA. Recommended by the cancer care units from our local hospitals.
