For this project, we were tasked as a group on research and comprehensive analysis on the construction, materials and structure of the Obidos Technology Park in Obidos, Portugal. Although the work shown here is my own, the analysis is based off the groups collective research.

Primary Structure (Square)

1. Pad Foundations

2. 700/465 mm reinforces concrete load bearing columns (embedded structure

3. Steel frame (180mm/180mm I columns) with bracing supported by 2 cores

4. Reinforced concrete flat roof structure with vegetation on top

5. Reinforced load bearing wall

6. Reinforced concrete flooring

Secondary Structure (square)

1. Permeable facade galvanized sheet steel panels painted white with embossed perforations

2. Glazing with aluminum frames, top half cladded with preoxidised sheet steel with embossed perforations

4. Flat roof structure with polyester sealing layer

4. Corten steel

We also conducted light studies, mechanical services analysis and an appraisal of the sutainability of the structure in all senses, In accordance with the Riba Sustainable Practice Guide, as well as suggesting our own iterations and improvements that could be made to the overall design. This was a truly eye opening project and taught us a lot about structure, materiality and construction.

These are some sketches from the sites I have looked at in my Studio work. When exploring the site, I like to make some quick sketches, and write down any notes that I have regarding the opportunities and constraints of the site, which enable me to create key drivers in my design.

I have found this very useful in my design process and a great way to show my analysis and personal experience of the site.

Although joining a digital atelier (CPU(ai)) at Manchester School of Architecture during 3rd year, one of my large hobbies and something I like to do in my both my spare time and my university work

I also thoroughly enjoy graphic design work, which can be seen through my portfolio work as well as other pieces of work like my Humanities work. I find it to be a great way to express my ideas, creativity and artistic skill in all medias.

This project was called Inscribing City and we were given complete freedom on how we represented this idea. I chose to look at ‘communicating current social issues through urban architecture and graffiti in Manchester.’ The grafitti was specifically from the Hope Grafitti Festival in 2018.

Inspired by the original peices on social themes, I have reimagined these works in a more current time, using current political motifs, and painting and photoshop to achieve the grafitti effect. In these works I have focussed on the Orphans of the war in Ukraine and Bermuda’s ban on same sex marriage.

Additionally, In my spare time, I have worked on some graphic design work for freinds. When doing this work, I make sure to make many iterations and work to meet their desires and match the project themes.

For the Compendium Magazine graphics, I was tasked with creating a Magazine cover for my friends academic zine which will include creative work from university projects. This project is still in process and these are the inital design iterations for the front cover.

I also have worked on the Manchester University Skydividng Society’s logo. For this project, lots of small edits and iterations of the logo were made by request of the society, to which we finally came to an output which represents both MUSS and the University of Manchester perfectly. This logo is still used today and the design motif is continued in their society advertising and social media pages.
