July 2022 saw history being made for the Helen Family at Eedy Holsteins, Clonakilty, Co.Cork when their heifer “Eedy Crushabull Acclaim” was classified VG89 Maximum Score, the first animal on the Island of Ireland to do this in over 10 years. She is backed by 12 Generations of VG/EX and is certainly following in the family footsteps as her 8th Dam was also an VG89 2 Year Old. Crushabull Acclaim is April Born, calved down at an admirable 22 months back in February this year with a Sidekick Heifer Calf and is due again in January to Sexed Stantons Chief. Talking with Robert , Sylvia, Jason, and Laura they all admitted there has never been an animal quite like her on the farm. Jason said “from the moment she was born she stood out, she was always the strongest calf in the pen, had a quiet nature and always went well, she never had any setbacks”. Laura mentioned that you had to admire her for her style, from the very first time she put the halter on her, she was so stylish and flowed like she had done it a million times before. E. Crushabull Acclaim is now owned by Brian & Michael Yates of the Logan Herd over in Scotland but most certainly made her stamp on the Irish soil with her accolades to date being crowned All Ireland Heifer in Milk and Overall Champion of Clonakilty Show. Judge, Victor Jackson commented after the show “this is the first time I have ever made a Junior 2 Year Old Champion and she could be one to take on the best in Europe”. Not only did she win Clonakilty Show, she also won “Best Heifer” in Cork Herds Competition and the Acclaim Family, needing no introduction has also won “Best Cow Family” in the Cork Herds Competition for 4 consecutive years. This special heifer was destined for success, coming from what Robert said was the best family in their herd. Her Dam is a Beemer VG88 x Alexander EX94. The Acclaim family have most certainly made their stamp on the herd at Eedy Holsteins, making up almost 40% of the herd. The Helen Family also held a Youngstock Sale at the beginning of September where a half sister of Crushabull Acclaim sold for 8400 euros and her Aunt sold for 8700 euros making the top price of the sale.
